Chapter 243 - Chapter 243: Intolerable!

Even if one had the qualifications to obtain a black-grade mecha, without sufficient cultivation, the combat strength that the black-grade mecha could display would be limited. In that case, a purple-grade mecha might actually be more practical.

The rest of the day's matches didn't have much to watch. Only the seventh match—Yuanen Yehui versus Teng Teng of Monster Academy—had any real entertainment value.

Teng Teng was one of the Eight Heavenly Kings of Monster Academy, known as the Shadow King, a Soul King of the agility-attack type.

But in the end, Teng Teng was defeated. Even though he possessed a one-word battle armor, he still couldn't overcome Yuanen Yehui.

This was primarily due to Yuanen Yehui's imposing presence, which severely countered agility-type soul masters. Furthermore, being a power-attack battle soul master, she inherently had the advantage over agility-types.

Moreover, although Teng Teng had a one-word battle armor, Yuanen already possessed all the core pieces of her own armor.

She had completed both arms and shoulders—those four components—as well as the full chestplate, waist armor, and battle skirt.

The waist armor and battle skirt were a single unit. The chestplate, meanwhile, was considered the core piece of any armor set, often regarded as the very soul of a complete set.

Creating this core meant she was not far from completing the full battle armor—just a matter of time.

With the core in place, although she hadn't yet completed the full armor, the power her armor granted her exceeded sixty percent of a full set. On top of that, the armor was crafted with spirit-refined metal, which made even her one-word armor stronger than standard armor.

So from the start, victory had leaned toward Yuanen Yehui.

And she still hadn't used her second martial soul.

The round of sixty-four down to thirty-two took an entire day.

But for most people, the excitement dwindled. Monster Academy lost again. They represented the Star Luo Empire! How could they keep losing? The public was growing restless. They wanted victories. More importantly, they wanted to see Long Yue face off against Shrek Academy's strongest.

Public opinion was in chaos. Teng Teng's injuries weren't too serious. Thanks to the treatment from a Titled Douluo of the healing type, he had mostly recovered. But his battle armor had been heavily damaged by Yuanen Yehui's aura-infused punches, and repairing it would take time. In future team matches, the armor's effectiveness would be severely compromised.

After all, partial damage was one thing. If it were completely broken, the loss would be monumental. Crafting a single one-word armor was enormously expensive. Teng Teng, now a five-ring Soul King, needed to begin preparing for his two-word armor stage. So how much strength he could display in future matches was now uncertain.

If Monster Academy wanted to defeat Shrek, they had to rely on the team competition. The team battles, once overlooked, were now taking center stage. It would be the ultimate test of both academies' comprehensive strength. Only through this match could they determine which one truly deserved the title of number one academy.

The competition continued. The second day of the top sixty-four matches was just as exciting.

From Monster Academy, aside from Teng Teng who was eliminated by Yuanen Yehui, four other students made it into the top thirty-two. Long Yue was the final act of the day. As expected, the match was just a repeat of previous ones—he easily defeated his opponent and advanced to the next round.

The knockout stage of the individual competition didn't include any breaks. Right after the first round concluded, the thirty-two-to-sixteen matches began. And they all had to be completed within the same day.

Naturally, those who had fought the previous day were at a slight disadvantage, but the schedule was fixed.

Back at Star Luo Stadium, Gu You was forced to wear a hooded robe he bought locally. He had practically become a celebrity across the Star Luo Empire. Walking down the street, he would immediately be recognized. If he wasn't pointed at and mocked, he'd definitely be cursed at.

The authorities could intervene in major incidents, but verbal abuse was difficult to control.

Gu You already knew who his opponent was today.

Dai Yuner.

One of the Eight Heavenly Kings—Spirit Queen Dai Yuner.

Entering the waiting area, Gu You finally removed his hood and revealed his face. Members of Monster Academy had already arrived. The moment he appeared, Dai Yuner sprang from her seat and rushed in front of him, blocking his path.

"Gu You, I'm your opponent today!" Her eyes blazed with determination.

"I know." Gu You looked at the princess in mild exasperation.

"Then why aren't you surrendering? If you give up now, I'll let you off easy." She lifted her chin arrogantly.

Gu You rolled his eyes and muttered, "No brains."

Then he walked right past her and took his seat without another glance.

Dai Yuner stood frozen in place, her whole figure rigid.

'No brains? What does that mean? Did he just question my intelligence? Me? Ice-snow clever me?!'

'This is beyond insulting—unbearable! Absolutely intolerable!'

Just as she was about to scream in rage, Dai Yueyan rushed over and pulled her back.

Even so, her eyes were fixed on Gu You like daggers.

'I've got a little gift prepared for you, just wait and see.' A cold smile tugged at her lips.

After all, soul tools were allowed in matches. She had specially requested several excellent ones from her father.

Dai Yueyan didn't know what to say anymore. Was Gu You born just to clash with his precious sister?

Fortunately, the match was about to begin. Dai Yuner finally sat back down, though still fuming. Dai Yueyan managed to calm her with one sentence: 'You'll be facing him on the stage soon. No need to waste your anger now.'

If eyes could kill, Gu You would've been reduced to ashes under her blazing stare.

Thirty-two into sixteen—sixteen matches total, all duels.

Once this round ended, the participants would get a day's rest before the top sixteen face-offs.

Tension filled the stadium. Another Shrek vs. Monster Academy clash was about to begin.

This time it was the princess herself against Shrek Academy's undefeated prodigy.

How would this battle unfold?

The truth was, few people truly knew the depth of Princess Yuner's strength. Most were unsure what level she had reached.

On paper, she was only a five-ring Soul King—not even a one-word battle armor master. Although her soul rings were of high quality, that didn't mean much on its own. She was ranked last among the Eight Heavenly Kings. And Gu You had already defeated Su Mu in seconds. This duel didn't look promising.

But rumors claimed the princess was a once-in-a-generation royal genius, her potential surpassing even her brother Dai Yueyan. Some even whispered that she had inherited a mysterious ability from their ancient bloodline.

Just what kind of power did she really hold?

This match would decide that.

If…
