Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Discovering New Ways to Play

Lin Fan glanced over with curiosity.

"How much did you invest?"

Zhou Momomo casually held up two fingers.

"Not much. Just twenty million."

Lin Fan blinked, looking at her with an amused expression.

"Twenty million… and you call that 'not much'? You're the definition of a rich little princess."

Zhou Momomo grinned, her gaze sweeping over him playfully.

"You're not wrong. I am a rich little princess."

"But right now... I'm looking for a kept man. Interested in applying?"

Lin Fan chuckled.

"Alright then, what's the test? How do I get the job?"

Zhou Momomo's eyes twinkled with mischief.

"Simple. I invested twenty million and lost ten. If you can help me earn it back—and make a profit—then you've passed."

"But it's only valid for today. Deal?"

Lin Fan was speechless.

"Let's not even talk about whether I can pull it off. With that god-level play of yours, losing forty million? I have to say, you're really talented in this area."

Zhou Momomo pouted.

"I just had a moment of bad judgment, alright? If I hadn't picked the wrong direction last time, how could I have lost so much?"

While Zhou Momomo played a match-3 game on her second phone, Lin Fan quietly began to study her trades.

She had bought in at 2,000 yuan per ton—ten million in total.

Lin Fan asked the system:

[Item Name: Steel Futures]

[Current Price: 7,000 yuan/ton]

His eyes widened.

From 2,000 to 7,000... a 5,000 yuan increase per ton?!

Ten million at that rate... that would be thirty-five million profit?

An idea lit up in Lin Fan's mind like discovering a new continent. A strange feeling welled up inside him—a mix of excitement and disbelief.

Without hesitation, Lin Fan executed a full long position on the rising market using Zhou Momomo's account.

He handed the phone back to her, but she was still focused on her game and absentmindedly slipped it into her pocket.

Then, Lin Fan took out his own phone and prepared to test the waters himself.

He refreshed the steel futures page.

Current Price: 1,900 yuan/ton.

Lower than before.

With only a few minutes left before the market closed, he quickly bought another ten million worth—betting on the rise again.

If he didn't have the system's insight, he might've panicked and gone short. But with this guidance, even a plummeting price felt like an opportunity.

Everything was done.

All that remained was to wait for a payday—an estimated 36.84 million yuan in return.

Lin Fan sprawled on the lounge sofa with a satisfied grin.

Zhou Momomo finally finished her game and glanced over, seeing Lin Fan grinning like a fool.

"Why are you smiling like that? Did something good happen?"

Lin Fan looked at her and chuckled.

"Of course. I'm thinking about how I'm going to make a lot of money soon. And on top of that... I might just win over a beautiful rich lady like you."

He rubbed his hands and looked at her meaningfully.

"Just thinking about it makes me excited."

Zhou Momomo rolled her eyes and took out her phone.

"…Wait, Lin Fan—you went all in?"

Lin Fan grinned.

"Yep. How else am I supposed to win both your money and your heart?"

"Whether I win or lose is a 50-50 chance. Getting you? Another 50-50. Might as well leave it to fate."

Zhou Momomo narrowed her eyes, half amused, half skeptical.

"Well then, Fan Fan, you'd better get ready to be my little househusband."

Lin Fan glanced at the time.

"Not long until closing. Want to go check the results?"

Zhou Momomo smiled and smacked her forehead.

"Right! We've been chatting so much, I almost forgot!"

What's gotten into you, Zhou Momomo? She scolded herself inwardly. You're usually not this giddy.

But it wasn't really her fault—Lin Fan's casual and teasing tone had an easy-going charm. Most people around her were either overly respectful or terrified of offending her. Lin Fan, however, treated her like a normal girl, and somehow, it was refreshing.

She opened the trading app.

Purchase price: 2,000 yuan/ton

Current price: 1,890 yuan/ton

She sighed.

"See? It's still going down. We're going to lose today. Only a minute left until the market closes."

Lin Fan glanced at the screen. The price was still dropping—but he trusted the system.

Completely.
