Gazing at the countless worlds swirling in his mind, Aoki fell into deep contemplation.
He'd always known he wouldn't stay in the Demon Slayer world forever. The system had initially identified itself as a Multiverse System—implying travel across different worlds.
But he'd grown deeply attached to this world, even reluctant to return to Earth.
"Ding!"
"Detecting host's apprehension. You may bring individuals from this world to other worlds; the number is unlimited."
This eased Aoki's resistance somewhat.
"System, is traveling to other worlds mandatory?" Aoki asked, preferring to remain in the Demon Slayer world.
"No. The Multiverse System mandates that unless the host dies, they must proceed to the next world after fulfilling certain requirements.
If a host remains in one world for over ten years, the system will forcibly return them to their original world. And if the host fails to complete enough missions…"
"…the system has the right to terminate them. Your life was saved by the system. If you fail to meet the requirements, I can also end your life."
Aoki's heart lurched.
"Looks like I have no choice," he thought, not noticing that his lips had separated from Shinobu Kocho's, who stared at him, utterly bewildered.
"Aoki-kun? What's wrong?" Shinobu Kocho's question snapped him back to reality. He looked at her with a complex expression.
After a long silence, he sighed. "Shinobu, let's gather everyone. I need to tell them something."
Aoki summoned Tanjiro Kamado and the others. As the key figure in the final battle, he commanded respect and easily gathered them.
He explained his situation: his origin on Earth, his time travel, and the necessity of leaving.
Everyone stared at him in shock.
"If that's true, I'm coming with you," Shinobu Kocho was the first to speak, determined to accompany Aoki across the multiverse.
She couldn't imagine a life without him.
Furthermore, her attachment to this world was limited—her sister's grave and Kanao Tsuyuri. These paled in comparison to Aoki.
Tanjiro Kamado hesitated. Unlike Shinobu Kocho, he had many attachments—Nezuko Kamado and his many companions. But he decided to go with Aoki, considering him his second mentor after Sakonji Urokodaki. He didn't want to be separated from Aoki.
Several others also expressed their desire to go with Aoki.
Aoki fell silent, pondering before making his decision.
"No more. I've decided. Everyone except Shinobu stays here."
Silence descended. Aoki found Kanao Tsuyuri, Shinobu Kocho's only living relative. "Kanao, do you have anything to say?"
Kanao Tsuyuri was silent, then produced a coin. As she prepared to flip it, Tanjiro Kamado stopped her.
"Kanao, this is a crucial decision.
A coin flip is too rash," Tanjiro Kamado said, jolting Kanao Tsuyuri from her indecision.
Kanao Tsuyuri looked at Shinobu Kocho, a smile appearing. "Sensei… no, Shinobu-nee-san, though I'll miss you, Aoki-sama said he'll die if he doesn't leave.
You wouldn't want to see that, would you? Aoki-sama's importance to you now surpasses even Kanae-nee-san."
"Don't worry about me. Go with Aoki-sama," Kanao Tsuyuri said, blushing slightly as she looked at Tanjiro Kamado. "Besides, I've found someone very important to me."
Shinobu Kocho smiled, a relieved smile. "Is that so, little Kanao?"
She removed her butterfly hair ornament and gave it to Kanao Tsuyuri. "Then I'm at ease. This is for you, as a keepsake."
She looked at Aoki. "Let's go."
Aoki nodded. "System, activate the Multiverse Travel System."
Countless worlds filled Aoki's mind. He sought a familiar world, knowing Demon Slayer was a Japanese anime he hadn't watched.
This multiverse travel meant visiting various anime and game worlds. Aoki wanted a familiar world, one where he knew the plot, allowing him to follow the main storyline, even if he couldn't change it.
He found a world he knew.
Fairy Tail.
Fairy Tail, another Japanese anime, was one of his favorites. He chose it.
"System, select Fairy Tail."
"Ding!"
"Host has selected the destination world!"
"Loading world data…"
"Loading complete!"
"Initiating travel!"
A giant vortex appeared before Aoki and Shinobu Kocho.
They knew crossing it would take them to their next world.
"Aoki-senpai!" Tanjiro Kamado called out as Aoki took a step. "Take care!"
Aoki smiled at Tanjiro Kamado—a smile of both joy and sorrow. Tears welled in Tanjiro Kamado's eyes.
Holding Shinobu Kocho's hand tightly, Aoki nodded. "Yes, take care."
They stepped into the vortex.
