Having Quicksilver transform into a "hamster" to operate a giant hamster wheel and lure Electro—this was the second critical point of the entire plan: a power source that could be interrupted at any time.
As Peter tore violently, Electro let out a cry of agony. He couldn't believe he had been harmed again. However, what terrified Max Dillon even more was the sensation of his life force draining away. When a person is literally living electricity, every time the electricity is ripped from the body, it represents extreme pain and a weakening experience.
After being torn apart again by Spider-Man, Electro was horrified. He frantically absorbed the residual electricity created and dissipated by the silver-haired "hamster" just moments ago, restoring a small fraction of his energy bar.
Electro wanted to run. In fact, he'd wanted to run ever since Spider-Man showed up wearing that suit, but he never expected the suddenly-lit Baxter Building to be such a blatant trap. They actually built a damn hamster wheel to generate power!
Why a hamster wheel?!
Electro's brain short-circuited for a second, but he quickly snapped back. This was no time to crash. He immediately shot out at supersonic speed. He had to escape New York, flee to a safe place with electricity.
"I'll chase him. Stick to the plan," Peter said to Pietro, asking with concern, "Can you keep up?"
"Of course. Do you think I'm like you guys? You run like grandmas taking a stroll." Quicksilver shrugged, then turned into a nearly invisible bolt of lightning. Peter could only sigh helplessly. "I hate supersonic speed."
Because it means everything I say can't reach the other person unless I grab them.
After muttering resignedly, Peter continued to run. Electro wasn't regaining energy as fast as he was losing it, and after a few more times, Electro would undoubtedly have to surrender. Peter looked up at the blue lightning bolt accelerating wildly in the sky to escape and accelerated his own run. The system attached to his tactical visor constantly monitored his physical condition and finally displayed the current maximum speed of the suit.
Mach 7.
"Perfect! I'm a genius!"
Tony Stark sat in his mansion in California, cheering excitedly. What else could this be called if not perfect? He had developed a brand-new supersonic suit, even faster than his existing supersonic armor!
I need to remind you, Sir. This speed relies on Spider-Man's physique and reaction nerves. An ordinary person cannot handle the extreme conditions at such high velocity.
"I know, I know, just let me be happy for a few minutes." Tony, sporting deep dark circles under his eyes, rolled his eyes helplessly. In some ways, J.A.R.V.I.S. was a real pest. "How's the design work for Mark 41 coming along?"
"It is nearly complete, Sir."
"Excellent. This is a crucial step from zero to one. Micro-storage and telemetry technology... I should be able to sort that out by the Mark... 43 or 44."
Tony said this while pulling out the design blueprints for his new armor. The outcome of this battle was beyond doubt. Electro had been soundly defeated by Peter back in Genosha even without the new suit. Now, with Spider-Man wearing the new suit, the fight was essentially over.
The only issue was...
"Uh, J.A.R.V.I.S., tell the kid to be careful of the enemy self-destructing."
Electro hadn't considered self-destruction yet; he was still focused on escaping.
He bolted toward other areas, quickly flying out of New York City limits. But he was infuriated to find that the high-voltage lines and substations along the way were also without power. Finally, however, he spotted an illusionary light radiating from a gas station and its accompanying motel up ahead. Electro immediately spun around and flew toward it.
If he could just get enough electrical energy, a single Spider-Man would be easy to handle!
He quickly zoomed into the gas station, but something was faster than him. Quicksilver walked out of the motel restaurant, pointing to a giant hamster wheel inside the room: "Look familiar?"
How the hell did you get here?!
Quicksilver shrugged. Was it hard? Watch where you're running, cut the power at the nearest settlement, install the hamster wheel, eat a couple of snacks, and wait for you to show up.
"Look behind you."
Electro was stunned for a moment, then heard a voice he couldn't believe: "Here's Spidey!"
Next, the supersonic-dashing Spider-Man used the suit's contact device to rip a massive amount of lightning from Electro's back again. Electro screamed and flew erratically. He thought about escaping to another place but then thought of the silver-haired kid.
Nowhere was safe!
"To Manhattan... to Manhattan..."
Unconsciously, Electro muttered to himself for some reason. He found his target and immediately bolted back to Manhattan. Peter watched the fleeing Electro, then looked at Quicksilver. "He reacted faster than we expected."
"So he's going for a hostage," Quicksilver said, pointing his lips at the distant lightning bolt. "Still sticking to the plan?"
"Yes, still sticking to the plan."
Electro, having sprinted into Manhattan, looked at the pitch-black city and began searching building by building for people. He quickly spotted a child, only seven or eight years old, snatched him from his mother's arms, and headed for Times Square. Spider-Man caught up at this point, but this time, he didn't rush in because Electro was holding a child.
"Give me power!"
Electro roared. "I want electricity! Restore my power now!"
"Alright, alright, right away. Just don't get excited, because..."
The hand Electro used to grab the child was torn off by Spider-Man. Don't misunderstand; it wasn't the Spider-Man standing in front of Electro, but another Spider-Man wearing the realVelocity Suit who stood behind him. The one in front threw off his mask, revealing his silver hair, and caught the child just before he hit the ground.
That severed arm transformed into pure electrical current, which was completely absorbed by the Velocity Suit.
"Ah! No! My hand!"
Looking at his severed limb, Electro wailed. He painstakingly regenerated the arm, but it made his body look even dimmer. He saw Spider-Man and Quicksilver, who had saved the child.
In an instant, he seemed to understand his fate: locked away in the Raft Prison, spending the rest of his life without electricity.
"Never."
Electro suddenly smiled.
Then, brilliant light flashed across Times Square.
