Veyr
It had been hours since Ryn blacked out before him, and he still hadn't woken up. Veyr had seen something similar happen before, but never like this.
Bonding with dragons usually takes a few minutes; it is simple, instinctive, and natural. But this time was different.
This ceremony was the actual connection between a rune bearer and a dragon. It wasn't something ordinary, which terrified him more than he wanted to admit.
He sat by Ryn's side, watching his face. The boy looked calm, too calm, as if he had fallen into a dream too deep to return from.
Veyr's mind wouldn't rest. What is happening in there? He wondered. What is he seeing?
He had paced back and forth so many times that the ground beneath him was beginning to wear thin. He checked on the students repeatedly, his eyes darting to Ryn every few seconds, hoping for even a flicker of movement. But nothing came.
The silence pressed down on him like a heavy weight.
