Chapter 423 - Chapter 423: Roast

"I bet Leiko didn't like that," Adam remarked.

"Haha, that's putting it lightly," Aphrodite said with a chuckle.

"Not long after Koki made her statement, people started making accusations against Omega Entertainment," Rowena continued to explain, "These accusations ranged from rumours that Omega Entertainment was treating its artists poorly, to internal disputes and even that some of the signed celebrities were sleeping with management for benefits.

As the rumours increased, Omega Entertainment's reputation continued to spiral until no new celebrities wanted to sign with them and most of their existing celebrities wished to leave.

Because of this, Omega Entertainment's reputation started to plummet and suspiciously, the majority of the celebrities that left ended up at Alpha Entertainment.

Eventually, Omega Entertainment could no longer support itself and collapsed.

Although nothing was ever proven, many rumours started to spread during Omega Entertainment's final days that Leiko was the one behind the spreading of the rumours, which only increased after Omega Entertainment's collapse."

"I take it nothing was proven?" Adam asked.

"That's correct. While the Felinia Seven security forces conducted an investigation, no evidence linking Leiko or Alpha entertainment was found to Omega Entertainment's eventual collapse," Rowena replied.

"So you're both suspecting that Koki is the one who hired the Noir Family?" Lorelie asked.

"That's the most likely scenario given Leiko's comment earlier and the Noir Family wanting Alpha Entertainment's financial records for Universal Year Thirty-Two Thirty-Six," Aphrodite said.

[StealthAssassin9 (Earth): I guess there is corruption all over the universe.]

[CEOHopkins (Earth): That's not corruption. It's the act of spreading false rumours about a rival company.]

[LadyErkath (Deverinian Prime): Emma is right.]

[DeverinianLordMalacoss (Deverinian 9): Emma? When did you two become such close friends?]

[LadyErkath (Deverinian Prime): We have been communicating almost daily since the streamer's AI allowed us to communicate directly.]

[DeverinianLordMalacoss (Deverinian 9): Riiggghhtttt, that was a thing. What have you two been discussing?]

[CEOHopkins (Earth): Mainly just exchanging business strategies.]

[LadyErkath (Deverinian Prime): That's correct. Though I do seek Emma's advice on how Earth's fashion companies go about selling their clothing.]

"So what shall we do?" Adam asked just as everyone heard Number Nine say.

{"This is it. Mission complete, all team members proceed to your exit points."}

{"Copy."}

{"Leaving now."}

Everyone watched as Number Nine withdrew the data drive from the console and stored it in a pouch on her belt before leading her team out of the safe and sealing it shut.

"Do you plan to let them go?" Eri asked while shooting Adam a curious look.

"What do you think he should do?" Lorelie asked while looking at Eri.

Eri thought for a few moments before saying, "I'm not a huge fan of the Noir Family. I also don't like what Leiko is rumoured to have done to her childhood friend. Honestly, in an ideal world, I would have the Noir Family fail while Koki still acquires the financial information."

"That's rather greedy of you, isn't it?" Aphrodite asked with a smirk.

"I did say 'in an ideal world," Eri replied while scratching her cheek.

"Babe?" Lorelie asked as she looked at Adam with bright eyes.

"You want me to arrange for the Noir Family to fail, but for their client, who we are assuming is Koki, to still receive the information she requires?" Adam replied after taking a moment to admire Lorelie's beautiful green eyes.

"Yes," Lorelie replied with a bright smile.

"Is that even possible?" Eri asked in surprise.

"Hmm," Adam replied as he thought for a moment before saying, "Preventing the Noir Family from leaving with the information and getting it to the client is easy; the difficult part is finding out for certain who the client is."

[HackerSu (Trillion): Getting the information is the easy part? Wouldn't that normally be the hard part, since it involves accessing the computer core like the Noir Family just did.]

[Justiceistruth (Earth): Maybe he plans to just send them the stream footage from the data drive?]

[HackerSu (Trillion): I doubt it. While that would show the information. It's not admissible in court.]

"How do you plan to get the information?" Aphrodite asked curiously.

"I already have it," Adam replied, causing all the women's eyes to widen in surprise before he said, "Spector, resume the elevators' normal operations."

[[Afirmative.]]

After Spector's response, the elevators that Leiko and Chief Ryu's group occupied began to rise properly and no longer stopped at every floor.

{"Leader. The elevators have resumed operating normally."} Number Ninty-Three suddenly reported.

{"Fuck, talk about bad timing. Also, I told you to withdraw."} Number Nine replied.

{"I was just about to when I noticed the change. I'm leaving now."}

"Spector. Secure the security office," Adam instructed.

[[Affirmative.]]

The stream switched to the security office as everyone watching saw Number Ninty-Three approach the door and scan their uniband against the door's access panel in order to open it, only for it to deny access and remain shut. Number Ninty-Three could be seen repeatedly trying their uniband against the doors' access panel, attracting the attention of the other security officers in the room, who came over to investigate.

[AlamoMatador4thewin (Earth): Do you suppose he will trap the Noir Family members in other parts of the building like he just did to Number Ninty-Three?]

[Beinglittleisnotadisadvantage (Strathorp 7): That seems to be the case.]

[Noobkiller9000 (Earth): Seriously, having complete control over the building is broken as fuck.]

[Emojisonly (Earth): 💯]

"Remove Number Ninty-Threes credentials from Alpha Entertainments systems," Adam ordered.

[[Affirmative.]]

"Oh, that's cruel, but I like it," Aphrodite said with an evil smirk.

"Show us both teams, please," Adam requested before the holographic screen switched back to team one and a second holographic screen appeared next to the first and showed team two.

All the viewers in the known universe watching also had a second holographic screen suddenly appear next to the first. Meanwhile, the viewers on Earth had their stream perform a split-screen to show the two streams.

[StealthAssassin9 (Earth): Ohhhh split-screen.]

[Justiceistruth (Earth): I hate split-screen, it's always harder to see anything.]

[Handsome3horns (Vinox 2): Sucks to be you, Earthlings, we just had a second holographic screen pop up. Kekeke.]

Everyone saw that team one, which had just left the computer core, were now heading past the elevator and towards one of the staircases, while team two, which had originally been heading towards the computer core, had instead changed course and was heading towards the nearest emergency staircase that led to an emergency exit.

"Now, how do we find out who hired the Noir Family?" Adam asked aloud.

"You mean you don't have a plan?" Rowena asked with a smirk.

"Why did you think I would?" Adam asked.

"Well, you always seem to have some sort of scheme in mind," Rowena replied.

"Hehe, she's not wrong," Lorelie added with a giggle.

"I'm not all-powerful," Adam replied while rolling his eyes.

[Handsome3horns (Vinox 2): Boo. 👎]

[Emojisonly (Earth): 👎]

[1000yearsofdeath (Earth): You're letting down your viewers, streamer. Kekeke.]

"I guess I'll help out this time then," Rowena said before accessing her own uniband and making a holocall, which was answered after a few seconds, causing a holographic screen to appear above her uniband and show an attractive Leonian woman who wore a surprised look.

"Diva Rowena?" The Leonian asked in surprise.

"Hello, Koki, it's nice to see you again," Rowena greeted with a smile.

"Yes, yes. The pleasure is mine," Koki replied while still wearing a surprised look before asking, "What can I do for you?"

[Superior4horns (Vinox 3): Boom. Diva Rowena with the save.]

[AlamoMatador4thewin (Earth): Diva Rowena saves the day.]

[Justiceistruth (Earth): What happened to him always saving the day? You're losing your touch, streamer.]

[1000yearsofdeath (Earth): I guess the streamer is losing his touch. He sucks now. Kekeke.]

[Justiceistruth (Earth): Yeah. Diva Rowena needs to start streaming so that we can all go watch her instead.]

"Wow, your chat loves you," Aphrodite said as she tried to stop herself from laughing at the chat's comments.

"Hehe, it seems you're losing your touch, babe," Lorelie said with a giggle.

[OrangeeyedStace (Felinia 7): Let's just hope he doesn't lose his touch in the bedroom. 😹]

[Phoenixempress (Fenix Nest): Even his girlfriends are teasing him. 😹]

[OracleRomy (Elysium): Why is everyone being so mean to the streamer? It's not his fault that he couldn't find out if Koki hired the Noir Family.]

[NonpareilRaphilia (Aaru): They're teasing him, Romy. 😹]

[OracleRomy (Elysium): Huh? 😵‍💫]

[Celebrityhunter69 (Earth): Oracle Andromeda is almost as innocent as Tephe. 😍]

[DeverinianLordMalacoss (Deverinian 9): Allow me to explain Oracle Andromeda.]

[OracleRomy (Elysium): Please do, Lord Malacoss.]

[DeverinianLordMalacoss (Deverinian 9): The issue lies with the fact that so far, any issue the streamer has come across, he has solved himself, or with the help of his AI. This is the first time that someone else has had the chance to fix the issue instead.

The chat is simply taking the opportunity to tease the streamer since they have never had the opportunity to do so in the past.]

[1000yearsofdeath (Earth): Chats do love to roast their favourite streamer. Kekeke.]
