Michael Korvac, a fellow who suddenly appeared in the Kree Empire's territory, looked like an Earthling. His body leaked an incalculable amount of energy, causing considerable destruction wherever he went.
When the Guardians of the Galaxy found him, he was already a crazy, babbling, self-propelled human bomb.
Peter asked with considerable curiosity, "So, what did he say?"
"He said he was from the 31st century. At first, we weren't sure what the 31st century was, but judging by his arrival on Earth, he might be from Earth's 31st century."
Adam recounted the story pieced together from Korvac's fragmented, lunatic ramblings. Upon hearing the name Korvac, Peter felt a surge of curiosity. The name Korvac sounded familiar—oh right, in the EMH animated series, one episode also involved the Guardians of the Galaxy pursuing Korvac to Earth.
However, that Michael Korvac was an ordinary Earthling who had been captured and modified by the Kree Empire, with no 31st-century backstory. Having once again experienced a plot deviation, Peter chose to continue listening. Suddenly, his Spider-Sense flared. Peter looked around curiously but didn't find anything amiss.
Hiding to the side, Kang the Conqueror sat in his chair, quietly withdrawing from the scene. He was astonished that Spider-Man's Spider-Sense could detect traces outside the timeline. He had only come here after detecting the keyword "31st century," intending to investigate what was causing the multiversal collision crisis.
And he himself just happened to be from the 31st century.
"So what? Korvac is from the 31st century, maybe from Earth, but why is he crazy, and why did he come to Earth?"
"We don't know either." Adam shook his head helplessly. "The only thing we know is that Korvac said he was driven mad by a terrifying Conqueror. That Conqueror coveted his power and wanted to dominate the entire world."
31st century... Conqueror...
Kang the Conqueror?
Just as Peter was contemplating Kang's existence, Kang completely froze up. He detached himself from that time node, returned to his battleship, and opened his computer: "Search for Michael Korvac, timestamp 31st century."
But unfortunately, the computer from a thousand years later couldn't provide the answer Kang needed; all the people named Michael Korvac that popped up were not the figure Adam had projected. Kang threw Korvac's image into the computer, but still got no answer.
What on earth was going on? There shouldn't be a Michael Korvac like this.
Perplexed, Kang returned to that time node and continued listening to Adam's narration. In short, because of the power of the Soul Gem, Adam decided to try and soothe Korvac, to stop him from acting like a madman, but Korvac's power far exceeded his imagination. When he began to enter Korvac's mind, Korvac's uncontrollable power started to erupt wildly.
"I tried to control Korvac's power, but I failed..." Adam sighed helplessly. In the final moments of his consciousness projection, an entire planet was destroyed by the leakage of Korvac's energy. Meanwhile, Korvac was completely unharmed, muttering something as he floated away into the distance.
Adam only managed to read one thing: Korvac's target was Earth.
"So you came to Earth, planning to help us." After roughly understanding the situation, Peter rubbed his brow. "Fine, but faced with a guy who can blow up an entire planet, what good plan do you have?"
"There is one plan, though it's uncertain if it will succeed," Adam said. "But we need help, especially the strength of someone who can hinder Korvac's actions."
"Well, you've come to the right place then," Peter shrugged, and then pointed skyward.
In mid-air, a God holding a mighty hammer was slowly descending.
"I received your call, Spider-Man. What help do you need?" Thor landed next to Peter, then looked at Adam. "And who is this incredibly powerful sorcerer?"
"We need to locate a living bomb, but first, we have to figure out if he's arrived on Earth, or when he might arrive."
Dr. Michael's mouth dropped open, as he recalled the abnormal signal that had briefly flashed across the computer screen earlier.
Could Korvac have already...
Spider-Man would probably never get a break.
This was Gwen's conclusion. Even after leaving New York and coming to a small place like Puerto Rico, Spider-Man still ran into trouble and messed everything up. Now, they were out, leaving Gwen to wander alone in the small city of San Juan. This place naturally wasn't as bustling as New York, and there wasn't much worth seeing in the shops.
Gwen sighed and walked out of a store, seeing a person collapsed by the roadside. She hesitated for a moment, then walked over and asked quietly.
"Are you okay, sir?"
"Ah!"
The homeless man in a hoodie sat up, looking confusedly at his hands, seeming quite bewildered. But when he saw Gwen, his eyes lit up.
"Are you one of the Spiders? No, no, you're not a Spider yet..."
What did he mean by "one of the Spiders?" Was he talking about Peter? Gwen frowned, stood up straight, and asked, "Excuse me, sir, I don't understand what you're saying, and I don't know who you are."
"I, my name is Korvac. I'm a friend of the Avengers. I'm a friend of Spider-Man."
Huh? Why hadn't Peter ever mentioned this person?
Korvac nervously hugged himself, sitting on the ground and looking at Gwen.
"The not-yet-Spider, what time is it now?"
"Uh, two in the afternoon..."
"I mean the date."
"November 5th." Seeing Korvac still looking confused, Gwen added, "The year 2012."
"No, no, I'm too early! I'm too early! Damn it!" Korvac stood up in frustration. He was unsteady on his feet, stumbling, and looked at Gwen with expectation: "You know Spider-Man, right? You know the Avengers, help me contact them."
"I'm sorry, sir, I don't know you... and do you really need the Avengers' help? I think you might need lunch more."
"No, I need the Avengers. I need the Avengers to help me go home..."
"Sorry, sir, your home is in..."
"I don't know where my home is."
Gwen was even more confused. Was this person suffering from amnesia or something? She frowned, staring at Korvac, and pulled out her phone: "Alright, I can try to contact the Avengers, but first, you need to be more specific about who you are and your relationship with the Avengers."
"My name is Korvac. I'm a friend of the Avengers. I'm a friend of Spider-Man." Korvac repeated this, then, seemingly thinking of something else, he added blankly.
"I am a Cosmic Cube from the 31st century."
