Molten Man took another critical hit from Peter, and he felt a pain he hadn't experienced since his complete transformation. No, to be more accurate, Mark Raxton, the scientist, hadn't participated in combat much and hadn't felt much pain at all.
But Spider-Man delivered it.
After being continuously attacked, Molten Man realized something. He understood why Spider-Man chose him as the breakthrough point—because he wasn't a "living person." His body was composed of high-temperature liquid metal. While capable of radiating intense heat, this also represented his limitations.
The scarcity of that liquid metal itself, coupled with the characteristic that high-temperature metal cools and solidifies when encountering extreme cold, making movement difficult, made him theoretically the weakest and easiest-to-capture member of the Elementals.
In fact, the Savage Brigade had once captured a Molten Man's body, but the Molten Man's true essence, as a spiritual entity, escaped and thus was "resurrected." But what about this time?
Spider-Man's actions against Molten Man were different from the Savage Brigade's. The Savage Brigade targeted him because he was the easiest to capture, but Spider-Man? Spider-Man's reason was entirely different.
Because I am Molten Man, I am your greatest enemy, that's why you are targeting me like this! It must be!
"I'm not easy to deal with, Spider-Man!"
Molten Man said, taking another heavy punch. Then, enduring the pain of being beaten by Spider-Man, he began to rapidly increase his temperature. Under the flames, the surface of his black body began to crack, erupting with extreme heat. Silver Sable gave the order for emergency evacuation almost immediately, and everyone, including Venom and Cindy, started to flee with the people they were protecting.
Molten Man tried to follow Venom but was grabbed by the spiritual Spider-Man and punched again. Molten Man was kept in place, but under his flames, his black liquid metal body was virtually invisible; all that remained was a burning, incandescent red.
Peter realized things were going south, and immediately, in his spiritual form, he dragged Molten Man's spiritual form upwards toward the sky, soaring straight into the clouds. But even so, upon ascending to an altitude of nearly two thousand meters, Molten Man achieved his goal.
As the light refraction in the air changed due to the high temperature, another sun rose over Madrid, the capital of Spain.
The countless water droplets in the air were instantly evaporated. The accumulating sand flow was melted into glass in an instant. The swirling cyclone was extinguished by the high temperature. A fiery red illuminated the entire sky. Molten Man wanted to laugh out loud, but his body had been completely destroyed.
The immense high-temperature flames, in a single moment, completely cleared the clouds in the night sky. Countless starlight sprinkled through the firmament.
The sky was clear, the starlight perfect.
The intense heat still radiated back to the ground. On the site of the Royal Institute of Madrid, Spider-Man's body lay weakly on the ground. The symbiote had long since retreated into his body. Within several hundred meters around him, everything outside the institute, every plant and animal, had its moisture evaporated. Spider-Man didn't look like a dried corpse yet, but Molten Man felt it was close.
The liquid metal molecules that had erupted with high temperatures slowly condensed, re-forming the Molten Man. The liquid metal on his body became almost viscous, turning into a black substance that radiated heat but was no longer so intensely hot, with only a slight flame burning around his body. Molten Man landed on the ground. He was absolutely certain that when he exploded, he saw Spider-Man flee back into his body.
Undoubtedly, that was because the symbiote couldn't endure the high temperature. Spider-Man had to return if he didn't want to become a dried corpse.
He looked at Spider-Man, walked up to him, and flashed a smug smile.
"In the end, I won, Spider-Man. Neither you nor the symbiote on you is a match for me, not a match for a new sun."
Molten Man said, driving his hand to become incandescent red again, about to grab Spider-Man's head. But just before he struck, the opponent uttered a brief phrase.
"The Crimson Bands of Cyttorak."
Crimson chains shot out from Peter's body, instantly seizing Molten Man's spirit. Then, several symbiote tentacles emerged from behind Spider-Man, spraying cryogenic fluid onto Molten Man's body, giving him a physical cooldown.
Peter stood up, brushed the dust off his suit, and looked at Molten Man.
"If I just researched your findings beforehand, I could calculate the range of an explosion caused by an equivalent volume of related heavy metals. The reason you exploded at that altitude wasn't because I could only fly that fast, but because I needed to fly that fast to make you believe you could defeat me, or come close to defeating me."
Peter said, watching the liquid nitrogen spray, feeling the surrounding low temperature, and took a deep breath. Then he tugged at the chains in front of him, dragging out Molten Man's spiritual entity—a scientist who looked to be in his forties and was slightly balding. Peter shrugged slightly.
"Also, I don't necessarily have to use my spiritual state to deal with you. Although I don't know many spells, I'm at least a novice sorcerer. I just needed you to have the impression that Spider-Man must remain in a spiritual state to hurt and attack the Elementals, so you would let your guard down."
"Furthermore, you're right, you are indeed a major problem. High temperatures and sonic waves are things that can cause serious harm to the symbiote. Now, we've at least captured one of you."
"Welcome to prison, Mark Raxton. By the way, I'm quite sure all your teammates got away."
Inside the Royal Institute of Madrid, Silver Sable looked doubtfully as Spider-Girl and Black Cat modified a mobile holding cell, and then she asked hesitantly: "Are you really sure this thing can hold Molten Man?"
"If you're asking me, I don't know, but you have to trust Spider-Man. After all, he's a genuine sorcerer."
Black Cat clapped her hands, signaling the job was done: "It looks like we can safely tour Madrid for three days at least. The remaining Elementals probably need to figure out a countermeasure before they dare to act again, right?"
Looking at the cage, Silver Sable frowned. She had never expected the four transformed members of the Elementals to be magical creatures. Who exactly was the person capable of transforming people into magical beings?
Perhaps only magic can defeat magic?
