Chapter 99 - Chapter 99: Lance

Qingwu followed the traces of the fight, and arrived at the very bottom of the cargo hold, where he saw a tightly sealed large door.

On the door was a large red 'R' logo.

Two heavy weapons stood at the entrance, and scattered bullet casings lay on the ground. Qingwu saw dense bullet holes on the surrounding walls.

Qingwu felt a sweep of infrared rays pass over his body. Immediately, the heavy weapons automatically started up, their muzzles aimed at Qingwu.

"What the hell, this thing can still be used after being soaked in water for two months. Since when did Team Rocket's equipment become so high-tech?"

Although Qingwu was complaining wildly in his mind, he still didn't give up.

"Please enter the verification password," a system voice came from the door.

Qingwu remained calm. Although he didn't have the verification password, he possessed a Team Rocket badge.

His position as a Team Rocket captain gave Qingwu authority second only to elite Team Rocket members.

He could access most places in Team Rocket.

Qingwu placed his Team Rocket badge on the LCD sensor screen of the large door.

Qingwu's information was naturally stored in the Team Rocket badge, acting like a secret key.

After iris verification, the large door slowly opened.

"I didn't expect there to be electricity here," Qingwu said, looking at the somewhat messy, brightly lit laboratory.

Qingwu tentatively opened the main computer in the laboratory, and was surprised to find that it was still running.

The computer also stored a large amount of Pokémon experiment data.

Due to the emergency evacuation of the laboratory personnel, the data in the computer was not directly destroyed.

"Chip, directly activate data transfer mode and copy the computer's data to the chip."

"Beep, the chip has been activated. It is currently invading this computer's network and starting data transfer. Currently received 0.01%."

A transfer progress bar appeared before Qingwu's eyes. Because the data in Team Rocket's computer was extremely large, the data transfer was very slow.

Qingwu looked around while receiving the data. Just then, Aron suddenly rushed out of its Poké Ball.

Aron scampered to the collapsed area of the laboratory and dug out a briefcase from it.

Aron happily handed the briefcase to Qingwu, who had almost forgotten Aron's treasure-hunting ability.

Qingwu casually put the briefcase into his backpack. This briefcase was identical to the one So gave him last time to choose Pokémon, specially used for transporting valuable items.

The box was made of the latest nano-materials, and it was said that even a nuclear bomb explosion couldn't crack it open.

Without a specific password, the box couldn't be opened.

However, Qingwu knew there was a way to crack this briefcase. The chip in Qingwu's mind could infiltrate the system of the password box.

Through permutation and combination, it could figure out the briefcase's password.

There were countless culture dishes in the laboratory, but the Pokémon in them were all gone.

It seemed they had been collected by Team Rocket members during the emergency evacuation.

After inspecting a circle, Aron didn't find any more treasures and looked a little dejected.

"Aron, you've done very well. At least you found me this password box."

Qingwu lowered his head and stroked Aron's small head.

Just then, a Dragonite directly broke through the mist and landed on the Ghost Ship. A red-haired man jumped down from Dragonite's back.

"Finally found this place. These Ghost-type Pokémon are really good at hiding. My mission almost failed."

The red-haired man, Lance, sighed.

Lance was the one who understood the whole story. Three months ago, Lance received a secret letter that there was a Team Rocket secret base on the St. Peter.

Lance, as a Pokémon League prosecutor, disguised himself as a crew member and infiltrated the St. Peter. After a month of investigation, he accidentally discovered Team Rocket's secret base on the lowest floor of the St. Peter. So, Lance took action.

With Dragonite's powerful strength, he forced his way into the secret base and indeed found evidence of Team Rocket's illegal Pokémon experiments.

However, Lance didn't have time to copy the data before being discovered by Team Rocket, and a fierce battle ensued between the two sides.

Dragonite's Dragon Pulse detonated the engine room. Just then, the St. Peter inexplicably entered a patch of mist.

The St. Peter, having lost power and unable to steer, crashed directly into the Ghost Ship that had been drifting at sea for a long time.

The Ghost Ship was a nest of Ghost-type Pokémon.

After their nest was destroyed, the swarming Ghost-type Pokémon immediately occupied the St. Peter.

This was why the St. Peter became a Ghost Ship. The enraged Ghost-type Pokémon drained the life force of the Team Rocket members escaping in lifeboats.

Lance didn't know why, after the St. Peter disappeared, rumors spread that the St. Peter was transporting the Heart of the Ocean and Lugia's feather.

Lance could swear to God that when he broke into the laboratory that day, he didn't even see a single Lugia feather.

If Qingwu were beside Lance, he would immediately understand that this was Sakaki's trick.

The St. Peter was registered under Sakaki's trade company, and like the S.S. Anne, it had a huge insurance policy.

If something happened to the St. Peter, who would be the biggest beneficiary? It would definitely be Sakaki.

The reason why rumors spread that the St. Peter was transporting the Heart of the Ocean and Lugia's feather was to increase the amount of compensation.

Lance had two main purposes for retrieving this Ghost Ship: first, to eliminate the Ghost Ship wandering in this sea area to prevent more victims.

Second, to see if Team Rocket's laboratory computer was still operational and to copy the data.

The Ghost-type Pokémon on the St. Peter smelled living humans and swarmed out like a boiling pot.

Cofagrigus, Gengar, Chandelure, and Drifblim – these four ancient ghosts, with grim expressions, led numerous Ghost-type Pokémon in a charge.

"Dragonite, let's go! Use Dragon Pulse!" Lance waved his hand and gave the command to Dragonite.

"Boom!" A huge tremor came from the St. Peter. Even Qingwu, at the bottom of the ship, could feel the strong vibrations.

Qingwu glanced at the chip's copying speed. It had currently copied 50.1%, and the full copy was expected to take about another half an hour.

"Ralts, can you use your psychic powers to see what's happening outside?" Qingwu asked Ralts.

"A giant orange Pokémon and a red-haired person are fighting against Ghost-type Pokémon,"

Ralts said with a serious expression.

"A giant orange Pokémon, a red-haired person," Qingwu repeated with a solemn look.

"Does that orange Pokémon also have a pair of short wings on its back, and does the red-haired person wear a cape?"

Qingwu asked Ralts for confirmation.

"Yes," Ralts nodded.

"This is troublesome. I didn't expect Lance to find this place," Qingwu felt a bit bitter in his heart.

At his current strength, let alone fighting Lance, even a single breath from Lance's Dragonite could wipe out all of Qingwu's Pokémon.

Now, Qingwu only hoped that these Ghost-type Pokémon could hold out longer.

When Qingwu's chip had copied 70%, Lance had already dealt with most of the Ghost-type Pokémon.

When Qingwu's chip had copied 80%, only the four ancient ghosts were desperately holding on. However, Lance's Dragonite had also been afflicted by the ancient ghosts' curse, and its stamina was rapidly decreasing.

When Qingwu's chip had copied 90%, the four ancient ghosts could no longer hold on, and the Pokémon Lance had with him had also been corroded by Aerodactyl.

When Qingwu's chip had copied 99%, Qingwu could already hear footsteps outside and the buzzing sound of heavy weapon bullets striking Aerodactyl.

"Hurry!" Qingwu shouted in his heart, his heart pounding in his throat.

Finally, when the chip finished copying 100%, Qingwu also heard the sound of the door opening.

With a flash of blue light, Qingwu returned to his yacht.

Qingwu quickly started the yacht and sped away.

Only Lance remained, pondering over the now open computer, wondering how it could still be running for so long.
