"That egg!"
When Kevin heard this, he knew he'd been tricked by his goddess sister again: "Why didn't you tell me something so important earlier? Who would have thought this would happen if you hadn't warned me in advance?"
Nangong Wuyue was also startled, and with a flick of her tail, she dropped the large egg to the ground. Kevin exclaimed, "Oh my god!" and pounced on it like Lily had seen a bone. "Thank goodness!" I know many people would have thought it was broken, but this time, it was truly a blessing in disguise.
Perhaps it was the soft sand on the seabed, or perhaps the egg itself was quite sturdy, but it remained completely unbroken after falling from the Siren's Tail. Kevin lifted the egg like a treasure, examining it from head to toe. After confirming everything was intact, he breathed a sigh of relief, "Oh my god, I was so scared! I'm glad it's not broken."
Kevin hadn't noticed Nangong Wuyue playing with the ball earlier, but now, holding it in his arms, he realized it looked like an egg: a brilliant white with a small, pale yellow spot in the middle. It was much larger than a goose egg, roughly oval in shape, but a bit rounder than most. The shell was smooth and seemed slightly warm to the touch. Nangong Wuyue leaned over and touched it curiously, sticking out her tongue in fear. "Luckily, I didn't break it."
"How could it be an egg?" Kevin asked Raven 12345 tearfully. "Why is my tenant an egg?!"
"It hasn't hatched yet," Raven 12345 said matter-of-factly. "Why do you care what it is? Just keep it. I've already assigned three or four people to you. Do you still have racial prejudice?"
"...This isn't about racial prejudice," Kevin said, neither laughing nor crying, holding the egg. "If you assigned me a werewolf or a vampire, I could accept that. At least I understand it. But this is an egg... Forget humanoid form. It doesn't even have a face! How can you be considered a new 'person'?" "It'll hatch, that's all," Raven 12345 said confidently. "It will definitely hatch! And I think you should be happy. Caring for an egg is easier than caring for your husky. Just be careful not to break it. It can hatch on its own, and it doesn't require any particular environment. Oh, and remember to put it in a humid place; the hatched little creatures won't tolerate dryness."
Kevin found it difficult to convey his deep discomfort to his unyielding and broad-minded goddess sister. He bit his lower lip and forced himself to accept the fact that his new tenant was an egg. He exchanged a tearful glance with Nangong Wuyue before asking weakly, "Then could you at least tell me about the origins of this egg?" "Oh. I was just about to tell you that, but we'll discuss it in detail when we meet. I'll be on my way to your place now," Raven 12345's voice sounded cheerful. "I've got a big surprise for you! It's a token of your work and progress lately! Hurry up and take your data terminal to a more open area and wait. I'll be there in an hour."
With that, Raven 12345 brusquely ended the call as usual, leaving Kevin stunned: She's coming?
It took Kevin a second to realize that the psychopath was coming in person. Although he had no idea how she'd found time to come amidst her busy schedule, he sprang into action. He tugged at Nangong Wuyue's tail, expertly wrapping it around his waist. "Let's go, to the sea!"
Nangong Wuyue observed Kevin's deft movements with a strange expression. She stuck out her tongue, grimaced, and uttered a short, sharp syllable. The invisible barrier around them instantly vanished, and a torrent of seawater pressed down from all sides. Amidst a thunderous roar, the siren girl swept Kevin up and sprinted towards the surface like a sharp sword.
The return trip was much faster, and the journey wasn't anything to write home about. After swimming for a while, they saw sunlight filtering through the surface of the water, casting a shadow just ahead. As they neared the surface, Nangong Wuyue released her tail and, controlling the current, pushed Kevin upwards. "Landlord, throw my clothes down after you get up. I'm going to change down there before going back up. Oh, and bring the egg!"
Kevin thought this was the silliest pose of his life: being pushed up from the bottom by a siren, standing tall and proud, with one arm raised overhead like the Statue of Liberty, holding an egg...
Anything other than an egg would do!
This area of the sea had been controlled by Nangong Wuyue. Upon reaching the surface, Kevin discovered a frost path had formed beneath his feet, allowing him to easily walk to the floating ice. Y'zaks was guarding the "clothing puck" while playing cards with himself. Seeing Kevin approach, he immediately greeted him warmly: "Hey, landlord, you're back. Where's the newcomer and the mermaid?"
"Wuyue, change your clothes and come up." Kevin tossed the clothing puck into the sea. A mermaid jumped up and pulled it down, then held the egg out to Y'zaks. "This is the newcomer."
Y'zaks: "...?"
"Yes, this is the newcomer," Kevin said solemnly. "Not only did you get off the track, but you're also early: it hasn't even hatched yet. I finally understand why they're using a cargo hold to transport this."
Y'zaks remained dazed: "...?"
After some explanation, the Great Demon finally believed the egg before him was the newcomer they were here to welcome. He immediately looked embarrassed, "Goddess, you're really... Tsk, tsk, I was just thinking of shaking hands with the newcomer to welcome him."
Kevin handed the egg over: "Here, shake it. Be careful not to crush it."
Yzaks: "..."
A splash of water could be heard from not far behind them. Nangong Wuyue, now in human form and fully dressed, emerged from the sea, dry and crisp, without a single drop of water visible. Seeing Kevin and Y'zaks sitting opposite each other, studying an egg, the siren girl warned the two careless men, "The goddess said she'll be here soon. Where can we find an open area?"
"That beach was quite open earlier. That's where we landed," Kevin thought for a moment, but ultimately looked at the ice island beneath his feet. "Of course, when it comes to flatness, this is the flattest place. May, can you expand the ice island?"
"Sure. A one-kilometer radius will do."
"No, this unit recommends returning to the beach," the data terminal suddenly said. "Based on our experience, Commander Raven's 'big surprises' are usually quite scary. She's specifically asking for an open area. We'd better find a safe place." Upon hearing this, Kevin immediately recalled Raven 12345's usual behavior and quickly nodded in agreement. The three of them (now with an egg) teleported back to the beach where they had originally landed. To ensure a wide, open spot, they even found the widest part of the beach about a kilometer from their landing point. Now it was time to wait for Raven 12345 to arrive.
After all, she's a goddess; the word "arrive" should be used.
After the data terminal set up the guidance signal, with only a few minutes left until Raven 12345's predicted arrival time, the three of them found a high spot on the beach and gazed eagerly at the sky. Kevin felt as if time was passing particularly slowly this time. But just as he was beginning to wonder if that psychopathic woman had stood him up, a curtain of light suddenly appeared in the sky. At that moment, a strange vision unfolded: the sunlight vanished, the sky suddenly filled with stars, and a blue curtain, resembling an aurora, slowly descended from the heavens. A massive space portal opened from within the aurora curtain, and Kevin saw a silvery-white behemoth slowly drifting out of the portal.
It was a spaceship.
It was roughly hexagonal, but not perfectly so. One end was larger than the other, and the overall shape was slightly narrow. Kevin's first impression was that of a Western-style coffin, but fortunately, its various features significantly mitigated this "coffin" feeling. The narrow end of the spaceship had four symmetrically arranged hexagonal structures, while a complex protrusion could be seen at the front, giving it the appearance of a multi-eyed monster floating in the air. Kevin couldn't determine the size of such a massive object with the naked eye, but he estimated it to be larger than any aircraft carrier built by Earthlings. As it slowly descended, it resembled a mountain falling from the sky! The spaceship was enveloped by a vast, translucent blue curtain of light. Raven 12345 appeared above it, her voice reverberating like thunder across the heavens and earth. "How's it going? Your spaceship has arrived! It was just approved today, and this goddess has personally delivered it to you!"
