Chapter 309 - Chapter 309: Brooklet Hill

Brooklet Hill is located on the northwest side of Akala Island, featuring terraced pools that layer upon layer, offering a unique landscape.

Ace's Aerodactyl slowly descended with Ace and Green on the outskirts of Brooklet Hill. Looking at the scenery before them, Green smiled and said, "The view is great, but where is the Z-Crystal you mentioned, Ace?"

"You'll know once we go inside."

Ace didn't elaborate and simply walked straight in.

Seeing this, Green immediately followed.

Whether in the games or in the future plot, one typically has to pass the corresponding Trial Captain's trial to obtain a Z-Crystal.

However, currently, while the tradition exists, it hasn't become that formalized yet.

Therefore, for Ace and Green to obtain the Z-Crystal, they only needed to defeat the Totem Pokémon guarding it.

Ace and Green arrived at the water's edge. Without a word, Ace threw out his Special Ball, and Green also tossed out her Poké Ball.

As the two balls opened, their respective Blastoise landed in the water of Brooklet Hill.

"Splash, splash, splash..."

The next moment, a large quantity of Wishiwashi splashed up. Ace stared in shock at the vast school of Wishiwashi, momentarily unable to believe the sheer number of them here.

Green was also stunned by the quantity of Wishiwashi before her. Swallowing, she hesitantly asked Ace, "Ace, the Z-Crystal you mentioned, it couldn't be..."

"Most likely, it's at the bottom of the water."

Green: ...

Silently, Green suddenly felt that the Tapu Lele Ace had previously challenged wasn't so difficult after all.

They say that too many ants can kill an elephant, and the situation they faced now was exactly that.

"Blastoise, go search the bottom."

"Little Squirtle, you go too."

The two Blastoise looked at each other, then marched toward the water bottom with a look of going to their doom.

One second, two seconds, three seconds.

After just three seconds, the two Blastoise were instantly blasted high into the air by a column of water, landing pathetically on the sand by the shore.

Ace and Green couldn't help but cover their faces. The water column that blasted the two Blastoise away was actually a combination of countless tiny Water Gun attacks.

After all, one Water Gun is nothing, and even ten Water Guns combined could be withstood by a Blastoise.

But what about a hundred, or a thousand?

The Wishiwashi are inherently small in size. The density of Wishiwashi in the vast Brooklet Hill was easily over a thousand.

It would be extremely difficult to break through the defense of these Wishiwashi and retrieve the Water-type Z-Crystal.

"We can't force our way; we have to outsmart them."

Green suddenly spoke, "Ace, follow me. I noticed something confusing when we first arrived."

Ace was stunned for a moment, then recalled his Blastoise. Led by Aerodactyl, the two flew high into the sky again.

Looking down at the entire Brooklet Hill from above, Green's eyes instantly brightened. She then said to Ace, "I know what the problem is!"

Ace was also observing the entire Brooklet Hill. When Green said this, Ace also realized the issue.

"Aerodactyl, take us over there."

Ace pointed out the direction. Aerodactyl nodded and slowly descended with Ace and Green onto a large rock near the sea.

Looking down from the sky, one could clearly see that this large rock was blocking the confluence of Brooklet Hill's waters and the ocean.

This was the fundamental reason why Wishiwashi were proliferating throughout Brooklet Hill.

The individual Wishiwashi is arguably the weakest Pokémon in the Pokémon world.

Wailmer eat a ton of Wishiwashi every day, sometimes Wailord will swallow an entire school of Wishiwashi in one gulp, and Pelipper can scoop up over 30 Wishiwashi in their large beaks and swallow them whole.

Therefore, to prevent extinction, Wishiwashi have very strong reproductive capabilities!

Now that the channel connecting Brooklet Hill and the ocean was blocked, Brooklet Hill had become a breeding ground for Wishiwashi. Without the presence of numerous natural predators, the Wishiwashi population had surged.

Ace released his Blaziken, and Green released her Nidoqueen.

The two exchanged glances, sharing a knowing smile.

Blaziken and Nidoqueen both began to power up. Following that, a powerful kick and a heavy punch fiercely slammed into the large rock.

"Crack, crack..."

A crisp shattering sound echoed, and the entire rock immediately became covered in cracks.

The two Pokémon attacked again. The large rock could no longer withstand the attacks of the two Pokémon and completely shattered, turning into a heap of rubble!

With the large rock no longer blocking the way, the water accumulated in Brooklet Hill began to surge towards the sea!

The water flow was mixed with a large number of Wishiwashi, which rapidly rushed into the ocean along with the stream.

"We did it!"

Seeing the passage to the sea open, Ace and Green high-fived in celebration.

Under their gaze, large numbers of Wishiwashi abandoned the safe breeding ground of Brooklet Hill, surging toward the ocean.

Although Brooklet Hill was the place that gave them birth and raised them, a single pond could not compare to the vastness of the ocean.

Even though the ocean is full of danger, it is precisely because of danger that they will become stronger!

To become stronger is the nature of Pokémon.

And at this moment, these Wishiwashi were following that nature.

Ace and Green quietly watched the movements of the Wishiwashi school. Seeing the water level of Brooklet Hill gradually drop, Green said with some concern, "Will we make this place dry up by doing this?"

"No."

Ace stated with certainty, pointing to the area above Brooklet Hill.

Water continuously gushed out from there, flowing down the terraced pools and injecting water into Brooklet Hill, maintaining the entire water cycle.

"Brooklet Hill was originally connected to the sea. It was just that the rock blocked the flow, allowing the water source of Brooklet Hill to remain stable but preventing the seawater from flowing back into Brooklet Hill. Now, we are just letting everything return to normal."

Ace's explanation calmed Green's worries. Then, the two once again released their respective Blastoise and charged toward the bottom of the Brooklet Hill's pools.

The two Blastoise were already battle-hardened. With the mass exodus of Wishiwashi, the Blastoise quickly defeated the remaining Wishiwashi guards and each acquired a Water-type Z-Crystal at the bottom of the pools.

When the two Blastoise returned with the Z-Crystals, Green took the Z-Crystal from her Blastoise.

After admiring it, Green inlaid the pure crystal onto her bracelet.

"How do I use this?"

Green looked at Ace, asking him how to use the Z-Crystal.

Ace again took out a bracelet from his pouch and put it on, inlaying the crystal onto the bracelet. Ace said to Green, "I'll demonstrate it for you. Watch carefully."
