Rachel watched Nora's departing figure in surprise, staring at the phone Nora had returned to her, but she couldn't see any clues.
She walked cautiously toward her car with Cora, and driver Jenkins opened the door as she approached.
Rachel was so preoccupied with Nora's strange behavior that she didn't notice her own jerky steps.
She lifted Cora into the car, and when she tried to get in herself, she pulled a muscle and cried out in pain.
Cora looked at her with concern, her big dark eyes shining. She reached out and grabbed Rachel's arm. "Mommy, what's wrong?"
Jenkins closed the door and went to the driver's seat.
Rachel quickly spoke, raising her eyebrows, "It's nothing, just got bumped by a pig."
"Bumped by a pig?"
Cora widened her eyes in shock. "Where did the pig come from? I'll ask Daddy to slaughter it!"
Cora made a gesture with her hand and then thought about braised pig's trotters, her mouth watering.
