A moment of silence fell between us before Adrian continued speaking. “The other me, however—he must know what to do next. He’s been consumed by a sense of duty to resurrect Eleanora. Besides, as long as he contains my soul, he is also me—what does it matter if he is real or fake? After all, the resurrected Eleanora would be nothing but a replica as well.”

As I listened, I considered what I should do next. It appeared the most pressing order of business was to tear Adrian out of this extreme depression. If it was truly the result of his soul being torn in half, then there was only one way to proceed.

“The problem lies with the other one, then,” I mused, glancing at Miu. The small child immediately understood what I needed. He quickly scampered out of the room, only to return a moment later with replica-Adrian in tow. Without glancing away from the original, I ordered, “Miu, extract the core.”
