Chapter 2 - Family Matters

As the sun sets, the day ends, and I glare into the now-visible stars, the beautiful moon, staring right at me, the darkness that engulfs the vast sky, the most relaxing time of the day.

It's all peace, no one screaming or gossiping, It is the time of the day when the town isn't lively.

As I get lost in Nature's beauty, I somehow resonate with the dark. It's comforting as if It made me feel safe, as if... I had a connection. I'm not entirely sure.

Still thinking about what I had done, sitting in the dark, with my arms placed on my legs, my right hand soothing my chin.

'Did I do right?, yes I did, it was to survive' I reassured myself, I believed that it was necessary, I mean..., it wasn't right for the bakery..., if it wasn't for the encounter with the blond-haired girl, I would've returned empty-handed, maybe even with some bruises...

I let out a deep sigh, 'okay, I'm heading back home'

As I stood up, I looked at the dark eerie alleys, I thought to myself 'I guess a nice, calm walk to my "home" would be amazing'

While slightly nodding my head

As I was on my way home, I took a turn, then suddenly... I heard footsteps and breathing, but... not humans?... I suddenly froze, my first instinct was to slowly but steadily step back.

The footsteps kept getting louder; I didn't know what to do, my eyes fixed on the dark alley's corner, imagining the worst situation possible, a monster... had breached the walls? Am I really... going to die? My feet trembled, my pupils dilated, and my body went into a fight-or-flight state,

Suddenly another set of footsteps was heard, followed by a voice

'MILOOO, get back here. It's time for a shower,' sounding friendly and caring manner.

Before I could even react, a savage beast launched at me; in a split second, I remembered my best memories; well, there weren't many, as I accepted my fate...

A small dog had jumped on my chest, sticking its claws into it, for I had not braced it; the seemingly small but powerful dog knocked me down, and I hit the floor with my back *crack* the bones in my back had been cracked.

As I moan in pain 'Agh'

'Milo' kept being recalled, suddenly a young man had appeared behind the dog,

As he saw me knocked out on the floor, and his dog wagging his tail while licking my face,

I opened my eyes; it was a tan man with dark brown hair that resembled the earth's soil; his eyes under the street light seemed as if it was raw honey.

As we both look at each other with uncertainty.

He quickly approached me. 'Are you ok-? Your eyes...'

He said in a toned curious voice

I felt embarrassed; I felt as if I was being judged; about to defend myself,

the Man responded, 'THEY ARE SO COOL!' With his eyes glistening like the stars in the darkest place in space.

He suddenly realized he was being rude and had not introduced himself,

'Hey, my name is Alan; sorry for not introducing myself earlier. What is your name?' in a cheerful manner

'M- My name... is Ezio, ' I said, stuttering, my awkwardness filling the room, as I am not used to people talking to me.

Alan had responded 'Wow that is such a cool name, they're as cool as your eyes!, I can't stop admiring them, I have never seen or heard of it'

He said with a light-toned voice

Feeling flattered but weird, I had never received compliments; no one had dared to acknowledge me, It was the first time in my 16 Years of life that I ever heard someone talk great about me.

'T-Thanks, it's the first time someone has said that,' I responded awkwardly while stuttering.

'Really? That's odd, what you have is something amazing and unique Alan exclaimed in a confused manner

After a bit, Alan looked at my attire, he had seen my condition, 'and he murmured 'I see'

'DO you want to come to my place, my family is making dinner, I can give you a pair of clothes that fit a bit too big on me' Saying in a friendly and assuring tone

I didn't know what to say; I had never had this happen to me before; as I looked, contemplating and worried, Alan reassured me it was fine; his parents would love for him to stay the night.

After giving it another thought. I agreed we walked to his home, it wasn't very far,

As Alan knocked 'MOM it's me, I brought a guest'

As she opens the door, a fruity smell eradicates the room, attacking my nose, such an amazing smell, I slightly curled my lips, closing my eyes, taking a deep, refreshing breath.

'Oh Welcome kid, please, come in'

Alan's mother, as she opened the door, a lady with pale skin and brown hair and beautiful honey eyes.

redacted in a humble manner

I took a step inside, "no smell of alcohol it smells amazing", I murmured

'Oh sorry for not introducing myself, my name is Freya, nice to meet you-, wow your eyes are stunning' said in a soft-gentle voice

Had exclaimed in amusement

'I know right? I told him the same thing, and he says it's the first time.' Alan exclaimed in a

Intrigued manner.

'That can't be true' Freya, Alex's mom exclaimed

Feeling flattered, I did not know what to say.

As silence engulfed the room, Alex's Father entered the living room, a tall Tan and robust complex figure with dark hair resembling dark obsidian, Speaking in a loud and clear voice.

'I didn't know we had guests! Nice to meet you-, Wow, your eyes..., they're... SO COOL!

Exclaimed with a surprised tone, eyes shining bright.

Feeling overwhelmed I said 'T-thanks' in a shaky voice.

'A shy boy, I see, no need to be afraid. You can be at peace, the names Bob nice to meet you as he reached out for a handshake

I didn't shake his hands, not because I was being rude, but because... my hands were dirty; how could I get him dirty?

Bob, seeing this, grabbed my hand and, with his other, grabbed my shoulder.

'I don't mind getting a little bit dirty' reassuring

'T-Thanks for being so kind' I said with a low tone and embarrassed

'Hmm I see' says Bob,

As Freya interrupts us

'I will go prepare you a bath give me a second, Alan get him a pair of new clothes'

Said Freya, as Alan nodded h; after,

I was alone with Bob; after a moment of silence, Bob asked, 'Do you have a home?... or any relatives?' In a careful understanding voice

'Well.. my father-..,' as I bit my tongue 'No I do not, my only family passed away as I was born' I said with a saddened voice

Bob reassured me and told me how sorry he was to hear that, in a calm relaxing voice

'It's fine, why would I burden myself on something I never had' I said in a calm manner

As Freya entered the room, letting me know the bath was ready, I nodded.

'I didn't catch your name' said Bob in an intriguing tone

'My name is Ezio' I said in a respectful tone

Bob nodded back and signaled me the way to the bathroom

As I enter looking at myself in the mirror, my dirty robe looked like rags that were poorly stitched together,

My slim slender body,

My jet black wavy hair that's to the length of my neck, my face covered in mud,

And.. my eyes, I forgot my eyes looked this way... brown like pure copper, and the mix of Grey, a grey that resembles the shining moon

My eyes are two different colors, I told myself. Is this why people see me as a freak? Maybe it's my presentation? Or is it because people think a peasant like me deserves it? I'm not sure. Feeling dismayed

As I prepare to take a bath, I think, and I think, what am I doing with my life? While the water pressure sends a relieving feeling to my skull, at utmost peace, and tranquility breathing deeply,

'I haven't had a shower as good as this in a long time'

As I close my eyes,

'Where am I?'

Feeling a intense presure in my abdomen,

I find myself at the edge of a steep cliff.

Looking down into a calm ocean, the water was still, the winds gushing, and the phenomenal smell when rain is about to pour.

A place so dark, yet relaxing, I see a burst of particles... beautiful like an aurora.

Is this mana?...

I feel it rushing through my body.
