The Time Nest was extremely spacious, with Chronoa and Xeno Patrolman standing in front of the scroll library.
"Hi, Raditz! And this must be Mr. Trunks, right?" Chronoa greeted them with a wave and a smile. "Welcome to Toki Toki City."
"Ah, S-Supreme... Hello, Supreme Kai of Time." When seeing Chronoa for the first time, Trunks looked very reserved. Seeing that Chronoa really was a little girl as Raditz had said, his cheeks were still slightly red.
Trunks was originally a shy teenager, full of justice and youthful passion—he looked very likable. But his handsome appearance made people feel he might not be strong enough.
Xeno Patrolman wielded a sword, and this Trunks also carried a sword on his back, but their auras were completely different. Xeno Patrolman stood poised like his blade—straight and sharp, with eyes that flickered coldly.
The Supreme Kai of Time had told him she wanted to test the newly arrived Time Patroller today—essentially, a sparring match to gauge each other's skills.
So from the moment they met, he had adopted a serious attitude and was ready for combat.
But the other party didn't seem to pay attention, standing beside Raditz and looking around curiously with amazed expressions. When his eyes brushed over Xeno Patrolman, they didn't pause for even a moment.
Trunks really didn't think much of Xeno Patrolman. After all, following a year of training in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, his strength had improved by leaps and bounds, and he had surpassed the basic Super Saiyan level. After spending time with Raditz and the others, fighters of Xeno Patrolman's caliber weren't uncommon in his experience. He even wondered why there weren't more powerful fighters here.
"Hmm... ahem, since you want to join the Time Patrol, you must first pass a test." Chronoa walked across the cobblestone path with clear steps, looking at Trunks. "You'll fight with him. If you win, you pass the test. Although Raditz says you're strong, I still want to see your strength with my own eyes."
"Fight him?" Trunks hesitated.
"What? You don't want to accept the challenge?" Chronoa asked with her hands on her hips and a smile.
Raditz knew what Trunks was hesitating about and patted him on the shoulder. "Your opponent has considerable strength, but if you control your power well, he won't get hurt."
Chronoa froze. What the hell? He doesn't want to fight because he's afraid of hurting Xeno Patrolman?
Moreover, Raditz had smiled while mentioning controlling strength, as if he might accidentally kill Xeno Patrolman otherwise. What was this boy's background...
Standing on the stone path in front of the scroll library, Xeno Patrolman's hand holding his sword trembled uncontrollably, his brows furrowed, feeling that he was being underestimated again. Raditz had demonstrated his strength before, so he would be convinced if Raditz said such things. But this boy beside him, at such a young age, receiving such an evaluation made his heart race with indignation.
"Very well," Xeno Patrolman stepped forward and looked at this boy. "Trunks, please enlighten me."
His eyes pierced with fighting spirit, and the surrounding atmosphere became heavy.
Chronoa also understood what Xeno Patrolman meant and nodded. "Let's begin then. The outcome of your battle will be decided in one bout. As long as one side concedes or loses combat ability, the result is determined." Finally, she looked at Raditz and added, "Don't endanger each other's lives."
"Go ahead, control your strength," Raditz reminded as well.
Trunks replied, "Understood."
Both voices were heard by Xeno Patrolman and he couldn't help the veins bulging on his forehead as he gritted his teeth and took his stance.
"Come on!"
Suddenly, Xeno Patrolman's drew his sword powerfully. The blade flashed from its sheath as his wrist turned, and cold light gleamed. Raditz pulled the Supreme Kai of Time back as she gasped "Whoa."
This sword strike was truly fast—the speed of the draw was dazzling, and many sword lights had pierced through in just a brief moment.
Trunks's sword remained on his back, his right hand holding the hilt, his breathing steady.
Light and shadow flashed before him, and the sword tip had already reached his eyes!
"Clang clang clang clang—" Trunks didn't draw his sword but blocked Xeno Patrolman's sword strikes with his fingers. Three years ago, Kakarot had blocked his sword slash exactly like this. Using ki as a weapon was enough to stop a sharp blade!
The only difference was that Trunks hadn't transformed into a Super Saiyan—he was doing this in his normal state.
Brilliant aura surrounded him, his fingers covered by spheres of ki that collided with the sword edge, producing metallic collision sounds.
Xeno Patrolman's face changed dramatically. He had thought Trunks would fight him with a sword, and then he would win with exquisite swordsmanship. He hadn't expected Trunks wouldn't even draw his sword! Fighting with fingers instead of steel!
Simply incredible.
Chronoa, the Supreme Kai of Time, stared in shock, never having thought of such a technique—her eyes nearly popped out.
Clang clang clang clang~ Fierce collisions continued as Xeno Patrolman even changed his position, circling around Trunks and attacking from various angles. But Trunks didn't even move his feet, using only one finger to block all attacks.
"Hah!" Unwilling to concede, Xeno Patrolman charged forward, dragging his blade behind him. Gripping the hilt with both hands, he swung in a perfect arc, round like a bright moon and brilliant in its radiance.
Trunks still fought with one finger, but with tremendous force. Bright light burst from his fingertip, extending more than a meter and resembling a sharp blade.
The two rays of light crossed, and the moonlight was severed!
Trunks's aura was so powerful it cut through the moonlight-like arc, slicing through everything like paper.
This time there was no sound of collision, only the dissolution of light and shadow. With a "clang," half of Xeno Patrolman's sword fell to the ground, and several strands of his short blond hair were cut, floating past his ear.
"Gulp," his throat moved as sweat dripped from Xeno Patrolman's chin. "I concede."
He was frightened by Trunks's strength. Just now, if Trunks had used slightly more force, he could have cut his throat. Being able to wield such tremendous power while controlling it so precisely could only be done if one's strength far exceeded his level!
Xeno patrolman believed Raditz's words—if he hadn't controlled his power, Xeno patrolman would have died.
"Supreme Kai of Time, it's time to announce the result," Raditz smiled and reminded Chronoa, who was already dumbfounded.
Coming back to her senses, Chronoa blinked blankly. "Oh... well, Mr. Trunks won. In that case, having passed the assessment, you can now be considered a member of the Time Patrol."
"Of course, this is just a probationary period. There will be mission tests later to evaluate your character and execution ability," Chronoa added.
"No problem!"
Trunks was already overjoyed to receive preliminary approval and shouted with excitement.
Xeno patrolman smiled. "You're very strong. I hope we can cooperate well in the future, and also..." He looked a bit embarrassed. "Please teach me how to train if you get the chance."
Trunks extended his hand, and the two grasped each other's hands, smiling at one another.
