Chapter 270 - Chapter 270: Just Turned Eighteen!

"You better work hard. She's still single, you know."

Gu You froze for a moment, then couldn't help but laugh. "Are you playing matchmaker now, sir?"

The lieutenant sighed. "What can I do? She's my only daughter."

Gu You nearly choked on the gossip. 'Father and daughter serving together? That's something new.' But thinking about it, it wasn't all that rare. The Blood God Legion's service term was long, and many talented parents, especially women, chose to enlist alongside their children. It made for a unique experience.

"She takes after her father. Feels a little weird, doesn't it? But it's totally normal here. This is the army. During official hours, we refer to each other by rank. Off-duty, she's still my daughter. Alright, let's finish the registration. Your identity has already been recorded through the recommendation letter. Gu You, affiliated with the Spirit Pagoda, correct?"

"Yes," Gu You nodded. After all, the letter came from Leng Yaozhu. Adjusting the background was standard procedure.

"Age: eighteen? What's your current spirit power level? We need an accurate number."

"Seventy... Around level seventy. I haven't tested it in a while." Gu You almost laughed aloud. Leng Yaozhu really knew how to fabricate details. But it worked perfectly for him—he had just turned eighteen.

The lieutenant gave him a stern look. "Kid, let's be honest here. Lying isn't good."

"I'm not lying!" Gu You smiled as seven white soul rings rose beneath his feet.

The lieutenant's eyes nearly popped out of her head. "Seven white rings?! A Spirit Sage at your age? What on earth does the Spirit Pagoda feed you kids? Monsters?!"

Grinning, Gu You retracted the soul rings—illusions formed by his spiritual power.

"Battle armor. What's it called?" the lieutenant asked with a cough. Truthfully, she was still recovering. In all her years, she had never met a Spirit Sage with this configuration at just eighteen. It was eye-opening.

"Zijin," Gu You replied.

"Two-word battle armor?" the lieutenant's voice shook slightly. She was beginning to understand why her daughter had taken special interest in this young man. The reason she'd even mentioned her daughter's single status earlier was because Long Yuxue had said his name aloud. That had never happened before.

After recording a series of details, she took out several sets of military uniforms—two light ones, two heavy winter outfits—and handed them over.

"Commander, there aren't any weapons included?" Gu You asked, a little hopeful. He wanted to try driving a tank or flying a fighter jet.

The lieutenant shook her head. "No. In the Blood God Legion, no one gets something for nothing. If you want powerful weapons or higher rank, you have to earn them yourself. Here, only military merit earns you anything."

Military merit? Missions? In peacetime, earning merit wasn't easy. But in the Blood God Legion, there were definitely more options...

"You'll understand in time. Go on, she's waiting for you outside," the lieutenant said, her smile tinged with mischief.

Gu You smirked. "Commander, I already have a girlfriend."

The lieutenant paused, then shrugged. "That's nothing. Until you're married, anything's possible."

Gu You didn't respond further. He pounded his right fist against his left chest—executing a Blood God Legion salute. Then he tucked the uniforms into his storage ring and walked out.

Long Yuxue stood outside, face cold as always. When she saw him, she said, "Come with me. I'll take you to your quarters and give you a basic overview of the camp."

The weather outside remained bitterly cold, but to Gu You, it hardly made a difference.

"First, you need to know which areas are off-limits. That building over there is the legion command center. Without sufficient rank or a direct summons, you may not enter. Over there is the weapons depot—strictly restricted. Over here are the barracks, and that's the training zone, the busiest part of the camp. It's equipped with the Federation's most advanced training tech. You're free to use it anytime, but you must wear your uniform. Your ID is embedded in the badge. Without it, you won't be able to move around."

Long Yuxue explained everything in detail.

"Commander, I have a question. Can I leave the camp freely?" Gu You asked.

Long Yuxue stopped. "Leave the camp? Why?"

"Nothing major. Just want to go out for a walk. The camp feels rigid. I prefer the feeling of standing atop the snowy peaks outside."

"In the Blood God Legion, you won't get leave until you reach the rank of Major. Once you do, you'll have one free day per week to go out. But you must leave all weapons and equipment behind, including mechas. You can only rely on your own abilities."

"Oh," Gu You nodded.

From what he knew about military rankings, the progression went: Private Third Class, then Second Class, First Class, all under the private tier. Then came Second Lieutenant, First Lieutenant, Captain—finally Major.

That meant he needed to advance six ranks to qualify.

"Advancing through the early ranks isn't too hard. Judging by your combat ability, it shouldn't be a problem. But first, you'll go through a month of special training—all new recruits do. This training will familiarize you with the Blood God Legion and teach you what your duties are."

Gu You asked, "Commander, how long did it take you to become a Major?"

Long Yuxue's brow rose slightly. "Don't aim too high too fast. It took me four years. You might be faster, but don't be greedy. That's how most deaths in the Blood God Legion happen. You'll learn all about this during the training."

"Understood!" Gu You thumped his chest in a salute.

Long Yuxue led him to a cluster of barracks. Inside, it was spotless. Everything was metallic, but once inside the room, the temperature rose—warm and cozy.

"This is your room. Everyone has their own quarters. Your current rank is recruit, so this is the base level. Once you rise to officer level, you'll get an upgrade. Another upgrade comes at the field officer level. Your assessment will be evaluated later today. Special training begins tomorrow. Rest up for now."

Long Yuxue turned to leave—but…
