The open space in Ravenclaw Manor was still that afternoon, lit by the golden colour of a sinking sun. Evelyn walked alongside Lucy, her long coat swishing against the stone paths as she breathed in the fresh air. The gardens were always her favourite part of the place, a haven where stress seemed to disappear. She had started making the walks a regular habit, a way of letting her people see her outside of the meeting rooms.
It was supposed to be normal. Safe.
The soft whisper of leaves swung above, then the pitch changed. A loud hiss cut through the air.
Before Evelyn could react, something cut across her arm. Pain was savage and sudden. She screamed, stumbling as red liquid appeared on her sleeve.
"Arrows!" Lucy exclaimed.
