"The Shinjuku Battle Concludes"
"Tenri Hīragi… from the Hīragi family?"
Aoki murmured, recognizing the newcomer whose very presence was infuriating. As a member of the Japanese Imperial Demon Army, even without being part of the Hīragi clan, he knew of their significance – the founders and strongest family within the army.
"All units, listen up! Capture the vampire nobles alive. Let them know that provoking the Japanese Imperial Demon Army, provoking humanity, has consequences. Let them remember this lesson."
"Attack!"
With Tenri Hīragi's order, the Japanese Imperial Demon Army members supporting Aoki engaged the vampires in a fierce battle.
"Oh dear, this doesn't look good for us," Ferid Bathory said, watching the clash. "Crowley, should we retreat?"
"You're the commander of this operation. Why are you always asking me? Retreat if you want. But with that ridiculously strong human around, we can't win anyway," Crowley Eusford said with a wave of his hand, feigning helplessness.
"Ah, let's retreat then. Because I don't want to die," Ferid Bathory said with a smile. At his command, the vampires began their retreat.
Seeing the vampires' rout, the human forces pressed their advantage, but Aoki and the others didn't pursue. Firstly, they didn't know if the vampires had any more tricks up their sleeves. Secondly, even if they pursued, the chances of killing a vampire noble were slim.
Besides, Aoki was curious about the cause of Yūichirō Hyakuya's earlier outburst. If he wasn't mistaken, it was related to the "Seraph of the End," and besides Yūichirō Hyakuya, there were three other experimental subjects—meaning three more Seraph.
The Shinjuku battle had given him a good understanding of the vampires' overall strength: they far surpassed the human Japanese Imperial Demon Army.
Vampire nobles' strength was ranked by their progenitor number. Ferid Bathory, the seventh progenitor, was far stronger than any member of the Japanese Imperial Demon Army Aoki had encountered. And there were potentially six stronger nobles above him.
If that was the case, the power gap between humans and vampires was terrifyingly vast.
As for the Seraph of the End, Aoki suspected that humanity, aware of the power disparity, had created this uncontrollable ultimate weapon against the vampires.
This was just speculation, however. The truth remained unknown. But if the Seraph of the End were indeed a human weapon against vampires, the Hīragi family was undoubtedly behind it, given their dominance over the Japanese Imperial Demon Army.
"Ding!"
"Congratulations, host, for surviving the Shinjuku battle! Combat power increased by 1200 points!"
"Combat Power: 11050 points!"
"Overall Assessment: SS-level!"
The system's notification sounded. This unexpected reward filled Aoki with both joy and bewilderment.
The joy was obvious—increased strength meant increased survivability. The bewilderment stemmed from the system's unpredictable reward system since arriving in this world from Demon Slayer. The reward mechanics had completely changed, making it impossible to predict when rewards would be given.
"Well, whatever. Increased combat power is good. But it's unlikely to be just a combat power boost. There should be a choice reward," Aoki thought. Sure enough, the notification for a choice reward soon followed.
"Ding!"
"Awarding the host a reward!"
Three options appeared, different from before.
[Acquire a new skill]
[Susanoo Upgrade (0/3)]
[Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan Upgrade (0/3)]
Aoki fell into deep thought.
Upgrading Susanoo would lead to the Perfect Susanoo, a qualitative leap in power.
Upgrading the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan would lead to the Rinnegan, another qualitative leap in power.
Compared to these, acquiring a new skill seemed inferior.
But Aoki chose to acquire a new skill. Firstly, the other two options required three reward choices for upgrades. Secondly, Aoki desperately needed a long-range attack skill. Since arriving in the world of Seraph of the End, with its advanced technology, he'd lacked such abilities.
And the third, most important reason was:
The author wouldn't allow it!
After selecting a new skill, numerous options flooded his mind. Most were unfamiliar, so he decided to choose a familiar one.
He found a unique option among them.
Ninjutsu Gift Pack.
"Wow, even gift packs. Should I go for a buy-one-get-one deal?" Aoki mused, selecting the option.
"Ding!"
"Host's selection complete!"
Ninjutsu Acquired:
Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique
Water Release: Water Dragon Bullet Technique
Earth Release: Earth Release Wall
Wind Release: Rasengan Shuriken
Lightning Release: Chidori
Rasengan (including Great Rasengan)
Chidori (including variations)
Summoning Technique
"Whoa! Whoa! Let me count… one, two, three… eight! Eight! Sweet!"
Aoki was overjoyed with the eight ninjutsu. He now had long-range attack options, and numerous new skills. He was glad he hadn't chosen to upgrade Susanoo or the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan. If those choices had refreshed the options and removed the Ninjutsu Gift Pack, Aoki would have been devastated.
"Aoki? Aoki?"
Aoki faintly heard someone calling his name.
Opening his eyes, he found himself lying on Shinoa Hīragi's lap, her face filled with worry.
Startled, Aoki sat up, touching his head in confusion.
"Whoa? Why am I passed out?"
He wondered why he'd fainted after selecting the reward.
He realized it was because he'd been so overwhelmed by receiving eight skills at once that he'd unconsciously poured all his consciousness into the selection, causing his physical body to faint due to lack of awareness.
