Chapter 4 - Half a Year

The plot hadn't even begun, so Kaido wasn't in a hurry.

And this wait lasted half a year.

Early in the morning, the first rays of sunlight illuminated the city of Milan.

Kaido knocked on the door.

"Someone from the Black Copper Cross came to call you a moment ago; it seems your uncle sent them."

After waiting a long time without a reply, Kaido felt helpless, then opened the unlocked door and entered the girl's boudoir.

A faint fragrance floated in the air.

A blonde girl, wearing a thin t-shirt, with fair skin visible beneath a lace-trimmed set of underwear, lay sprawled on the bed, wrapped in a blanket, sleeping soundly without any feminine grace.

Half a year is neither too long nor too short.

But it was enough for the relationship between two people to transition from strangers to family.

Erica is a Great Knight of the Black Copper Cross. Not only does she attend an aristocratic school, but she also trains in combat techniques and purges sectarian organizations, making her quite busy.

Kaido was occasionally called upon for assistance.

Although the True Longinus is a god-killing team, the Magic Society detected no anomaly.

The witch's book must have played a role in this.

Otherwise, a weapon with the power to kill a god would definitely be coveted by everyone in the world.

Upon hearing Kaido's call, Erica reluctantly opened her sleepy eyes, letting out a soft, alluring moan.

The body revealed beneath the blanket was enough to stir up the hormones of any man.

Although it wasn't the first time he saw Erica exposed, I still found it somewhat stimulating.

Erica was only fifteen years old this year; if she developed for a few more years, what would she become?

"Hmm... Is it uncle's order?"

Erica's uncle was the only living relative of the girl.

His name was Paolo Blandelli, a man in his forties who was the highest-ranking Knight of the Black Copper Cross, and also the highest-ranking Knight in all of Italy and even Western Europe.

After learning about Kaido's background and undergoing various secret tests, he was enthusiastic, allowing him to comfortably stay in Erica's luxurious mansion.

He generally took good care of him.

And for some reason, lately, Erica's uncle had been looking at him strangely.

It was as if... a dream was watching his year.

Erica was somewhat anemic in the morning. Seeing Kaido smile calmly at her, her beautiful face flushed slightly. She grabbed the sheet to cover herself, but her words remained somewhat stubborn.

"Invading a lady's boudoir is not a gentleman's behavior."

I am both a gentleman and a pervert. Alright, if it weren't for this gentleman's reminder, you would have already been late many times.

Kaido joked appropriately and then left the room.

As a physiologically healthy man, it was impossible for him not to have special thoughts about Erica, but if he acted upon them, it would guarantee him a minimum sentence of three years.

Furthermore, Erica had been kind to him; no matter how unscrupulous Kaido was, he would not repay kindness with malice.

About ten minutes later, Erica was dressed and ready to leave.

Seeing Kaido practicing spear arts in the courtyard, her eyes, deep and serious under the sunlight, made the girl stare at him intently for a few more seconds.

I won't be back for the next few days. Take good care of the house on your own.

With that, Erica got into the Black Copper Cross's special car and sped off.

After confirming her departure, Kaido returned to the spacious living room, and the True Longinus in his hand began to emit an unusual glow.

Soft yet profound.

The magical power within the True Longinus surged like a storm, but its surface remained calm, with only subtle ripples of magical power detectable.

This was a weapon that even the seraphim of heaven would fear, one of the sacred relics along with the Holy Cross, the Holy Grail, the Shroud of Turin, and the Holy Nails.

If a religious fanatic were to contemplate this spear, they might even lose all reason in a short time.

For the past six months, Kaido had gained a deeper understanding and mastery of this god-killing equipment.

The Balance Breaker subspecies could also be used for extended periods.

The Holy Celestial King's Ring Spear Wrapped in the Glow That Brings the Polar Night

As Kaido fused his own magical power with that of the True Longinus, the True Longinus would automatically activate the Polar Night Longinus Chakravartin subspecies.

At that time, you would gain seven different abilities.

And the Balance Breaker and even the True Idea beyond that possessed even greater power.

This was an ability Kaido hadn't used in ordinary circumstances, and Erica and the others only regarded this spear as an ordinary magical object.

It was noon. After finishing his meal, Kaido was about to take a nap when, suddenly, he sensed a dark, malicious fluctuation of magical power in the distance.

Because the will of the God of the Bible remained within the True Longinus, Kaido had an instinctive perception of evil things.

Suppressing the nausea, as if he had eaten rotten meat that had been there for a week, Kaido frowned.

As night fell, the unsettling feeling in his heart gradually intensified, and that faint evil aura reappeared from afar.

Kaido closed the door and his figure gradually disappeared into the vast night.

Let's return to the morning.

Erica met her uncle, who had summoned her, at the headquarters of the Black Copper Cross Magic Society.

The handsome middle-aged man standing before her was a respected high-ranking Knight and also the Grand Master of the Black Copper Cross.

"Have you liked any promising young men lately?"

Facing his niece, Paolo set aside his serious facade and became a kind, gossipy uncle.

"If you want me to talk about marriage, I must emphatically decline, Uncle," Erica said with a graceful smile and rather firm words.

"With age, it's inevitable to worry about these matters, but since you put it that way, I won't bring it up again, Erica." Paolo paused. "I called you today for something else."

According to explorer reports, a sect has recently infiltrated Milan and is attempting to perform a ritual to summon the gods of disobedience.

Hearing this news, Erica brightened and immediately said, "It's quite possible. Our Leader Salvatore Doni is currently on an expedition to South Africa. Perhaps someone knows the King is absent and wants to sow chaos in Milan."

The King of Swords is the world's sixth God Slayer and currently the youngest God Slayer, a King reigning supreme.

After Salvatore defeated a Heretic God and became a God Slayer, nearly the entire Magic Society of Southern Europe immediately swore allegiance to him.

And this God Slayer generally acted decisively; or, to put it less politely, he did as he pleased.

Some time ago, hearing the news that a Heretic God appeared in South Africa, he rushed to Africa without delay.

Of course, where there is obedience, there will necessarily be resistance.

Not everyone liked the Godslayer.

Especially in this land where witches and religions proliferated in the Middle Ages.

"The possibility of a Heretic God descending upon Milan is high, so I believe more information is urgently needed."

Erica volunteered.

You are my treasure and the prodigy of society. Although what you say, Erica, is very true, you actually don't have direct experience with a Heretic God.

Paolo spoke tactfully; he didn't want Erica to be in danger.

After all, only a Godslayer can deal with Heretic Gods; no matter how strong mortals are, they are only cannon fodder.

"You are right, but precisely because the Heretic Gods have not yet appeared, isn't it necessary to gain some experience?"

Erica said confidently.

"I won't presumptuously try to kill a god, but the idea of being able to stop it or sell it still exists."

Alright, although I don't know if this is courageous or reckless, it will all become clear when you face a god of disobedience directly. I hope you can return safe and sound.

Paolo nods.

"I will also make the necessary preparations on my part."

"I understand, Uncle, Erica Brandelli won't die so easily."

The mischievous smile that appeared at the corner of her mouth made Paolo laugh too; his niece really didn't give him peace of mind.

Paolo's last meeting with Erica today was at nine o'clock in the morning.

After that, he completely lost contact.

Kaido hurried through the night.

Following the evil and chaotic sensation in his mind, the Black-Haired Youth arrived alone on the outskirts of Milan.

This desolate area, once transformed into a wasteland and a forbidden zone for humans by an unknown God of Heresy, was now devoid of human traces.

Gods described as gentle or benevolent in myths, upon freeing themselves from mythical restrictions and descending into reality, would undoubtedly have personalities very different from their mythical representations.

Even if a Heretic God did nothing after descending, its divine nature would affect the surrounding people and objects.

A Heretic God with a fiery divine nature would turn the surroundings into scorched earth.

A deity overseeing planting and agriculture would cause all things to produce rice spikes, and might even push the local civilization back to the agricultural Stone Age.

In short, the descent of a Heretic God is a disaster for both humanity and nature.

Time returns to the present.

Due to the True Longinus, Kaido was unusually sensitive to evil forces.

However, he had almost circled the desert, and apart from almost being bitten by a snake, he saw nothing and nothing happened.

"This is impossible."

Kaido did not believe that his perception could be wrong.

"Could it be due to a barrier?"

Barriers created with curses have all sorts of strange effects.

Dulling the five senses is the most common.

Thinking of this, Kaido tried a simple technique to break spells, but the effect was not good.

"Let's try the True Longinus."

The True Longinus, which killed Jesus, theoretically possessed the ability to break all laws.

"Buzzing!"

Indeed!

When Kaido gently touched the area where the sensation was strongest with the tip of the spear, ripples appeared, and an arid and desolate mountain range emerged before his eyes in a place that looked like a simple plain.

Less than three meters from Kaido was a deep, dark cave.

"There's definitely something suspicious."

When the barrier was broken, a strong evil aura began to spread outward, making Kaido feel a little dizzy.

But as a transmigrator, and with the witch's book and the God-Killing Team in hand, he would not back down out of fear.

Moreover, a voice in his subconscious seemed to have announced.

If he left now, he would definitely regret it for the rest of his life.

"..."

Damp, dark, cold.
