Chapter 125: Sabo's Crisis

Is Doflamingo the biggest enemy in this battle?

The answer is, of course, not!

Although the target of the war was Donquixote Doflamingo, Ace knew very well that too many forces were involved behind this conflict. Chief among them were the Beast Pirates, led by Kaido of the Beasts, one of the Four Emperors. But the most dangerous force of all was the World Government.

The deal between Doflamingo and Kaido was tied directly to the growth of the Beast Pirates' military strength. Now that Ace had defeated Doflamingo, Kaido would never let it slide.

As for the World Government—once they learned of Ace's bloodline as the son of the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger, and saw the terrifying strength and potential he demonstrated in this war—they would absolutely attempt to eradicate him, even if it meant starting a war greater than Marineford.

Ace had grown too fast. His rise and power level even surpassed that of his father.

"The World Government must have sent an Admiral... I wonder if Sabo can handle it." Ace stared at the distant sea as if he could see the Revolutionary Army fleet clashing with the Navy.

Though confident in Sabo's strength, Ace knew the Revolutionary Army's Chief of Staff had only recently eaten the Yami Yami no Mi—the Darkness-Darkness Fruit, which Ace had taken from Marshall D. Teach. Sabo now wielded the most sinister power in Devil Fruit history, potentially making him stronger than Ace.

If only one Admiral had been dispatched, Sabo could handle it. If two came, he could likely still escape. But if all three Admirals were sent...

"They wouldn't go that far, right?" Ace murmured, though concern crept into his expression. He reached for his Den Den Mushi, trying to contact Sabo.

But no one answered.

Ace's concern deepened. "Sabo... please be safe."

Though he had defeated Doflamingo, Jack the Drought of the Beast Pirates was still on Dressrosa. Leaving now would expose the island.

Still, Ace gritted his teeth and stood. "No—Sabo's safety comes first, even if I give up everything I gained here."

Just then—

Buru buru buru... buru buru buru...

The Den Den Mushi rang.

Ace grabbed it instantly. "Sabo! Are you okay?"

"I'm fine, Ace," came Sabo's slightly strained but still cheerful voice. "How about you? Did you take down the Warlord? I just fought an Admiral... and won."

"You beat an Admiral head-on?!" Ace was stunned. He had expected Sabo to put up a fight—but to defeat someone of Admiral rank outright?

Not wanting to be outdone, Ace cleared his throat, glanced at Doflamingo's broken corpse nearby, and said, "Tch. That's not bad, Sabo. But I just killed Doflamingo."

"What?! You took him out completely? Damn, that's even better!" Sabo laughed.

"I also smashed the Navy's fleet. I doubt the World Government will move again so soon. I've got some things to deal with, so I'm sending Karasu to Dressrosa. Remember what you promised me."

"Of course. The Revolutionary Army gets everything we recovered here," Ace replied. After a pause, he added seriously: "Sabo... you really okay?"

"I'm just exhausted. That light geezer—Kizaru—put up a fight. But his injuries are as bad as mine. I definitely got the better end of that battle."

Ace chuckled. "You're still cocky. But remember, I fought two Admirals last year. I'm still the older brother."

They continued to bicker light-heartedly before hanging up.

...

North of Dressrosa, dozens of nautical miles away, a Revolutionary Army ship floated across the sea. A heavily bandaged Sabo lowered the Den Den Mushi. His movements aggravated his wounds.

"Sabo-kun, are you alright?" asked Koala with concern.

"Just tired. Fighting an Admiral comes at a cost," Sabo said with a pained smile. "Still, to wound Kizaru like that? Totally worth it."

"Ace took down Doflamingo. We've won this round," Koala said proudly, supporting him.

"Yeah. We did it..." Sabo murmured.

But then—

A sinister laugh boomed overhead.

"Hahaha! To run into the second-in-command of the Revolutionary Army in a place like this... what luck!"

Sabo and Koala looked up sharply.

A giant sky ship descended through the clouds. On its bow stood a hulking brute with wild hair, broken teeth, and a jagged grin.

A new threat had arrived.
