Chapter 280 - Chapter 280: Dazzler's Concert

Dazzler, originally named Alison Blaire, is a globally famous singer and one of the most influential mutants, and her influence is quite unique: she is one of the world's most outstanding pop singers.

Her ability is to convert sound waves into light waves. This light can certainly be destructive, but most often, it forms the dazzling lighting effects for her concerts. This is one reason for her success; after all, a singer who can bring her own light show everywhere, with effects that change according to her voice, has a huge advantage over everyone else.

Plus, she can fly.

The only issue is that she cannot convert the sound she produces into light, but that hardly matters—singers carry microphones everywhere, and the sound transmitted through the microphone can also create brilliant light effects.

Oh, for a concert, there's another problem: there are too many people. The sheer density of the crowd makes it incredibly difficult just to walk and find a spot to watch. Peter watched as Wanda was about to be swept away by the human tide, quickly reached out, grabbed her hand, and guided her to an area that was slightly less congested.

"Oh, I've never been to a live concert before. I didn't realize there would be so many people."

Squeezed among various mutants, Wanda apologized to Peter. Peter, of course, didn't mind and just smiled. Wanda then looked around with a hint of disbelief: "And it's so loud..."

"You don't like it here?"

"No, I just haven't been before. I'm not used to it."

Wanda said a bit self-consciously: "I usually read books at home. Even when I go out, I rarely do anything like this... I didn't expect it to be this crowded. I'm really sorry."

"I haven't been to a concert either, or I definitely would have warned you. So neither of us thought about it, right?"

Peter smiled, looked around, and had an idea.

"Do these walls say we can't stand on them?"

"Actually, no. Mutants often choose to stand on top of the venue's walls to watch the concert, but it's probably pretty crowded up there too."

"I didn't say stand on the top of the wall." Peter said amid the clamoring crowd: "I said, on the wall."

"Ready?"

Peter held out his hand to Wanda, but the crowd simply pushed her right into him. Wanda leaned in and immediately hugged his arm: "Uh, is this okay?"

"Works for me."

He didn't use his web-shooters because that would be too conspicuous, nor did he use his wall-crawling ability. Instead, he had Venom sprout a pair of wings behind him, and he flew Wanda onto the wall. Then, he had Venom subtly modify a section of the wall structure to extend a small platform, just enough for two people to sit on. That way, it was completely non-Spider-Man-like.

Thanks, buddy.

[You're welcome.]

"So... Spider-Man can actually fly?"

"No, that's my partner, an alien organism. My symbiote suit—the evil symbiotes invaded New York at the beginning of the month."

"Oh, I saw that. A giant Spider-Man fighting a giant dragon."

Wanda smiled, leaning on the platform to sit down. Peter sat beside her. The concert hadn't officially started yet, but the crowd below was a sea of moving heads, and more spectators were starting to appear on top of the surrounding walls.

"It's not so noisy up here, is it?"

Peter smiled and sat down beside her. His sharp eyes spotted members of the New Mutants team, but it didn't matter; not even Kitty knew what he looked like beneath the mask, and Wanda had only appeared after the New Mutants left, so they didn't know her either.

So, there was no need to worry about his identity being exposed.

"Kitty, do we really have to come to a place like this?"

Dani Moonstar, a member of the team, felt uncomfortable with the surrounding clamor, but Kitty waited nonchalantly. Thanks to her ability, no matter how many people arrived, she never felt crowded. She just listened to her teammate ask: "Don't you think there are too many people here?"

"Yeah, but concerts always have a lot of people. Why don't you go out and hang out with the others, Dani?"

Aside from Kitty, the others weren't very interested in the concert. Cannonball and Sunspot, the two boys, were clearly more interested in Dazzler the beautiful woman herself than her actual concert, and they weren't that interested in beautiful women. After seeing the sea of people, they had strategically abandoned the idea of squeezing into the concert crowd. Wolfsbane simply had no interest in pop music.

Only Dani, fearing something might happen to Kitty alone, had followed her. But now she was regretting it a little. Kitty saw her discomfort and took her friend's hand: "I'll take you outside first, then I'll come back."

"Will you be okay by yourself?"

"What could happen to me?" Kitty laughed helplessly. No one could even touch her. How could anything happen? Did they think she was some easy-to-trick little girl who could be kidnapped?

In the end, Dani nodded and accepted Kitty's help. Before leaving, she glanced around and spotted the small platform on the wall: "It would be great if we could watch the concert from a spot like that."

"That looks like a platform a couple built for themselves. They must have the right abilities to get up there. We don't, we can't even fly." Kitty shrugged helplessly, pulled her friend through the crowd, and sent Dani outside. The concert began shortly after, and as night fell, colorful light waves danced along with Dazzler's singing.

Peter Parker felt that Dazzler's concert might actually be best appreciated from a distance. The dazzling light effects formed a beautiful panorama from afar, and her voice, amplified to cover the massive crowd below, was easier to enjoy from a little further away.

Although neither Peter nor Wanda were the type of people who enjoyed this kind of venue.

"This is the first time I've seen so vividly how many people are in Genosha. I know a lot of people live here, but seeing such a sea of people so directly is truly rare." The vibrant colored light circles reflected in Wanda's eyes, and she smiled involuntarily: "Perhaps we really have created a kind of paradise for mutants. It's not perfect, but at least..."

Peter just sat beside Wanda, listening to her talk, but his brow suddenly furrowed. His Spider-Sense gave a subtle, indistinct quiver. He looked up at the people on the surrounding wall, who were supposed to be watching the concert.

They were all looking in another direction, where something unexpected seemed to be happening.
