"Taking on Ten"

"What? Muttering to yourself? Trash, what did you say? Humph, mere livestock, daring to speak like that. Don't bother, I can handle this alone."

One vampire stepped forward—the one Aoki had previously engaged. He believed Aoki's strength was roughly his equal.

He was quickly proven wrong.

As he moved to attack, his head was severed from his body. Aoki had appeared silently behind him.

Before the vampire could even register what had happened, his body disintegrated into dust, leaving only his clothing behind.

The remaining nine vampires were completely stunned, frozen in place.

Then, they reacted.

"Everyone! Maintain formation! Don't show any weakness!"

They finally understood why Aoki had followed them—he possessed the strength to defeat them all single-handedly.

His previous attack had been a calculated feint, designed to mislead them into underestimating him.

However, judging by the speed at which he had killed the first vampire, Aoki's strength was clearly far beyond theirs.

Looking at the nine vampires surrounding him, their expressions grim, Aoki smiled. "Formation? In my opinion, even the most perfect formation is useless against overwhelming strength. Like mine."

Aoki raised Yoriichi Type Zero.

"Devouring Breath, Ninth Form: Supreme Divine Punishment!"

Black energy surged around the blade. He brought Yoriichi Type Zero down, unleashing a violent black storm that engulfed the nine vampires.

Eight were instantly annihilated; only one remained, kneeling, barely alive.

Aoki slowly approached the surviving vampire.

"Mere… livestock… dare…" Though death was inevitable, the vampire didn't beg for mercy. Aoki, appreciating his defiance, swiftly ended his life with a single strike.

After killing all ten vampires, Aoki's combat power increased by 150 points—a significant, though not overwhelming, boost.

Just then, Yūichirō Hyakuya and the others arrived.

"Aoki!" They called out, but upon reaching the scene, they found Aoki staring blankly at them, surrounded by scattered white clothing.

They recognized the clothing—that of Level 2 armed vampires.

The only explanation was that all the vampires were dead, and Aoki seemed to be solely responsible.

"That guy's a monster," Shihō Kimizuki admitted, despite his usual arrogance.

Mitsuba Sangū stood there for a moment before stepping forward, raising her hand to slap Aoki. He swiftly grabbed her wrist.

"Hey, you can't just hit a man's face like that," Aoki said calmly, though he had anticipated some kind of reaction from Mitsuba Sangū, not a direct slap.

"Do you know what you've done?! This could easily have wiped out the entire squad!" Mitsuba Sangū shouted, raising her other hand, but Aoki blocked it again.

"I said, even the best formations are meaningless against overwhelming strength. Like mine. Those ten vampires maintained a perfect formation, and I still one-shotted them," Aoki stated matter-of-factly.

Mitsuba Sangū wanted to argue, but she couldn't find the words. He had single-handedly annihilated ten vampires—an undeniable fact that proved his overwhelming strength.

She finally understood why Guren Ichinose had made Aoki the squad leader. His strength certainly justified the decision, though her past experiences made it difficult for her to fully condone his actions.

"Forget it. We saw many humans being held captive by the vampires below. Let's notify headquarters and have them send someone to rescue them," Mitsuba Sangū said, turning to leave.

Aoki remained silent, his usual cold expression returning.

Shinoa Hīragi approached. "Don't mind Mitsuba-chan. She used to be like you—doing her own thing, unbound. But a reckless action cost her comrades. She's not angry at you, just disapproves of your methods. Don't dislike her."

"I'm not that petty. Let's finish this and go to Shinjuku," Aoki said calmly, turning to leave.

Later, a squad of soldiers arrived from Shibuya to rescue the captive humans. The little girl they had saved earlier was reunited with her family.

Noticing Aoki and the others, she ran over, apologizing profusely. "I'm so sorry. After you saved me, I should have lied and told you there were only seven vampires. Please don't hate me. I only did it to save my family. The vampires threatened to kill them if I didn't cooperate."

Aoki looked at the little girl for a moment, his expression softening. He gently stroked her head. "We don't mind. We understand how you felt. Besides, those vampires were no threat to us."

Aoki smiled—his first genuine smile in this world.

Shinoa Hīragi, watching from a distance, also smiled—a genuine smile, unlike her usual sly grin. She hadn't smiled so openly since the experiment.

"So, you're only cold on the surface. Your heart is gentler than anyone else's, right?"
