The Chongqing Bird's voice chimed in at just the right moment.
"The cultivation methods of these people are different from yours. For them, as long as they follow their basic nature, slaughter can also allow them to rapidly increase their cultivation."
These heretical cultivation methods were indeed more efficient than those of normal cultivators, but they also came with significant drawbacks. A true cultivator must impose all sorts of rules and restrictions upon themselves to grow stronger. But the practitioners of these heretical arts never restrain themselves. The end result is that they become warped, violent, and irredeemably evil demons. In exchange for great power, they also abandon their reason and are very likely to meet their downfall in the future due to their own internal flaws.
Lin Yun's own cultivation speed was already fast enough; there was no need for him to waste his thoughts on such paths.
Hearing the Chongqing Bird's answer, Lin Yun just gave a wry smile. He hadn't really been thinking along those lines at all, but he hadn't expected the bird to offer up an explanation.
"Brother, look, we've told you everything, one five and one ten," one of the Crimson Ghost Sect disciples pleaded, kneeling on the ground and looking at Lin Yun with trembling eyes. "I don't know if you could find it in your heart to be merciful and let us go."
To this, Lin Yun did not refuse. "I told you, there are many benefits to cooperating." He glanced at Zhou Damao behind him.
These disciples of the Crimson Ghost Sect had committed endless evil, their hands stained with the blood of countless people. Lin Yun knew they were incorrigible. If he didn't deal with them this time, they would only cause greater trouble later. He had indeed promised to forgive them, but that promise only represented himself.
The few Crimson Ghost Sect disciples thought they were about to escape with their lives, little knowing that what awaited them was a living hell. After a short while, Lin Yun heard a series of miserable screams from behind him. It was clear those men would not be meeting a good end.
After all this was done, Lin Yun finally let out a long sigh. "It's just as I thought before. This situation is far more complicated than we can handle alone."
Lin Yun looked at Fang Yu'er and Zhou Damao. Once upon a time, they had all believed that even if they didn't have much chance of winning against the Crimson Ghost Sect, they could still find a way to solve the problem in this desperate situation. But after experiencing so much, they now understood that some problems were not as simple as they had first imagined.
"Regardless, things have already come to this. We can't just turn a blind eye," Zhou Damao said.
Knowing the road ahead was perilous, at this moment, everyone had made their choice. Perhaps their enemy was even more terrifying than they had imagined. But for the current Lin Yun, there was still a way to solve everything. As long as he could continue to see his opponents' panels, no matter how powerful the enemy, he could always unravel the threads and find the best way to deal with them.
"Actually, you could choose to keep these people with you," Fang Yu'er said, glancing at the captured disciples. "After all, they could serve as cannon fodder for us."
Zhou Damao was taken aback. "You're a disciple of the Crimson Ghost Sect, are you not? I didn't expect you to be even more ruthless to your own people."
Fang Yu'er's face turned grim. "I may be a disciple of the Crimson Ghost Sect, but I have suffered no small amount of humiliation within the sect. My hatred for them is far greater than you can imagine."
Seeing that Zhou Damao was about to speak again, Lin Yun quickly stopped him. If they kept talking like this, who knew what would be said next. But Fang Yu'er was not joking this time. Though she was a disciple, she was met with discrimination at every turn. If not for her special techniques, she probably wouldn't have survived to this day.
After dealing with the captured disciples, the group continued forward. Because of his panel, Lin Yun quickly figured out what the invisible monsters from before were. It seemed there were many mutated creatures within this tomb, creatures that possessed immense power. Ordinary people were no match for them. Even Lin Yun was not completely confident when facing them.
As they went deeper, more and more corpses appeared on the ground, most of them belonging to Crimson Ghost Sect disciples. All of them had died tragically. And beside these corpses were a number of strange creatures.
These beings were different from the monsters they had seen before. Their entire bodies were pale white, covered in unknown patterns. More importantly, their eyes were like brilliant blue sapphires, completely without pupils. They were also clad in scale armor made from some unknown material.
The combat power of these creatures was clearly not weak; they had been able to easily overcome the disciples of the Crimson Ghost Sect.
Zhou Damao crouched down to examine one. "These things look strange. I've never seen anything like them on the Hidden Dragon Continent." Zhou Damao was considered well-traveled and knowledgeable. He had seen many powerful beings during his journeys down the mountain, but he had never heard of the creatures before them now.
Lin Yun shook his head. For some reason, although he had never seen these bizarrely shaped creatures before, he felt a strange sense of familiarity with them. Could I have seen these things somewhere before? The thought flashed through his mind, but no matter how he tried, he couldn't seem to uncover the secret.
The three of them were pondering what these creatures could be when a series of miserable screams echoed from up ahead, followed by the clash of weapons.
Zhou Damao's expression hardened. "Someone is fighting up ahead!"
Looking at the wounds on the corpses, it seemed they had indeed died not long ago. Their current position should be the outer layer of the tomb. Logically, everything here should have been safe. For them to encounter these unexpected attacks now naturally proved that this place held secrets they did not know. And everything they were seeing now was perfect proof of that.
Feeling the fierce battle ahead, the group didn't dare to delay and immediately rushed forward.
Lin Yun also grew tense. Originally, they only had to face the Crimson Ghost Sect. But now, these strange creatures had suddenly appeared. Vaguely, he seemed to realize that he was about to be drawn into a massive conflict.
"Chongqing Bird," he asked silently, "you must have seen these creatures before, right?"
Even his panel had no records of these strange beings. Lin Yun could only place his hope in the Chongqing Bird.
But it was a pity. The Chongqing Bird quickly denied it.
