[Whostolemyduck (Earth): Not a single hit?]
[Gunlovergirl (Earth): Whistle. That's almost impossible to achieve in a war, especially when surrounded by enemies.]
[Beinglittleisnotadisadvantage (Strathorp 7): Isn't that because his beam canceler stopped all energy attacks fired at him, though?]
[Phoenixempress (Fenix Nest): You're right, let me rephrase, it never took any direct damage.]
"Things are finally getting interesting," Aphrodite said with a smirk as she watched Spector Unit Six's simultaneous attack on Angels Fury, Matriarchs' Right and the turret.
"We finally get to see what Adam's mech is capable of in person," Rowena said with interest.
"In person? The way you say that makes it sound like this Spector Unit Six has been used previously; it's never appeared on his streams," Becky asked in confusion.
"Oh, it's apparently been used previously, and I don't doubt that you have heard of it or maybe even witnessed the videos of it, though it's true it's never appeared on his stream, "Rowena replied cryptically with her signature smirk.
"Huh?" Becky replied with a look of confusion.
"What aren't you telling us, Rowena?" Aphrodite asked suspiciously.
"Secret," Rowena replied before adding, "though I will tell you one thing."
"And what's that?"
"Actually, never mind, it will be more fun to watch and see how you react after you discover it for yourself," Rowena said with a wink as she flashed her signature smirk again.
"Huuuuhhhhhh?" Aphrodite replied with clear confusion and annoyance.
💫💫💫
"After slowing both Angels Fury and Matriarchs' Right, Spector Unit Six is now in hot pursuit of the main pack that is still being led by Speed Stone, and it looks like it wont take him long to catch up because the main pack has just encountered four more turrets," Honcho said in excitement as the feed switch to the main pack just in time for everyone watching to see four flashes of light as four laser beams hit four of the mechs out of nowhere.
"Oh dear, Universal Bank, Dwarfinian Pride, Excess Surplus and Eyes of Blood have all been hit by a turret and had their speed reduced by fifty per cent."
"How unlucky, they were barely managing to keep up with Speed Stone before, but now that they have lost fifty per cent of their speed, they're just going to fall further and further behind," Dulaebella said.
"Not only that, but they are now an even easier target for the turrets," Raella added just as the turrets fired off another round of lasers at the four mechs, two of which got hit again.
"Oh my, check out the mech overlay viewers, Excess Surplus barely managed to evade the attack while Universal Bank, Dwarfinian Pride and Eyes of Blood all got hit again, further reducing their speed to twelve point five per cent. If they don't do something, they're never going to reach the centre of the asteroid field." Honcho commented.
"It seems they have come to the same conclusion," Dulaebella remarked as everyone watched the mechs fire the training lasers from their cannons, repeaters, rifles and blasters in the general direction of where the turrets were.
[StealthAssassin9 (Earth): 🤣 What the fuck are those losers doing? They're not going to hit anything with how they're firing all over the place.]
[1000yearsofdeath (Earth): It's spray and pray, baby, yeah. Kekeke.]
[Gunlovergirl (Earth): Seriously, what are they shooting at?]
[Beinglittleisnotadisadvantage (Strathorp 7): Their sensors are not powerful enough to detect the turrets, and they're not close enough to see them visually, so they have to fire randomly in the direction the turrets fired from in hopes of hitting them.]
[Prestigious3horns (Vinox 2): I'm pretty sure after this match, the pilots are going to insist that if the UMB Cup committee puts this match type in the competition going forward, they need to use bigger turrets that their sensors can detect.]
[HackerSu (Trillion): I agree, not being able to detect the turrets is a major hindrance.]
[Lizziethetruepower (Palalxia): They need to learn to suck it up, your enemies in the real universe don't leave traps lying around that you can detect. It's more realistic like this.]
[DeverinianLordMalacoss (Deverinian 9): While I agree with you that it is indeed more realistic, I fear HackerSu is correct. I can see fewer pilots and mechs entering the competition going forward if they don't change this aspect.]
[Lizziethetruepower (Palalxia): Fucking pussies, you don't see the streamer complaining.]
[MercheadAnderson (Palaxia): Well, his mech can somehow detect the turrets, babe.]
[Lizziethetruepower (Palalxia): 🪑]
[MercheadAnderson (Palaxia): Huh?]
[Lizziethetruepower (Palalxia): They don't have a fucking sofa emoji, and this is the closest I could find. Figure it out for yourself what I meant by that.]
[MercheadAnderson (Palaxia): 😭]
[1000yearsofdeath (Earth): Dude really needs to know when to keep his fucking mouth shut. Kekeke.]
"While Universal Bank, Dwarfinian Pride, Excess Surplus and Eyes of Blood are randomly firing in hopes of hitting the turrets that are targeting them, Speed Stone is increasing its distance on them and is clearly in first place to reach the centre of the asteroid field.
Meanwhile, Prime Black is still very far away from the other mechs and making its random turns every so often, though surprisingly, it has yet to meet any obstacles," Honcho reported.
"Surely Prime Black can't keep this lucky streak of not running into any obstacles up, can he?" Raella asked.
"Who knows, but let's ignore Prime Black for now, as Spector Unit Six is about to enter the battle that is currently going on between the four mechs and four turrets. What do you both think he will decide to do here?" Honcho asked.
"If he's smart, he will ignore them all and fly right past, leaving them to it," Raella replied.
"I'm in agreement with Raella on this. If it were me, I wouldn't waste my time on their battle since the goal of the first stage of the match is to reach the centre of the asteroid field, not eliminate your opponents." Dulaebella said in agreement.
"While I agree that's what he should do, isn't there an argument to be made for eliminating your opponents early so that they don't cause you any issues in the next stage of the match?" Honcho asked.
"I can't deny that, but the most logical choice here is what we have already said: forget the fight and aim for the centre of the asteroid field. Besides, this is the UMB Cup, which is generally all about mech battles, right? I have a feeling that one of the stages of this new match type will include battling it out with your remaining competitors." Dulaebella replied.
"Exactly, so why not eliminate as much of the competition in the way that requires you to do the least amount of work? And in this case, that way is to reach the centre of the asteroid field and have them eliminated by the five-minute timer," Raella added.
"It seems that my guests are in agreement that Spector Unit Six's best course of action is to ignore this fight and aim for the centre of the asteroid field," Honcho stated before asking, "But is that what they will do? Well, we're about to find out because they are entering attack range now."
Spector Unit Six rolled and swerved as it flew straight through the battle that was going on between the mechs and turrets, dodging all the lasers that were being shot.
"Look at that manoeuvrability," Dulaebella said in awe before continuing, "I don't know if it's the mech or the pilot, or maybe a combination of both, but Spector Unit Six is dodging the laser attacks with the smallest of movements needed."
"Care to explain why that is important for our viewers, Dulaebella?" Honcho asked.
"To maintain speed," Dulaebella began to explain. "As I'm sure everyone is aware, the shortest distance between two points is a straight line; any deviation from that line makes said distance naturally longer.
The same logic can be applied here; the quickest way to travel between two points is to maintain maximum velocity in that straight line. However, any attacks you are forced to avoid while travelling naturally make you veer off that straight line and alter your speed, therefore making the journey both longer and slower.
To minimise both the loss in speed and the increase in distance, you want to try and make the smallest alterations as possible, which is what Spector Unit Six is doing.
If you look closely, you will see that he is only altering his course when he absolutely has to and even then only by the smallest amount. Much of the time, he is dodging the laser attacks simply by performing barrel rolls so that the laser narrowly brushes past him without actually making contact.
I have no idea where the pilot of Spector Unit Six learnt his skills, but they are on another level and some of the best I have ever seen."
"You rate Diva Lorelie's boyfriend that highly?" Honcho asked.
"Riiiigggghhhttt, I forgot that the pilot is Diva Lorelie's boyfriend," Dulaebella said in realisation before continuing, "Well, she got herself one hell of a mech pilot for a boyfriend. If he were competing in the main competition instead of the charity match, I would put him as one of the favourites to win the entire thing."
