Chapter 244 - Chapter 244: Level Nine Soul Tool

If Princess Yun'er could defeat that genius youth from Shrek Academy, she would instantly rise to the level of a national goddess in the eyes of the people.

Of course, even if she lost, it wouldn't be a big deal. The enemy must have been too cunning!

Most people will always side with the familiar rather than the fair.

Gu You wasn't scheduled as the first match today, which was a good thing. Any more would have been too obvious.

Xie Xie was scheduled for the third match, Yuanen Yehui the seventh, and Gu You the eighth.

Xie Xie's match was rather tough today. It took him more than ten minutes to finally find an opening and break through his opponent's defense. Still, his luck hadn't been too bad so far—although this round he faced a five-ring Soul King, the opponent's battle armor wasn't complete and he wasn't even a One-Word Battle Armor Master.

Yuanen Yehui fought in the seventh match. Her opponent was arguably the weakest among the top thirty-two. She didn't even break a sweat, easily defeating him and entering the top sixteen along with Xie Xie.

Given their age, being able to enter the top sixteen in the Continental Youth Advanced Soul Master Elite Tournament was already an extremely rare feat.

And next, stepping onto the stage—was Gu You.

Dai Yun'er had long been itching for action. The moment the match between Yuanen Yehui and her opponent ended, she leaped up from her seat, raised her right index finger, and pointed directly at Gu You.

Gu You stood up as well, but didn't even glance in her direction. He calmly walked toward the arena.

"Yun'er, calm yourself," said Dai Yueyan in a low voice.

"I'm going to beat him until he can't take care of himself!" Dai Yun'er stormed out furiously, chasing Gu You's footsteps as she climbed onto the arena.

"Gu You, you're dead meat!"

Just as Gu You stepped onto the platform, her voice sounded in his head.

'This damn voice transmission tool is so annoying.'

Although he appeared indifferent toward Dai Yun'er, in truth, he didn't underestimate her in the slightest.

She couldn't possibly be unaware of the difference in their strength. No matter how foolish she might be, she wouldn't come to challenge him without some hidden card.

There were only two possibilities in Gu You's mind—either she was hiding something powerful, or… she was just plain stupid.

Dai Yun'er's eyes were blazing as she stared at Gu You. Her small hands rubbed together in front of her chest, her eyes sharp and eager, as if she wanted to pounce on him immediately.

"This match features Princess Dai Yun'er of the Ling King lineage versus the prodigious youth from Shrek Academy, Gu You. Based on their prior performances, Princess Dai Yun'er wields the Nether Spirit Cat, a hereditary martial soul from the Empire, and is an agility-type soul master known for her incredible speed and fierce attacks. Gu You, on the other hand, is a power-type battle soul master whose matches have left deep impressions on us all. This duel promises to be thrilling!"

"Begin the match!"

As soon as the referee's voice fell, Dai Yun'er shot forward like lightning. Her speed was astonishing as her soul rings rose from beneath her feet—three purple, two black.

Trailing afterimages, she crossed half the field in just a single breath.

Yet, Gu You didn't move. He simply stood there, calmly waiting for her to approach.

When there were less than thirty meters between them, her first soul ring lit up. Her figure became a flash of light and reappeared in front of Gu You—it was the same first soul skill as Wu Siduo's: Nether Thrust!

But at that instant, what Gu You noticed wasn't her claw strike—it was her eyes.

Dai Yun'er's large eyes glowed with a deep blue radiance, clear like two sapphires. Gu You suddenly felt a wave of confusion wash over him, and it seemed like the world around him had slowed down.

'Crap! How is this possible?'

'Is her spiritual power stronger than mine?'

A sharp pain blossomed in his chest, and a chilling cold spread through him.

Gu You instantly sensed something was wrong. His Dragon God bloodline reacted immediately to the external threat, unleashing a wave of purplish-gold dragon scales across his chest. At the same time, he bit the tip of his tongue and activated the Purple Demon Eyes, regaining clarity from the mental haze.

A purple aura exploded outward, forcing Dai Yun'er back.

Gu You thought he'd at most suffer a minor wound, but a brilliant seven-colored glow lit up around Dai Yun'er, and she halted herself midair.

"What did you use?" Gu You asked gravely.

"Now you know how powerful I am, huh? I didn't bring much—just two level-nine defensive soul tools and three level-nine attribute amplifiers," Dai Yun'er replied smugly.

'You've got to be kidding me…'

Gu You's eyes widened in disbelief.

Level-nine soul tools were considered military-grade—no, top-tier military-grade! Each one was a national treasure. In the modern age, level-nine soul tools were three times as effective as those from ten thousand years ago. It wasn't an exaggeration to say that even a Grandmaster could use one to fend off a Soul Saint-level master.

Gu You felt the rules were a bit unfair—but then again, considering how little cultivation the little princess had, he decided to go easy on her.

But the real fight was only just beginning.

A flash of purple light shone in Gu You's eyes. With his Purple Demon Eyes defending his spiritual sea, he calmly stepped forward and punched with a simple straight fist.

The sheer force compressed the air around it. Dai Yun'er felt the space ahead of her twist under pressure, making it hard to even breathe.

Reacting quickly, she bent her knees and dropped into a crouch.

Gu You's punch struck only empty air.

"Missed me? Heh heh," Dai Yun'er sneered, not realizing that Gu You's foot had already swept toward her.

But instead of sending her flying, pain shot up Gu You's leg.

The level-nine defensive soul tool had absorbed the entire impact, dispersing the energy.

Gu You was stunned. He had always trusted in his offensive power, but this soul tool clearly wasn't an ordinary one—it was far more resilient than any standard level-nine defensive type.

Just then, a flash of ghostly light emerged from Dai Yun'er's shield and slashed toward Gu You's waist.

The timing was impeccable. In that split-second gap, she managed to seize the moment with impossible precision.

And now, with the attack so close, Gu You had no way to dodge.

He could only take it head-on—
