"No…" Rachel intended to reject him, but the words didn't come out fully.
Even though her impression of Kellan had changed today, it still wasn't enough for her to willingly crawl into his bed.
"Are you sure?" Kellan's cold, low voice echoed, completely devoid of warmth, like he was ready to drag her into some never-ending abyss.
Other people were always eager to flatter him, but she kept rejecting him over and over.
That was a huge slap to Kellan's pride. His black eyes, deep as ink, looked like bottomless pools, ready to suck people in.
Rachel's heart trembled and her breath paused for a second.
She wanted to say, "Let me think about it," but her rational mind told her if she didn't agree now, what came next might be even worse.
Thinking about how he saved them today, and how he said he'd stay away from Cora, Rachel took a deep breath and said, "Just warming the bed, that's all."
