"What's wrong?"
Wanda asked curiously, noticing Peter looking around nervously. Peter didn't hide it: "Something dangerous is happening. We need to go outside and check... Oh!"
Wanda immediately stood up, using her energy to levitate herself and Peter. They quickly crossed the wall and saw lightning streaking across the night sky.
"Is my father fighting?"
Wanda asked, uncertainly. She seemed to sense traces of her father's battle but didn't know why Magneto didn't seem to be fighting at full strength. Wanda took Peter to a secluded corner. Peter immediately changed into his Spider-Man suit, and the two rushed toward the location of the royal palace.
At the same time, Kitty, who was listening to the concert, and the other members of the New Mutants team, who were wandering elsewhere in Genosha, received a message from Logan. Kitty regretfully glanced at Vibra's performance before immediately leaving the concert hall.
The person Peter was looking for had appeared.
Let's rewind a few minutes.
Max Dillon had never felt so good. Six hours of exposure to the Vita-Ray chamber had completed the fusion between him and the suitable gene fragment from the modified electric eel. Mister Sinister's young protege, Miss Essex, had perfectly embedded the necessary gene segment into Max's body, making the modified eel gene a part of his X-gene sequence and completing a secondary mutation.
At this moment, he possessed unprecedented power. His skin, once a white man's, had become a structure glowing with blue electricity. His entire body seemed to shimmer from the constantly overflowing electrical energy. He broke free from gravity's hold, shattered Magneto's vault, and ascended above Magneto's palace, releasing an incredibly brilliant flash of lightning before taking a deep breath.
Electricity was forcibly sucked out of Genosha's power grid. With every inhale, the currents surged into his body. He greedily reveled in the feeling, letting out a burst of cheerful laughter.
So invigorating! So comfortable!
Max could feel every strand of electricity being stored in his body; his every drop of blood was fused with the current. The currents that were once incredibly powerful and would harm him now only brought him pleasure. He spun once above Hammer Port, greedily drawing every current he could find, virtually paralyzing the entire city in an instant.
Magneto and Wolverine stepped out of the palace, looking up at Max, who was flying wildly and unleashing lightning. Logan couldn't help but sneer, "Fail-safe vault, huh?"
Magneto's face was dark as he watched Max in the sky.
"Wolverine, take your X-Men and deal with him."
"And what will you be doing?"
"If the man you were looking for has finished his modification, then Nathaniel must be preparing to move the gene-splicing apparatus," Magneto said coldly, stating his intentions. "That is Genosha's property; Nathaniel cannot take it. Moreover, this was your task to begin with."
Logan stared at Magneto for a moment before letting out a cold laugh. After sending a message to his students, he put away his phone, stretched, and pulled his mask over his face. "Don't mind giving me a ride, do you?"
"Of course not, Logan."
Magneto took control of the Adamantium in Wolverine's body, and with a wave of his hand, launched Wolverine into the air toward the aimlessly flying Electro. The reveling Electro didn't notice Wolverine, who was flying toward him like a fastball special. Before he knew it, Logan had stabbed him in the torso, sending him plummeting from the sky. Looking at Electro, who was still jumping around despite being stabbed twice, Logan couldn't help but smile.
"Alright, kid, let's take this to the plaza."
Next, a bolt of lightning struck, sending Logan flying. But Electro was also hit by the same force, and both fell toward the ground. Logan was caught by a web, preventing him from smashing into the pavement. Peter landed on a nearby utility pole and asked, "How's the situation, Logan?"
"Hard to say good. I've seen a lot of electric mutants, but this guy's different."
Ignoring the faint smell of roasted meat coming off Logan, Peter dropped into the crater Electro had created. But Electro immediately flew up, blood flowing from his wounds. That blood also glowed blue, sparking electricity when it hit the air.
Peter was slightly dumbfounded.
What kind of Electro is this? Is this even Electro anymore?
Electro was looking for the guy who had stabbed him. He knew it was the infamous Wolverine, but so what? He felt completely charged with power now.
No, it's not enough. I can absorb more energy. I've only had a light snack.
"I need more power!"
"Are you Vergil?"
Peter quipped, even as he instructed Venom to produce insulated webbing, sticking it to Electro's raised hands. He then yanked hard, slamming Electro to the ground: "Ground Fault!"
Before the severely grounded Electro could react, scarlet energy bound his limbs. Then, the finally arrived members of the New Mutants, Sunspot and Cannonball, unleashed their abilities in a burst of darkness. Thermal blasts struck Electro simultaneously, pinning him to the ground.
"You have a telepath on your team, right?"
Peter looked at Electro, held down by Wanda, and turned to the New Mutants team: "Can you stop him from using his power? As long as he keeps using his ability, Genosha's electricity grid can't hold up."
"It's not that simple. Moonstar's ability is essentially telepathy, but she can't yet form telepathic links with humans," Logan, dusting off the debris, walked over. "She can link with animals or create fear-inducing illusions for humans, but if you're expecting her to be like Chuck or Jean, the kid can't do it yet."
Peter looked at Wanda again and saw sweat beading on her forehead. He quickly used his insulated webbing to cover Electro's skin, doing his best to reduce the pressure on her.
Logically, Magneto was the best person to deal with Electro. He could control all forms of magnetism and magnetic fields, which theoretically could completely restrain Electro.
But where was Magneto?
