While Peter was still puzzled about Magneto's location, Wanda's struggle was becoming increasingly difficult. She could clearly feel that, due to her suppression, the energy within Electro's body was growing stronger and stronger from being unable to discharge. Wanda looked at Peter and stated this directly: "The energy in his body is still strengthening. If this continues, he's definitely going to explode."
Cutting off Genosha's power supply was useless now; Electro's body was already glowing intensely blue, nearing transparency. Judging from his expression, it was clear he was in considerable pain.
Peter made a decision almost instantaneously.
"Can you control him and pull him up? Lift him high into the sky," Peter asked the struggling Wanda. The latter managed a difficult nod, and Peter urgently instructed: "Now, throw him into the sky! As far as possible."
"But..."
"No buts. We can't risk lives. He has absorbed too much electricity. We can't guarantee when he'll explode or what the blast radius will be. We have to ensure the safety of the people around here first."
After Peter finished speaking, he told Venom to deploy its wings and begin floating. Then he looked at Wanda: "Now!"
The insulated webbing restraining Electro was torn, and the man was flung high into the sky. Spider-Man followed, flying up with Venom's help. In mid-air, he saw Electro struggling to adjust his posture, attempting to break free from the interference of the chaotic energy. Seeing the villain gradually regain control of his movements, Peter asked his partner.
"Ready?"
[Undoubtedly.]
"Finally!" Electro roared, regaining control of his body. Currents condensed all over him. He seemed to be enduring immense pain, but at this moment, he no longer needed to hold back. He gathered all his strength, releasing nearly all his electrical energy, trying to unleash it towards Genosha Island below.
Then he saw Spider-Man descending from the heavens.
Electro scoffed at this. Just Spider-Man. What could he possibly do? Was Spider-Man going to absorb the electricity he was unleashing?
Peter couldn't absorb such a massive amount of electrical energy. Although he had gained the ability to release bio-electricity and had held Mjolnir, he did possess some energy storage capacity, but it couldn't withstand Electro's impending strike. So, he chose a different method. Peter shot webbing towards Electro. Electro sneered, waving a bolt of lightning that met and shredded the incoming webbing bit by bit.
But this was just a distraction.
Peter was firing insulated webbing, which was clearly useless against the already desperate Electro. He couldn't even try to draw out the entirety of the electricity—Electro wasn't an idiot who'd use a cannon to swat a fly. So Peter was using himself as bait. As he lunged towards Electro and even took a solid lightning strike, Venom was already prepared, landing on Electro's body.
The Symbiote then wrapped around Electro, trying its best to take over his will and direct the lightning release towards the higher sky. Venom succeeded. Countless electrical currents shot into the sky. The brilliant blue electric light almost illuminated the entire area. However, Electro, having released the lightning, no longer needed to endure the pain. He quickly made currents flow across his body's surface, successfully beginning to attack Venom and block Venom's control over him.
But Spider-Man had already arrived.
Peter stuck Electro with insulated webbing. Taking advantage of the villain fighting the Symbiote on his body, he pulled him close in mid-air and then re-fused with Venom, slamming punch after punch into Electro's face. Electro continuously attacked Peter with lightning, yet both Peter and Venom now had far greater resistance to electricity than a normal person. He dragged Electro down in a steady freefall. As Electro received Spider-Man's punches, he despairingly realized that the remaining electricity after his massive discharge couldn't kill, or even get rid of, Spider-Man.
Could it be that the pleasure of freely enjoying the currents, which I've just gained, is about to end? Will I be locked up in that damned place, the Raft, to live a solitary life in a circuit-isolated room?
"Never!"
Before Peter could land a single sarcastic word, he saw Electro's face fill with terror. After roaring that phrase, his entire body burst into a flash so bright it scorched the eyes. The high temperature made Venom shriek and forced Peter to let go—but fortunately, he did let go, because a few seconds into his freefall, Electro literally exploded, becoming a gigantic sphere of light twinkling in the sky before utterly vanishing.
Peter plummeted from the high altitude, watching the complete dissipation of Max Dillon, Electro, in disbelief. Did Electro... self-destruct?
[Oh no, not yet.]
In the atmosphere, countless electrical sparks surged. Then, numerous tiny blue currents condensed, slowly forming a humanoid shape—a figure composed entirely of lightning.
"I... I..."
Electro looked at himself, uttering a heartfelt exclamation.
"I'm so hungry..."
Hunger. After releasing all his lightning and self-detonating once, the genetically altered Electro had finally fully awakened his powers, but he had also exhausted nearly all the electrical power in his body. He felt no joy or satisfaction over his body being made of pure energy; instead, he felt an endless hunger. He was so starved that his mind was somewhat sluggish.
He didn't even care about those annoying guys on the ground anymore. He needed to find food, enough food. No, he didn't need ordinary food now; he needed enough electricity, ample electricity...
So, he flew toward Manhattan.
Peter was falling, but of course, he wouldn't keep falling; Venom could deploy its wings at any moment, but freefall was faster. Soon, however, he was caught. Magneto extended his hand and caught the freefalling Peter, revealing a smile.
"Spider-Man, thank you for helping Genosha reduce its losses and even save the lives of many mutants."
Magneto manipulated the surrounding force field to gently set Peter down, then landed and looked at Logan and his New Mutants team: "It seems the new generation of X-Men are not yet mature enough, Wolverine."
