Chapter 232 - Chapter 232: Where Is The Passion?!

Mori Akira's POV:

*Cheering*

"THIS?! THIS IS WHAT REPLACED MY GLORIOUS PERFORMANCE?! THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!!!" I shouted as I witnessed the two masked men in their underwear wrestle in the muddy ground.

In previous years, there had been no sideshow entertainment during the breaks between each round. Hence, I thought it would have been a simple matter to get permission to perform our plays and quickly put the matter out of my mind after sending in the request forums. However, it seemed like we were beaten to the punch.

*Cheering*

'Mudwrestling' a new sport that apparently gained fame recently on the 2nd moon. It's a barbaric gladiator brawl that pits to masked men in light clothing against each other as they wrestle barehanded without the use of qi while inside a puddle of mud. While I can applaud the artistic touch of their masks and the almost adequate nicknames, everything else is just so unrefined. The announcer just dispassionately announced their mediocre nicknames and the fight began. Where is the backstory, their reason to fight, the flashy attack names, dramatic poses, the drama, the action, but most important of all, where is the passion! This drivel is just so bland it's insulting.

"Hello! My magical compatriot! It's me, the magical alchemist Su, here to turn your frown upside down through the power of swag!" The wise one said as she placed her aluminum hat on my head.

"How can you be so nonchalant when such an uninspiring performance has taken the spotlight away?!" I asked, feeling the rage building inside me slowly turning into depression.

After finding that the proposal I had forwarded had been almost completely rejected in favor of this barbaric sport, I had rushed to contact the tournament officials, making my complaint known as I were eventually directed to the person who was responsible for this travesty, princess Yui. The woman who has been trying to get in bed with my superior for the last couple of years, was apparently an avid fan of this sport. I had pleaded with her to reconsider and even offered to give her access to the dark lord's bedchambers, but she just refused with a look of disgust as she threw me out of the palace.

"How am I to take the stage if there is no stage to take? I spent all that time preparing for my role as the great phantom detective Moriarty in the 3rd act, but we did not even make it to the 2nd!"

We had planned the entire night's performance meticulously. The opening act would be a song and dance, performed by Riku under the stage-name Riri the magical girl, and lady Su. Then we would perform a number of theatrical performances dedicated to each of the characters before coming together for the finally, for one grand performance. My character was the cool and mysterious phantom detective Moriarty, fighting crime with the power sealed inside my right eye. I had spent no small amount to have my costume made in time for this event, I even acquired special eye contacts that would change my eye color, and it was now all for nought.

"Fear not, for there is always hope to be found in the future, but if we are to defeat the evil moon goons than we need to unite for the-!"

"MISS SU!!!"

Cutting off her words of wisdom was someone who looked vaguely familiar. He looked like a young man, with brown hair and slightly tanned skin. However, there was this strange presence I felt standing behind his shoulder. Before I could figure out what that was, I felt the young man's jade-colored eyes piercing into me as his previous expression turned from friendly to cautious.

"Lady Su, is this man bothering you?!" He spoke with hostility directed towards me.

"Oh, would you look at the clock! Got to go! Bye Bye! Magical girl out!" The wise one said as she smoke bombed away.

As she left, I felt a new hope for the future all thanks to her wise words. There will always be next time, and by then, I will have an even grander performance to display to the world.

"I wonder if she would let me borrow some of those smoke bombs?" I muttered to myself as I began making plans for the future.

*Cough**Cough*

"Ugh! Not again! Hey, you!"

"Hm?"

Interrupting my thoughts was that man again, staring daggers at me as he said.

"What does the green palace want with her?!" He asked, displaying his blue stage qi pressure.

"Have we met before? You seem familiar somehow." I asked as no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't quite remember who this young man was.

Even amongst nascent souls, there are ways to determine ones age through our sixth sense as there are still some parts of the body that will age at a normal speed, like the eyes for example. Though, I realize its rich coming from me who wasn't even a century yet when reaching it, this man is astonishingly young for a blue core cultivator as he seems to not even be half my age. I would have thought I'd be able to remember such a talent, but I'm still drawing a blank.
