It had been weeks, but the guilt still crushed me. I couldn't sleep without seeing my mate's face, and the pain I put her through. I had carried her like trash and dropped her in the middle of the pack square while she was still asleep, letting everyone see her lying there naked like she was nothing. They didn't hesitate. They mocked her, insulted her, and beat her right there in front of me.
And I just stood there. Watching.
I didn't stop them. I didn't defend her. I made it worse when I told them lies.
