Chapter 190 - Chapter 190: Mewtwo's True Power Unleashed

The massive Psystrike sphere above Mewtwo pulsed with terrifying psychic energy, ready to obliterate everything in its path. Red's five remaining Pokémon gathered for their final coordinated assault, each one pushing beyond their limits.

"Now!" Red commanded.

Mega Charizard X unleashed its most powerful Dragon Rush, transforming into a massive energy dragon wreathed in blue flames. Mega Beedrill fired a barrage of Poison Jabs, its needles glowing with toxic energy. Steelix roared and launched a devastating Iron Tail attack, its massive metallic body gleaming. Pidgeot, despite its injuries, summoned a Hurricane that whipped debris around the battlefield. Scizor used its remaining strength for one final Bullet Punch, moving faster than the eye could follow.

The five attacks converged on Mewtwo simultaneously from different angles, creating a spectacular display of power and coordination.

But Mewtwo remained calm in the face of this overwhelming assault.

"Futile," it said simply.

With a gesture, the Psystrike sphere expanded and shot downward, colliding with all five attacks at once. The resulting explosion was deafening, sending shockwaves throughout Viridian Gym. When the smoke cleared, Red's five Pokémon lay scattered across the battlefield, all of them unconscious.

Red stood alone, facing the unharmed Mewtwo.

"Your Pokémon fought admirably," Mewtwo said, slowly descending to hover just above the ground. "But as I said, no matter how many you bring, none can match my power. I am the ultimate Pokémon."

Red clenched his fists, his Battle Intent Realm still radiating from his body despite the overwhelming defeat. His eyes remained crimson red, burning with determination.

"Ultimate Pokémon?" Red said quietly. "Maybe in terms of raw power. But you're missing something crucial, Mewtwo."

"And what might that be?" Mewtwo asked, genuinely curious.

"Purpose. Heart. The connections that make us stronger than the sum of our parts."

Red began walking forward, his psychic powers creating a faint blue aura around him as he approached the legendary Pokémon.

"You were created to be the strongest, but strength without meaning is just destruction. My Pokémon didn't fight just because I commanded them. They fought because they believed in something greater than themselves."

Mewtwo's expression flickered, a hint of uncertainty crossing its features.

"Bonds make you weak. They are chains that bind you to inferior beings."

"No," Red replied firmly, continuing his approach. "Bonds make you complete. Without them, you're just a weapon. Powerful, but hollow."

Red stopped just a few feet from Mewtwo, showing no fear despite the vast difference in their power.

"I can sense it, Mewtwo. The emptiness inside you. The questions about your existence, your purpose. You think power alone will fill that void, but it won't. I've felt that same emptiness."

For the first time, Mewtwo's confident demeanor wavered. The psychic energy around it fluctuated as emotions it didn't understand began to surface.

"What... what are you talking about?"

"You're not just a copy of Mew, Mewtwo. You're your own being, with your own potential. But you'll never realize it by trying to prove your superiority through destruction."

Red extended his hand toward Mewtwo, his Viridian Power beginning to emanate a gentle green glow.

"Let me show you what you're really capable of when you're not consumed by rage and hatred."

Mewtwo stared at Red's outstretched hand, its psychic energy churning with confusion and something else. A longing it couldn't name.

"I... I don't understand," Mewtwo said, its voice losing some of its earlier coldness.

From the shadows, Giovanni watched this exchange with intense interest. This wasn't going according to any plan he had envisioned.

"Red from Pallet Town," Giovanni murmured. "You continue to surprise me."

The moment hung in the air, filled with possibility. Mewtwo's next choice would determine not just the outcome of this confrontation, but perhaps the entire trajectory of its existence.

Red waited patiently, his hand still extended, his expression calm and understanding. In his eyes, Mewtwo could see not fear or judgment, but something it had never encountered before. Genuine compassion.

The question remained: would Mewtwo accept this offer of connection, or would its conditioning and anger prove too strong to overcome?

The tension in the air was palpable as Mewtwo stared at Red's extended hand. For long moments, neither moved, the only sound being the settling debris from their intense battle.

Slowly, hesitantly, Mewtwo reached out with its own hand but stopped just short of touching Red's.

"I... I was created to be superior. To prove that artificial life could surpass natural life. How can you ask me to abandon the very purpose of my existence?"

Red's expression remained gentle and understanding. "I'm not asking you to abandon your purpose, Mewtwo. I'm asking you to redefine it. True superiority isn't about dominating others. It's about lifting them up alongside you."

Mewtwo's psychic aura fluctuated wildly as conflicting emotions raged within it. The laboratory programming that had shaped its early existence warred against the new perspectives Red was offering.

"But if I am not the strongest... if I am not superior... then what am I?"

"You're Mewtwo," Red said simply. "Not a copy, not a weapon, not a tool for someone else's ambitions. You're a unique being with unlimited potential to choose your own path."

From his hidden position, Giovanni's eyes narrowed. This conversation was becoming dangerous to his plans. He signaled to his subordinates positioned around the gym, preparing to intervene if necessary.

But before anyone could act, Mewtwo suddenly pulled its hand back, its expression hardening once more.

"No!" Mewtwo declared, psychic energy erupting around it. "This is a trick! Another attempt to control me, to make me weak!"

The force of Mewtwo's emotional outburst sent Red sliding backward, but he maintained his footing and his calm demeanor.

"I won't be manipulated again!" Mewtwo continued, rising higher into the air. "I am Mewtwo! I am power incarnate! And I will prove it by destroying everything you hold dear!"

Mewtwo's eyes began to glow with an ominous light as it prepared to unleash its most devastating attack. The psychic pressure in the room became almost unbearable.

But Red didn't retreat. Instead, he took another step forward.

"Then you'll have to destroy me first," Red said calmly. "Because I won't let you hurt innocent people just to ease your own pain."

This declaration gave Mewtwo pause. It had expected fear, pleading, or attempts to escape. But Red's willingness to stand his ground, even in the face of certain destruction, was something it hadn't anticipated.

"You would die for these strangers? For people who don't even know you exist?"

"I'd die for anyone who needed protecting," Red replied without hesitation. "That's what it means to be connected to something larger than yourself. That's what you're missing, Mewtwo."

The psychic energy around Mewtwo wavered again, uncertainty creeping back into its features.

"I... I don't understand you, Red of Pallet Town. You show no fear, even when facing certain death. Why?"

Red smiled sadly. "Because I've learned that some things are worth more than my own life. The bonds I share with my Pokémon, with my friends, and with people I've never met but still care about. Those connections give my existence meaning."

"And you think I could have such... connections?"

"I know you could. The very fact that you're questioning, that you're struggling with these concepts. That proves you have the capacity for more than just destruction."

Mewtwo slowly descended until it was hovering at Red's eye level, studying him intently.

"If I were to... try... to understand these connections you speak of... what would that mean?"

Red's smile became more genuine. "It would mean taking the first step toward becoming the being you were truly meant to be. Not a weapon, not a tool, but a protector."
