Chapter 3 - Awakening call

As I admire the simple yet amazing scenery, the calm dark blue ocean, the bright Grey moon that reflects its stunning light rays off the calm dark ocean water,

the pitch-black sky with hundreds, if not thousands, of bright stars.

Hearing the roars of lightning echo through the seemingly never-ending vast ocean, the aroma that forces itself into my nostril, the smell that a storm is coming.

A sight to behold, it may not be the most colorful but it's certainly amusing.

the calm but chilly winds blowing my back my hair, I took a deep breath, 'What is this place?' I questioned myself; this place seemed familiar... as if it was a part of me.

I felt as if a strange power ran through my body, starting from my abdomen and spreading out, I felt more energized.

The immense pressure dissipated from my abdomen; I felt relieved as if I had gotten the heavens lifted off me.

Gasping for air *gasp* taking deep breaths.

Thinking to myself, 'What was that sudden pressure? It felt as if a boulder was set on me.' With a tired face, I felt exhausted, but not physically.... but mentally. As if this is in my mind,

In a split second, all the stars in the sky started to vibrate, each second getting faster and faster and faster, merging into one.

Then the whole place went white as the lights engulfed the ocean and pitch black sky.

*knock knock knock*

As I hear Alan knocking on the bathroom door gently, 'Hey, are you okay? You have been in there for quite some time...' Alan said preoccupied

'OH, have I? I'm truly sorry, I was... just lost for a moment,' I said, confused as I was detached at that moment ...

detached from the world for a minute... well a couple

'Don't sweat it, Ezio, I was just checking up on you; I left your clothes and a towel in front of the door; my mother is making pork chops, so hurry up. You don't want it to be cold; I promise' Alan answers with a friendly-charismatic tone.

, 'Thanks a lot because of you I feel a part of something, I'm sorry if I'm being a nuisance

I exclaimed with a low-pitched tone while fidgeting with my fingers

'I told you NOT to worry about it, I don't know what you've been through, but with us, you are safe so don't even start spouting that nonsense again' Alan said in a reassuring yet heavy demeanor

'Okay, okay, I'm sorry, I'll be out in a second,' I exclaimed, letting out a small laugh; Alan agreed and left to set the dinner table.

Getting out of the shower, I looked into the mirror, revealing my pale, soft skin, which was not seen due to the mud, and my straight-wavy hair falling to my shoulders; at last, I seemed like a decent person, with proper clothing made out of leather instead of rags. Now my bare feet won't scrape against the hot concrete as I navigate thru

the city,

After contemplating and looking at myself for a minute, I decided to go to the kitchen, there it was, a smell that would even attract wild beasts, a rich meaty aroma with a scent of spices, as I smelt it I started drooling,

'Wow, kiddo, you look different, like a completely new person; if I had seen you on the streets, I wouldn't have recognized you... if it weren't for those badass eyes!' Exclaimed Bob in a joking manner

'Just a handsome little boy, now come sit darling the food will be cold, I can assure you WILL want seconds' says Freya as she lets out a loud laugh

We all started eating, every bite was amazing, it was juicy, tender, and full of flavor

'Hey, Alan,' exclaimed Bob, 'Have you gotten your Academy invitation?' Bob asks.

'Yeah, I have. Ever since I went and took my affinity checked, I received it,' Alan told his father.

'What about you, Ezio? Have you gotten your affinity checked at the academy?' Freya asked Ezio

I shook my head 'No I didn't know you could, I can't pay the entrance fee either way' in an ashamed manner

'Well, that's unfortunate. Do you possess any magic?'

Freya asks

'Well, I'm not sure...'I answered in a disappointed manner, feeling overwhelmed

'Have you not had any dreams?' Alan asked.

Explaining how he has an Earth affinity; his dreams were in grand mountains with an open green field.

'I had a similar experience' I told Alan,

Explaining to Alan what had happened in the shower, as I dazed out, detaching from the world, I was in a calm dark ocean with a beautiful pitch black sky, with hundreds of bright shinning stars and a bright Grey moon with rays of light reflecting off the dark ocean water.

I was all alone, with no life to be seen; it worried him.

'That seems odd. Maybe you have a rare mutation, but I can't think of anything besides... darkness... which would be almost impossible,' Freya said in a curious tone.

'I wonder who your family truly is' Says Freya in a Intrigued tone.

'Well it's all for tonight' Says Bob

Freya looked back at me, 'You are more than welcome to stay if you want, I mean it's exclaiming showing honesty and reassurance

'I have to get back home, but thanks a lot, I deeply appreciate what you guys have done for me, a stranger.' I said with a modest tone

Freya and Bob look at each other, nodding very slightly, 'You can come over whenever you like, just know that' they said

'Yeah, of course, it was a blast having you here!' Alan had told me with a joyful look

I thank them all and leave for my house; unlike Alan's house, mine was on the other side of the kingdom, the slopes; I live with my father, well, if you can even call him that.

As I was arriving, I heard a man mumbling to himself, with one bottle of alcohol in each hand.

Yeah, it was my father, as I mustered up the courage to confront my father, my head spun, my chest tightened, and so on I went

'WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN! *Hiccup*'screaming to the top of his lungs, moving the bottles towards me.

The neighbors looked out their windows to see what the commotion was about.

But seeing my father, they went back in, it's normal, He always does these rants

'I- I was outside Father' I was scared, trembling in fear

'HUHH, WHERE DID YOU GET THOSE CLOTHES BOY!?,WEREN'T THE ONES I BOUGHT YOU GOOD ENOUGH?*Hiccup*

UNGRATEFUL KID' As he screamed at the top of his lungs, I could smell his alcoholic breath from 3 feet away.

I ignored him, I went into my house, and I laid down on the concrete I had as a bed and an old dirty rag as a cover.

I cried myself to sleep; I felt helpless as if I would never get out of this.

My father wasn't always like this, well that's what people had said.

He was a low-ranking soldier with an affinity in fire, making enough money to live comfortably, he had met my mom, Alvi a beautiful young woman, who had an affinity for wind magic, said to be the prettiest in the entire kingdom, they loved eachother,

They used to be sweethearts, everything was going just perfect, until three months into her pregnancy

She became ill ...
