Chapter 386 - Chapter 386: Tracking the Elementals

Peter Parker knew zero about the Wild Pack, and his knowledge of Silver Sable wasn't much better—a top mercenary who ran Silver Sable International, which was basically the extent of his understanding.

So, when he first heard about an organization called the Wild Pack, he never thought it would be related to Silver Sable.

Of course, this also showed that everything Nick Fury said about hiding identities and operating secretly was nonsense. Otherwise, Peter wouldn't have been asked to appear in person, though it seemed Silver Sable genuinely didn't know the secret identities of the people who came.

After hearing Peter say "the person who saves the world the most," Silver Sable stared at Peter for a moment and gave him a look of disapproval. She certainly didn't believe a 15-year-old high school student could save the world.

So Peter simply shrugged.

"Regardless, I need to know your abilities so I can arrange tactics. The Wild Pack has been pursuing the Elementals for a long time. We are certain that Molten Man and Sandman will appear in Madrid. The team's plan is set; it just needs to be adjusted appropriately based on your abilities."

"So..." Felicia seemed to enjoy needling Silver Sable: "If you could take down the Elementals, why would you need us?"

Silver Sable's gaze grew increasingly unfriendly. Felicia shrugged helplessly: "Overall enhancement of physical capabilities. The specific values of the enhancement aren't very clear, but anyway..."

"Super-Soldier Serum, right? I think I get it."

Interrupting Felicia's lengthy explanation, Silver Sable looked at Cindy. Cindy just handed her a file detailing her relevant abilities. Peter was somewhat envious; he had actually asked Fury if he had a similar file.

Fury's answer was one of helplessness.

You should figure out how many abilities you have first. How many times have you upgraded since the scare over half a year ago?

"The abilities in this report look a lot like Spider-Man's..."

Silver Sable muttered after seeing the report, then looked at Peter: "And you?"

"I am Spider-Man."

Peter saw Silver Sable clearly space out for a moment, then cover her forehead with her hand.

She was silent for a full three seconds, then looked at Peter: "You are Spider-Man."

"Yes."

"You are only in high school?"

"Yes."

"You, a high school student, have taken on probably twenty super-powered people in half a year, wiped out over twenty modified individuals in a single day last month, and resolved an alien invasion?"

"...Yes."

Silver Sable took a deep breath.

"How much are the Avengers paying you?"

Peter: ???

"You were born for this job, Spider-Man. Come join the Wild Pack. I can guarantee that the entire country of Symkaria will fund you. No matter how rich Tony Stark is, he won't be as rich as an entire country."

"I don't fight crime for money." Peter was a little confused by the sudden turn of events: "I fight crime to help other people."

"Join the Wild Pack, and I guarantee you'll have a super-powered criminal to fight every day."

Why does it sound like I'm some kind of freak who chases after super-criminals? Peter grumbled inwardly but then retorted: "I still have to go to school."

"You have the talent to save the world! Why are you still going to school! Every minute you spend in school is a minute you're letting criminals run rampant!"

That... that actually makes sense?

Peter found it hard to refute this point for a moment, but he still shrugged: "I still think I need some time to be myself, besides being Spider-Man. I also have to find time to go to college..."

Peter didn't finish, because he noticed Silver Sable seemed a bit... awkward when she heard him mention going to college.

Did this woman fail to get into college, so she became a mercenary?

"...Well, let's talk about it after you graduate from college. I don't think you'll get into college anyway. Just like me, you put all your energy into other things, so where is the time to study?"

Peter didn't say anything more.

However, he collected some very useful and specific information from Silver Sable's words.

First, the Wild Pack was already planning to hunt the Elementals. Fury likely forced the three of them into the operation.

Moreover, Silver Sable did not know their secret identities and probably thought they were just new high school-aged agents recruited by S.H.I.E.L.D., sent over to gain experience.

That's why Silver Sable hadn't been friendly to them. She didn't know the person who came was Spider-Man. She only thought Fury had shoved three super-powered people into the mission, disrupting the Wild Pack's original deployment.

That made Peter even more puzzled. Not about the Wild Pack's capabilities or plans, but about Fury's goal.

He didn't even choose to tell the collaborators who was coming, so Silver Sable had to figure out their abilities and temporarily adjust the tactics. He knew his purpose in coming was to run a diversion for Fury's real operation.

But was this diversion too careless? There was almost nothing to it. Any random Hydra agent could spot the issue here.

Is this diversion really useful?

"What is the Elementals' goal?"

Peter chose to ask Silver Sable what she might know: "If they are all from the same organization, that organization must have some kind of objective. Has the Wild Pack found anything?"

Regrettably, Silver Sable shook her head.

"The only thing we can confirm is that they are conducting some kind of raid. They are basically attacking various laboratories, S.H.I.E.L.D. warehouses, or former Soviet secret strongholds."

"They are looking for something, but as for what it is, I don't know. Perhaps you'd have to ask someone who knows more."

"Who?"

Silver Sable hesitated to answer this question but ultimately chose not to say: "I will consider how to arrange your entry into the fight. The battle is expected to unfold in Madrid. We'll be in touch then. As for now, enjoy your vacation in Lisbon."

A few minutes later, the three of them left the staff office. Felicia shared her opinion after they stepped out: "I don't like her."

Is it because both of you are older white-haired sisters, and you feel like your character types clash, so you don't like her? Peter muttered internally, but didn't dare say it out loud.

So he explained the situation to his two teammates.

"The Wild Pack says they are tracking the Elementals. In other words, in their own plan, the Elementals are not a threat."

Felicia looked at Cindy, but found Cindy was also confused, and then a smile involuntarily curled up at the corner of her mouth.
