A flush immediately spread across Noa’s body—an impressive feat considering the dusting of red that had already been present from the moment Kyle had approached her. He could almost see the concerns that were certainly running through her mind—how could she know that everyone had left for the day? How could they do this here, outside of their home, or even a bed? Fortunately, Kyle knew how to dispel such worries.
He pressed his lips against the hollow of her collarbone before flashing a mischievous smile. “No one will come in here. They do not dare to bother me after I return from a case.”
“But still—”
“Besides, you said you would turn a blind eye, Miss Noa,” he continued, cutting her protests off before they had time to fully form.
“Th-That’s true, but this is a bit…” she stammered, still shy despite her brazen declaration earlier.
“You should not say such things if you do not mean them.”
