Chapter 136 - Celadon’s Shadow Games

If Green had been here, she probably could've solved this problem in no time. But Logan wasn't familiar with such technical matters. Fortunately, the signal wavelengths had all been recorded; all he needed now was to find a professional who could input the codes into the right machine.

"I'd better hurry to Celadon City…"

Logan muttered to himself as he closed the document. Discovering such a mysterious Pokémon meant only one thing—he had to act fast. If someone else caught that Eevee before him, he'd have nowhere to cry.

Logan was a man of action. Once he made a decision, he wasted no time. He immediately began packing his things.

"You're leaving already?"

Blue, who had been quietly resting nearby, lifted his head and looked at him.

"Something urgent came up. I'll head to Celadon first. You stay here in Lavender Town and recover. We'll meet again at the Indigo League."

"Then we'll meet again at the League," Blue replied, waving his hand lazily. He was never a talkative person, nor one who liked trouble.

After packing the essentials, Logan bid Blue farewell and quickly left the inn. His footsteps carried him in haste toward the road that led to Celadon City. Along the way, several townsfolk recognized him and greeted him warmly; Logan smiled back politely. But when he passed by the house where Agatha had once invited him to stay, his feet froze.

"…Huh?"

Logan blinked in disbelief. Standing before him was not the same aged little house he had stayed in only two days ago, but instead a dilapidated villa, abandoned for years, weeds growing wild all around it.

"Excuse me, sir, may I ask… when was this house abandoned?"

Logan hurried to stop an elderly man who happened to be passing by.

The old man glanced at Logan, then at the ruined villa, and said, "This place has been deserted for many years. For various reasons, it was never torn down. Can't remember exactly how long it's been. But now the children play here, and they call it 'The Haunted House.'"

The old man shook his head, clearly displeased. Lavender Town was already a place steeped in gloom and superstition, and giving a house such a name only made things worse.

A chill crawled down Logan's spine. Just two days ago, he and Sabrina had stayed here. The house back then had been old, yes, but warmly furnished. Both he and Sabrina had felt there was something strange about it, though they couldn't put their finger on what. Now, looking at this ruined husk, he realized—this could very well be Agatha's "ghost house."

Memories made his stomach churn. He had even cooked meals inside this house. What if… like in those horror movies, the food hadn't been real food at all, but something far more disgusting? The thought made him sick.

He shook his head hard, forcing the idea away. Agatha might be eccentric, but she was still human—surely not some twisted monster.

Turning away quickly from the unsettling villa, Logan summoned his Gabite and urged it to Run at full speed toward Celadon City.

Celadon City—second only to Saffron in scale—was the beating heart of the Kanto region. It was a true international metropolis, filled with towering skyscrapers and bustling crowds. To Logan, it was almost nostalgic. Before he came to this world, he had lived in a massive city, and Celadon's rhythm of life mirrored what he remembered.

The city was split into two districts: the North, with its older residential buildings, and the booming South, a paradise of commerce where luxury brands from around the globe set up shop. Travelers, tourists, and trainers from every corner of the world crowded its neon-lit streets.

Celadon was famous for two industries—gambling and perfume. One drew in endless gamblers, while the other enchanted women from all over the world. With such irresistible attractions, Celadon's economy was destined to thrive.

Upon arriving, Logan didn't head to the Pokémon Center. Instead, he immediately sought out a reclusive tech genius. It didn't take long to find one, and in less than half an hour, the man had successfully input the wavelength codes from Logan's files into a tracking device.

Walking out of the shabby office building, Logan could barely contain his excitement. The device was a palm-sized gadget, created solely to track Eevee.

"…What?"

As the screen lit up, Logan froze. The signal… it was still inside Celadon City!

This stunned him. The research facility that had experimented on Eevee had already been destroyed. He had assumed the Pokémon would have fled far away. But instead, it had never left the city limits.

"Lucky… I thought I'd have to scour all of Kanto. Didn't expect it to be right here. Saves me a whole lot of time."

A grin spread across Logan's face. Without wasting a second, he set off in the direction of the signal.

Meanwhile, inside an archery dojo, a man dressed like a servant knelt on the tatami floor. He spoke respectfully to a girl practicing with a longbow.

"That boy has gone after Eevee, my lady. But how could he possibly know where it is?"

The girl pulled back her bowstring with calm grace. Her snow-white arms flexed with delicate strength. After a breath of steady aim, she released—the arrow sliced through the air and embedded itself directly in the bullseye.

"He must have obtained the wavelength code from Eevee's transmitter."

Her voice was soft but carried weight. With ritual-like precision, she set the bow back in its stand. Her small, sock-clad feet padded gently across the polished wooden floor, every movement dignified and measured.

"Wavelength code? If we hadn't raided Team Rocket's research lab, even we wouldn't have discovered such a thing. How could he possibly know?"

The kneeling man's voice was thick with doubt.

"There are reports that not long ago, that boy and Sabrina appeared together in Lavender Town. They even fought atop the 'Tower of Prayer.' Most likely, he obtained the information about Eevee from her."

The girl pursed her lips, her calm confidence unshaken. Every word from her mouth was like water flowing steadily from a spring.

"…Don't tell me the rumors are true—that he has some kind of relationship with Sabrina? If we hadn't uncovered so much information at the Rocket lab, we'd never have learned that the Saffron Gym Leader was secretly a Rocket executive. If he and Sabrina are connected, we cannot let him find Eevee!"

The kneeling man's face paled as he spoke.

"That remains to be seen. But if Misty trusts him, I am inclined to believe in her judgment… Still, I'll go myself. I want to see with my own eyes what kind of person this boy truly is."

Her brows drew together slightly as she came to her decision.
