Chapter 22 - Chapter 22: Ungrateful

Inside the bank, Li Ming glanced through the glass and immediately understood what was happening outside.

To be honest, Qianye Bank had really lucked out.

Originally, Lin Fan had intended to deposit his funds with Huahai Bank, but they turned him away and practically handed the business over to them.

After finishing the procedures, Lin Fan exchanged a few polite words with Li Ming, then turned to leave.

The moment he stepped out of the bank's glass doors, Xiao Sanhai rushed over, clutching Lin Fan's shoulder with both hands.

"Lin Fan, earlier was my fault—I sincerely apologize!"

"We're old classmates, right? Come on, transfer that two hundred million to my branch at Huahai Bank! I'll give you the highest interest rate and waive every possible fee, even on demand deposits!"

"I promise—absolutely the best deal!"

His eyes were filled with desperation and eagerness.

But Lin Fan simply brushed his hand off coldly.

"I already gave you a chance."

You ignored me when I was down—but now, you can't even reach me.

Xiao Sanhai's face twisted with regret.

He suddenly dropped to his knees right in front of Lin Fan.

Not out of guilt.

But to beg—to try to salvage this deal!

That six-figure commission was too tempting!

Lin Fan looked at him kneeling there, his face full of fake sincerity, and couldn't help but sneer.

"For just a bit over a hundred thousand, you're willing to kneel?"

Once upon a time, that amount had been Lin Fan's entire annual salary.

He used to hear lines like this from the mouths of the wealthy.

Now, he could say the same… while standing tall.

His gaze swept over the gathered crowd.

Anyone he looked at quickly turned away, some lowering their heads in shame.

Almost everyone here had mocked him earlier—and now they'd all been ruthlessly slapped in the face.

Two hundred million!

Meanwhile, most of them couldn't even scrape together ten million.

Lin Fan's voice rang out cold and clear:

"If I remember right, didn't someone say earlier—if I actually had two hundred million, he'd drop his pants and have diarrhea right on the spot?"

The crowd instantly turned to look at a man whose face turned pale.

He chuckled bitterly. "Mr. Lin Fan, I truly apologize for earlier…"

"As for, uh, the diarrhea thing… I'll do it when I get a stomachache. Can't force it right now."

His face was burning red as he forced out a smile. He could feel his toes curling in his shoes from secondhand embarrassment.

He fled the scene in shame.

After that, Lin Fan prepared to leave. With the money deposited, it was time to take care of more important things.

As for Huahai Bank's repayment?

It wasn't that he didn't want to repay—it was that they themselves refused to let him. Not his problem anymore.

Seeing Lin Fan turn to leave, Xiao Sanhai panicked.

Even after kneeling, the man still walked away?

The humiliation burned.

"Lin Fan, wait!"

Lin Fan paused and turned back, puzzled.

Xiao Sanhai suddenly lunged toward the two security guards nearby and viciously grabbed their collars.

Then—slap!

Slap slap slap!

Crisp slaps echoed through the street like firecrackers going off.

The two guards were soon black and blue but didn't dare fight back.

They could show off when bullying Lin Fan—but in front of Manager Xiao, they were powerless.

After venting his fury, Xiao Sanhai turned back, panting heavily.

"Lin Fan, they insulted you just now. I've taught them a lesson! Are you satisfied?"

Lin Fan glanced at the two men, barely standing, their faces swollen and bruised.

He nodded lightly. "That's fine. I'm quite satisfied."

Xiao Sanhai's eyes lit up instantly. "Since you're satisfied, how about transferring the money to us now?"

"I swear—I'll get you the best deal possible!"

Though he wore the title of branch manager, his actual salary was less than 50,000 yuan a year.

A six-figure commission? That was life-changing money.

Lin Fan, however, just shrugged.

"Satisfied? Sure. But why would I deposit my money with your bank?"

With that, he turned and left without a second glance.

He knew exactly what kind of man Xiao Sanhai was—there was no reason to stay in contact, much less do him any favors.

Just as Lin Fan took a few steps, a graceful figure emerged from Huahai Bank—

Chu Yao.

The elegant sway of her long legs and bouncing curves drew every eye on the street.

A few sleazy bystanders even pulled out their phones and began snapping photos.

But Chu Yao didn't care.

Since childhood, she had been used to being admired. She lived her life center stage.

But the moment she spotted Xiao Sanhai on the ground and the two battered security guards, her expression turned cold.

She approached and asked what had happened.

When she learned the full story, her beautiful eyes widened in disbelief.

Two hundred million?

So she had misjudged him…

But even so, she wasn't nearly as excited as Xiao Sanhai.

Three hundred million might sound like a lot, but to the daughter of Huahai Bank, it wasn't even worth blinking over.

Wearing a limited-edition Chanel belt bag, Chu Yao stepped toward Lin Fan and looked him up and down.

"I misjudged you."

"But Qianye Bank is on the verge of collapse. Their branches are being bought out by us almost every day."

"Your money isn't safe there."

"If you transfer it to us, I'll personally ensure you get the most favorable interest rate. What do you say?"

Her tone?

Neither polite nor sincere.

She spoke as though bestowing a royal favor.

Lin Fan was instantly amused.

Putting aside the character of Huahai Bank—

With this kind of attitude, he would have to be insane to entrust them with his money.

Expression turning cool, Lin Fan replied indifferently, "It's my money. Where I choose to put it… doesn't concern you, does it?"

Chu Yao's eyes instantly darkened.

She had offered Lin Fan an opportunity out of generosity—and this was how he repaid her?

But as the noble daughter of Huahai, she couldn't openly lose her composure.

Still, her icy gaze said it all.

She stared coldly at Lin Fan and sneered:

"Don't get cocky. Two hundred million is nothing. To Huahai Bank, it's not even a drop in the ocean."

"The fact I was willing to invite you to deposit it with us means I thought highly of you."

"Ungrateful fool. Let's see how long you last."

Then she turned on her heel and left without another word.

VROOM!

The roar of a BMW's V8 engine echoed through the street.

And she was gone.
