Magneto arrived at his vault but didn't descend immediately. He already knew from Logan that Mister Sinister possessed the technology to integrate mutant X-genes and that he had the mutant gene of Leech in his possession. Magneto could not approach lightly.
Therefore, he chose to stand atop the vault, extending his hand, sensing everything below. He detected the iron atoms flowing in the blood, responsible for oxygen transport, belonging to approximately five individuals.
Magneto's palm clenched tightly, his expression serious. He sensed that his enemies did not die as he expected from having all the iron drawn from their bodies. Instead, powerful magnetic fields appeared within them—not as strong as his, but sufficient to shield themselves within his magnetic field.
If he had ample time for precise manipulation, he could even dismantle the cellular structure within these bodies. But he didn't have that time; the enemy had arrived. A clear, pleasant female voice rang out from the vault below.
"To me, My Sinister Man."
Floating up via telepathy and telekinesis was "Mister Sinister's Lady" (or Mrs. Sinister), who had brought Electro to Genosha. Following her were a Mister Sinister with wings, a Mister Sinister who shot lasers from his eyes, a Mister Sinister who glided up on a trail of ice, and a Mister Sinister as robust and muscular as a beast, with blue fur.
"Does it feel familiar? Does it feel like your youth has returned, Erik Lehnsherr?"
Mister Sinister's Lady had not only empowered Electro with the Gene-Splicer but had also used the other four empty chambers to create clones based on the original X-Men. Using the telepathic abilities derived from Jean Grey's gene, she controlled her four clones to attack Magneto. Furthermore, she actively launched a psychic attack against Magneto's brain.
"You are too arrogant, Magneto. You didn't even bother to wear your helmet!"
"Arrogant?"
Magneto merely looked at this clown, or these clowns, feeling the sharp pain penetrating his brain. "Do you know how many times I've suffered telepathic attacks since Genosha was established? The reason I don't wear my helmet is because I haven't needed it for a long time!"
He controlled the magnetic field in his own brain, forming a psychic barrier that didn't require a helmet, which instantly blocked the opponent's attack. Next, metal material from the vault shot into the sky, immediately dispatching the utterly useless Beast Sinister clone, who served only as atmosphere, cutting him directly in half.
Mister Sinister's Lady flinched and retreated. Then the Cyclops Sinister clone fired his beam at full power toward Magneto. She had already shrunk the Gene-Splicer with Pym Particles so she could carry it. The sole purpose of these clones was to cover her escape. As for taking down Magneto with telepathy, it was a bonus if it worked, but no great loss if it didn't.
However, she couldn't show any sign of running in front of Magneto. Her "main body" hadn't been injected with Nightcrawler's gene, so she couldn't teleport away. She needed to wait for reinforcements...
The Cyclops Sinister clone's laser struck near Magneto, blocked by a force field shield Magneto raised. Then, countless amounts of metal, controlled by Magneto like liquid, climbed up from the bottomless depths of the vault to the surface, forming swirling streams of liquid metal that engulfed almost the entire palace, creating a pure metal tornado.
The Iceman Sinister clone immediately lowered the surrounding temperature, attempting to counter Magneto by reducing molecular activity speed. Unfortunately, the abilities of these clones could not reach the power level of the originals, so they failed to suppress Magneto. Magneto maintained his shield with one hand, blocking the Cyclops Sinister clone's assault, and with the other, he condensed a great sword made of liquid metal, slicing through the ice pillars created by the Iceman Sinister clone.
The Angel Sinister clone seized the opportunity and charged directly at Magneto. Though he carried no lethal weapons, he was incredibly swift. Magneto knew exactly what Sinister was planning: these clones undoubtedly had the gene of the mutant Leech implanted. If Angel got close, he would weaken Magneto's powers.
Magneto released his great sword, and the liquid metal instantly covered the Angel Sinister clone's wings. The excessive weight immediately overwhelmed him, sending him tumbling toward the bottomless vault. Splat, his wings were broken.
Yet, Mister Sinister's Lady remained calm, even seeing the Iceman Sinister clone thoroughly shredded by Magneto's liquid metal tornado and watching Magneto blind the Cyclops Sinister clone with a deluge of liquid metal.
She had no need to panic.
"The Gene-Splicer. Where is it?"
Magneto stared at Mister Sinister's Lady, descending steadily and asking the most critical question. Just as Mister Sinister's Lady prepared to utter some dramatic lines, Magneto pierced her brain with an iron rod.
Since she hasn't been anywhere else, I might as well kill her and search later.
Magneto thought this as he descended into the vault. However, a cloud of red smoke suddenly appeared at the bottom of the vault. A red version of Nightcrawler, carrying Mister Sinister himself, appeared in the empty space where the Gene-Splicer should have been. Mister Sinister smiled at the descending Magneto.
"I must say, Erik, you are stronger and more formidable than ever. But I regret that I don't need to deal with you. After all, while you were creating a mutant nation, I also found a group of like-minded mutants."
Magneto said nothing, merely clenching his fist. Instantly, an overwhelming tide of metal enveloped them. Sinister raised his hand, struggling to resist Magneto with similar magnetic abilities. He lasted less than two seconds before being utterly crushed into a pulp. But that small amount of time was enough for Azazel (Red Devil) to escape with the Pym Particle-shrunk Gene-Splicer.
Magneto left the vault with a dark expression. Today, although he had killed six of Sinister's clones, the villain had still achieved his objective. Magneto had seen the shrunk Gene-Splicer; undoubtedly, only Hank Pym's technology could have achieved that. He wanted to ask the Avengers how Pym Particles had fallen into Sinister's hands, but as he floated into the sky, he only saw a streak of lightning rapidly fleeing toward Manhattan.
His face grew even darker.
