A moment later, a crack split the air above Dragon Valley, and five figures descended like meteorites, slamming onto the ground with a deafening impact.
There were three men and two women. The first man was massive, bald, with a face full of scars and a towering, muscular build that radiated overwhelming physical might.
Next to him stood a thin man, his skin dry and shriveled like bark, his whole body resembling a withered tree branch. But his eyes glowed with eerie green light, filled with an unsettling charm.
The third man was also powerfully built, though not as tall as the bald one. He had a head of curly red hair, and even his brows and beard were red. His eyes were sharp and aggressive, and every muscle on his body looked like it might explode with energy.
Among the two women, one had jet-black hair and wore a long black dress. Her figure was curvaceous, her posture seductive, and her eyes glowed with strange purple pupils that made her beauty feel dangerous.
The second woman wore a light sea-green dress. Her features were softer, with a natural, gentle beauty that gave off a serene and warm aura. She had the kind of presence that made anyone instinctively lower their guard.
Once they landed, all five lifted their heads and looked at the crack in the sky. Powerful energy surged from their bodies, unhindered by the pressure of Dragon Valley, as if the suppression didn't apply to them at all.
Ten beams of light shot from their hands and struck the edge of the crack. Immediately, the rift that had been struggling against the massive black dragon's claws stabilized.
A deep, low dragon roar echoed from within the crack, and the claws ripped the space apart even further. A massive black head pushed through—completely pitch-black with golden eyes that radiated a soul-piercing intensity. Just the head alone was dozens of meters high.
Then, the rest of the body followed. A second set of claws thrust through, bracing the crack from underneath. The immense dragon forced its way out, finally slipping through.
"Rooaar!" The dragon's roar split the heavens. All around, the elemental clouds rushed toward it, being absorbed into its form. Its aura exploded, expanding outward as it finally emerged fully.
It was enormous—nearly a hundred zhang long. As its wings spread, they seemed to blanket the entire sky. A dark purple-black glow surrounded its body like a domain, and in an instant, all the surrounding dragon clouds descended and took the shape of lesser dragons, clearly bowing in submission to the black dragon's overwhelming presence.
Then, the massive form began to shrink rapidly. By the time it touched the ground again, it had become a tall, handsome middle-aged man.
His long black hair fell neatly over his shoulders, parted in the center. One golden strand hung at the side of his face, striking in contrast to the rest of his dark hair.
He landed and stood among the five figures. Then he too raised both arms, and two beams of dark violet light shot into the sky, stabilizing the massive rift.
With the rift held open, another glow appeared—silver this time. From the crack descended a final figure.
When she landed, the six figures knelt in unison and shouted, "Welcome, my Lord!"
The woman wore a silver gown, her face covered by a matching silver veil. Her silver hair cascaded elegantly down her back, and her steps were completely silent, as if she bore no weight at all.
The man formed from the black dragon bowed low.
"My Lord, with the strength of the six of us holding the space stable, we can maintain the rift's structure for seven days. You must find what you need within that time."
The silver-haired woman nodded.
"I've sealed this dimensional fracture using a time-space formation. The seal will last approximately three hours in the outside world, equivalent to seven days in here. By the time I return, only three hours will have passed beyond the rift. Hold this place while I search."
With that, her figure vanished without a sound.
…
Half a month ago.
"He…" Gu Yue held the letter in her hands, lost in thought.
Beside her, Wu Zhangkong remained silent.
…
At that moment, Gu You had already absorbed the soul remnants of seventeen true dragons.
He reached the southern edge of Dragon Valley.
The terrain here changed drastically. Though it was called a valley, it was more accurately a basin—sunken deep into the earth, vast beyond measure. The far end disappeared into heavy mist. A hazy, melancholic light lingered in the air.
Looking down from above, Gu You saw an endless sea of bones—colossal dragon skeletons covering every inch of the valley floor. Each one was massive. When Gu You stood at the rim and looked inward, an overwhelming sorrow surged through his heart.
He couldn't suppress it. He threw his head back and let out a thunderous roar, a mournful dragon cry that reverberated through the entire valley.
Somewhere within the mist, another deep dragon roar answered—low and mournful, as if echoing ages of pain and loss.
At the other end of the valley, a silver figure stood on a distant cliff edge. Her eyes were cold and lifeless, but deep in their core burned a terrifying, killing intent.
As she heard the dragon's roar, her expression shifted ever so slightly. She looked into the distance, startled. Her right hand gently touched her chest, holding herself back from releasing her own roar.
Her vision pierced the mist, locking onto the origin of that voice.
Gu You's roar continued for minutes. Only after fully venting the fury in his heart did he stop.
He leapt into the valley.
The moment his feet touched the ground, an oppressive, sorrowful pressure closed in from every direction, pressing down on his soul.
He closed his eyes.
In his mind, he heard the anguished cries of the dead.
'So many… at least a thousand true dragons… died here?'
'And they were simply left to rot, not even a single tombstone…'
From above, the bones had already looked overwhelming.
But now that he was inside Dragon Valley, standing among them—he finally understood what devastation meant.
Each dragon skeleton was massive. The smallest stood over thirty meters tall, while the largest towered hundreds of meters high. Even now, they emitted faint energy pulses.
They were only bones. But they felt like dormant beasts—ready to awaken at any moment. Gu You couldn't help but wonder how terrifying they must have been in life.
He walked forward, placing his hand on the closest skeleton.
A wave of sorrow surged through his heart.
He felt the final cry of the dragon whose bones lay before him—a soul that had died in despair.
The dragon bones had faint markings etched into them, and a frightening aura lingered in the air like a ghostly fog.
He kept walking, touching one skeleton after another, his heart growing heavier with each step.
