Chapter 494 - Chapter 494: Reversing the Future?

Nimrod no longer had any plots or plans left.

Everything had been designed so perfectly. On Earth-616, Nimrod had set up a facade for everyone, making them believe they had plenty of time. He intended to use that gap in time and information to annihilate the X-Men and Genosha, thereby steering the history of Earth-616 toward that of Earth-811. Ultimately, the attempt to "Reverse the Future" would fail, the two universes would merge, and Earth-811 would officially become the definitive future of Earth-616.

But none of that happened.

On Earth-616, due to a lack of intelligence regarding Spider-Man and the fact that the Avengers had timely developed an Ultron Mainframe specifically designed to counter Nimrod, the machine found itself at a disadvantage.

In truth, Nimrod's failure here was almost inevitable.

If it had only been a failure on Earth-616, Nimrod wouldn't have felt much; after all, Earth-811 could have continued to invade other pasts as an alternative solution.

However, first, Peter had asked Miguel to find Takuya Yamashiro, whose giant robot used the Sword Vigor to directly erase the majority of Nimrod's controlled forces. Second, Peter hit Nimrod with an infinite data transmission, directly "burning out" Nimrod's processors.

Consequently, the Nimrod from the year 2059 completely panicked. As a metal originating from Limbo, Promethium tends to return to Limbo. This meant Nimrod's immortality was significantly compromised; total annihilation could prevent any Promethium from remaining for self-healing.

Under normal circumstances, this wouldn't have mattered much. If the resistance hadn't found a power strong enough to defeat Nimrod, these few units could still have easily wiped them out.

But even putting aside that damned giant robot, Apocalypse was more than capable of effortlessly crushing these Nimrod Sentinels.

Most importantly, the Nimrod manufacturing plant had been blown up! This meant no more Nimrod Sentinels could be created to deal with them. The Nimrod Mutant from 2059, back in his own universe with a darkened face, began a large-scale teleportation of other Sentinel models from 2059 into the battlefield.

These units were merely fodder, but they could buy time for the 2059 Nimrod. He had something far more important to do.

This was something that even the Spider-Man of Earth-811 did not yet know.

However, the Peter Parker of Earth-811 reacted instantly. He realized Nimrod had a goal in mind. Combining his knowledge with the data he had seen previously, he was certain the target must be the unfinished Nimrod Mutant still inside the Master Mold.

"No matter what they plan to do with that thing, stop them!"

Peter fired a web. He was the only non-mutant to have undergone Apocalypse's augmentation, finally gaining the ability to produce organic webbing without the need for web-shooters. Peter immediately latched onto the massive Leopardon, using the giant robot as an anchor to swing through the air and search for the Master Mold Sentinel.

It was a colossal machine and theoretically shouldn't have been hard to find. Yet, after scanning a wide area, he found nothing—until Professor X and Apocalypse detected an anomaly through telepathy.

They sensed an unprecedented brainwave.

At this moment, the future Nimrod reached the core of the Master Mold. Within it lay an infant. This was a being created using the 2029 Nimrod program, synthesized with mutant DNA inside the Master Mold's Sentinel factory. He possessed the dual characteristics of both a mutant and a Sentinel; nano-metals were integrated into his body, and he let out the innocent smile of a newborn.

The Master Mold's program issued a warning: the infant was still extremely fragile. The various X-genes required over a decade to fully stabilize, and the Promethium had not yet been injected into his system. But Nimrod wasn't going to wait. The Nimrod program of this era had collapsed; the only surviving copy resided within this infant.

Even more terrifyingly, with the total collapse of Nimrod here, it meant the two timelines of 2059 and 2029 would completely snap apart, just like Earth-616 and Earth-811. He would lose the ability to use this method to ensure that mutants in all worlds were replaced by Nimrod.

"This cannot be allowed... Promethium hasn't been infused? That actually gives me a way... Chronal Transfer Protocol..."

Suddenly, the entire Master Mold Sentinel was ripped from the earth. The future Nimrod watched in shock as Apocalypse pulled the giant machine out of the ground like a common weed. In front of him was Leopardon's Sword Vigor. Nimrod initiated the program; he didn't know if he would be in time, but at this point, he had no other choice.

In the next second, Nimrod appeared behind Apocalypse, attempting to touch him, but his arm was severed by Magik's sword. She had also accepted Apocalypse's power and was capable of harming Nimrod.

As the Master Mold Sentinel exploded in the sky, the infant's brainwaves and life signs vanished completely. Nimrod looked at the group of Spider-Men and the remaining resistance fighters with uncontrollable rage, letting out a final roar: "What have you done?!"

"Uh... saved the world?"

After one of the Spider-Men from an unknown world added that comment, the others chimed in. Then, they all nodded in unison. The future Nimrod took a deep breath and summoned the remaining dozen or so Nimrods, preparing for a final, desperate struggle.

"At this point, you essentially have no chance of victory." Apocalypse picked up his axe and looked at the Nimrod before him. "It's a pity. If you hadn't been so arrogant, perhaps you could have fought me for a long time. But you won't get that chance."

"My Four Horsemen, annihilate him completely!"

About an hour later, Professor Xavier of Earth-811 was completely unable to contact Kitty Pryde of Earth-616 again. The two timelines had been thoroughly severed. Earth-616 had successfully avoided the possibility of spiraling into a "Days of Future Past" scenario.

Earth-616, 1997, USA, Kansas, Gilberti Farm.

A brilliant shooting star streaked across the sky, crashing into the wheat field of a farm. The farm owners, a husband and wife, rushed to the field and saw the fallen meteorite. It wasn't a meteorite; it looked more like... an egg?

The metal sphere opened, revealing an innocent, adorable baby looking up at them foolishly.

"Look, it's a child. We just prayed to the Lord, and He sent us a child."

"Just like Superman," the husband muttered. He put away his shotgun and looked at the child. For some reason, when the child opened his eyes, the man felt a sense of... peace?

"We should adopt this child, Rose," the husband said to his wife. "We need to give him a name. A great name... like Clark Kent."

"How about Sebastian?" the wife suggested. "Sebastian Gilberti?"

The husband nodded. "That would be a good name."
