Chapter 489: The Yi Mo Strike!
The turmoil caused by the power struggle in the Hall of Darkness was quickly quelled with the appearance of Lin Fan and the swift, authoritative action of Qingtan. With a combination of power and diplomacy, the chaos was settled without much bloodshed.
Among the upper echelon of the Hall, only the Grand Elder was removed. Instead of weakening the Hall, this resolution allowed Qingtan to solidify her position and fully control its vast powers.
From this moment forward, Qingtan would no longer just be a provisional Hall Master—she was now the true sovereign of the Hall of Darkness, and even hailed by many as the Empress of the Northern Xuan Region.
After the ceremony concluded, Qingtan spent a little time alone with Lin Fan. Then, she returned to handling post-ceremony matters and stabilizing her control.
As for Lin Fan, he chose to remain in Darkness City temporarily.
…
Deep in the heart of the city, in a quiet bamboo forest, stood a simple bamboo hut.
Inside, Lin Fan sat in silent cultivation, waiting for Qingtan to complete her affairs so they could return to the Eastern Xuan Region together.
That night, while meditating, Lin Fan's eyes suddenly opened. A cold glint flashed across them as he sensed an unexpected presence.
With a flicker, he exited the bamboo hut and looked up at the night sky.
There, beneath the full moon, a figure cloaked in black stood atop a bamboo stalk, his black eyes glowing eerily under the moonlight.
"Heh… You must be the Lin Fan the Four Kings Palace spoke of," the shadow said with a low laugh.
"And you must be another one of the Yi Mo," Lin Fan replied, voice calm.
The figure raised his head slightly, revealing a face etched with demonic runes, and then grinned—his white teeth glinting with a chilling sharpness.
"I am of the Seven Kings Palace of the Demonic Abyss. I've come… for you."
Lin Fan didn't look surprised. His expression remained indifferent. "You've come for me? What do you want?"
"To kill you, of course," the Seventh King replied with a smile. "You rank quite high on the Demonic Abyss's kill list."
"We'll see if you have what it takes."
"Soon enough," the Seventh King smiled. "However… this isn't the best place to fight. So we'll be asking you to come along."
As he finished, he waved a hand.
Space warped, and five more figures emerged from the shadows—all at the level of Yi Mo Kings, exuding powerful, malevolent auras.
Each one raised a hand. Black light burst from their palms and intertwined in the air, forming a teleportation array that quickly surrounded Lin Fan.
Lin Fan didn't resist.
He could tell that the array was only for spatial relocation. He didn't want to fight here—not in Qingtan's home, not where the collateral damage might be severe.
So, silently, he allowed it.
RUMBLE!
Space around him twisted violently.
"Teleport!" the five Yi Mo Kings shouted.
In the next moment, the teleportation array activated—and the figures of Lin Fan, the Seventh King, and the five Yi Mo Kings vanished from the bamboo forest.
Only the residual spatial fluctuations remained.
…
A dense forest bathed in moonlight.
Silver light fell across the trees like a soft mist.
Suddenly, the air trembled—and black light flashed in the sky.
When the light faded, several figures appeared—Lin Fan, the Seventh King, and his five companions.
"Heh, this is a nice place. A fitting location for your grave," the Seventh King said, smiling as he looked around.
They had chosen to draw Lin Fan away from the Hall of Darkness to avoid any unpredictable interference.
But what the Seventh King didn't realize was that Lin Fan had let them bring him here.
If he hadn't wanted to go, their teleportation array wouldn't have worked on him.
Lin Fan looked at the enemies before him—one peak Two-Tribulation Samsara Yi Mo, and five more at the standard Samsara level.
Not a bad lineup.
But to him… not a real threat.
Lin Fan smiled. "Maybe this place will be your grave instead."
"Still so arrogant," the Seventh King chuckled, then waved his hand.
BOOM!
The five Yi Mo Kings released a torrent of demonic energy that surged into the air, forming a massive dark dome that enclosed the forest.
No energy could escape now. No reinforcements. No witnesses.
"It's done," the Seventh King said. "Now we fight!"
Black mist surged from his body, thick and sticky like a demonic sea. The trees around them withered instantly, and even the natural energy of the world screamed as it was drowned.
WHOOSH!
With a flick of his finger, the Seventh King sent a beam of liquid-like demonic light tearing through space toward Lin Fan.
Seeing the incoming strike, Lin Fan's eyes turned sharp.
With a surge of yuan power, a thunder spear formed in his hand.
CRASH!
The spear and the demonic light collided.
CLANG!
Sparks burst from the impact. Space cracked. Lin Fan was pushed back several dozen meters.
But his expression remained calm.
He raised a hand—and summoned two clones of himself.
And behind him, the Devouring Corpse appeared, wielding its Devouring Blade.
SWOOSH!
The three figures struck together—each targeting a different Yi Mo King.
BOOM! BOOM!
Within seconds, two Yi Mo Kings were obliterated by the clones.
The third was locked in a deadly duel with the Devouring Corpse.
"What?!"
The Seventh King and the remaining Yi Mo Kings were stunned.
The Yi Mo possessed cloning abilities as well, but theirs were nowhere near this powerful.
And if Lin Fan's clones were this strong—how powerful was his true body?
But when they'd clashed earlier, Lin Fan's power hadn't seemed that overwhelming.
"…Fall back!"
The Seventh King ordered the others to retreat, his eyes fixed on Lin Fan with newfound seriousness.
Then—he made his move.
BOOM!
The demonic sea behind him surged violently and transformed into a nine-headed demon serpent, each head exhaling thick waves of shadowy fire.
The beast roared, and its power shook the very heavens.
Then it lunged at Lin Fan.
Space around it shattered from the pressure.
