Kolton watched Kimi disappear through her front door, a satisfied smile playing across his lips. The porch light illuminated her figure one last time before she vanished inside her house.

Only when the door clicked shut did he slide behind the wheel of his sleek car. The engine purred to life as he pulled away from the curb, his hands gripping the steering wheel with practiced ease.

The familiar route to the pack house stretched ahead of him, each mile bringing him closer to a place he despised. That massive structure loomed in his mind like a prison, all marble columns and suffocating traditions. Despite being his childhood home, it felt more like a cage than a sanctuary.

His father's iron grip on every aspect of his life made the walls seem to close in tighter each day. Kolton craved the open road, the freedom to make his own choices without someone breathing down his neck. He was a grown man, not some puppet dancing to his father's tune.
