Marie's POV
I was in between worlds as I slept, and everything seemed hazy. I was hearing voices and footsteps and wondered where in the world I was. My body had been tired, spent after what Mancini did at the bunker the day before.
He sent a maid as he said, but that was after long hours of sitting on the cold floor, shivering with my dress barely covering my body.
I got into the shower as I always did and tried to wash it all away, but washing it didn't always work.
And that's how I fell into a deep sleep. I dreamt of freedom. I dreamt of my happy home with Dante telling me how much he wants his privacy and Dad talking endlessly about his businesses. I didn't feel like waking up. It felt so real.
That was the home I missed. That was the home I needed to protect.
But as I stirred awake, I heard a lot of voices in the room.
