The next instant, the wings on her back flapped again, and no one knew from where she pulled out a strange weapon that resembled both bone and a warblade.
She slashed it straight toward the Golden Dragon Spear!
"Boom—"
Momei had clearly underestimated the power of the Golden Dragon Spear. Her body reeled back, flying dozens of meters away.
"Ah!"
She let out a series of miserable shrieks.
Gu You knew this was a perfect opportunity. The Golden Dragon Spear spun back, and he instantly flashed forward to finish the job.
Momei regained her senses. In the very next moment after she retreated, light shimmered across her body. Her wings flapped, and in an instant, she appeared right in front of Gu You.
"So nice of you to deliver yourself to me." Gu You chuckled as he thrust the Golden Dragon Spear.
Momei snorted coldly in disdain. Her long blade left a series of afterimages. She was just too fast. Before Gu You's spear could land, her blade had already slashed down on his shoulder.
"Pu—" A splash of blood burst forth. Gu You felt the terrifying force nearly crush his left shoulder blade. But in that moment, his incredibly resilient body displayed its value.
Even though he couldn't use soul skills or soul power, the defense of the Mountain Dragon King's torso bone was still active. As his collarbone and scapula shattered, the bones forcefully contracted, clamping down on her warblade.
From that blade surged an aura filled with despair and destruction.
'Not bad, but not enough!'
Gu You clamped the weapon with pure physical strength. While Momei struggled to pull it free, he stabbed forward with the Golden Dragon Spear again and again. The first strike had pierced her, but not deeply enough. However, every subsequent thrust landed with brutal precision—each one a critical hit.
Momei howled in agony.
"Human. Your soul shall suffer eternal torment in the Abyss!" Her voice echoed once more in Gu You's mind.
"Then why don't you return to your Abyss first!" With a final thrust, the spear drove deep into her body, greedily devouring her energy.
"Aaaaah—!"
Amidst screams of agony, her body dissolved into energy, forever absorbed into Gu You's body and thoroughly digested. She couldn't even return to the Abyss.
With a flash of golden light, the Golden Dragon Spear returned to his hand. Gu You took a deep breath and yanked the warblade still stuck in his shoulder. Then he adjusted the blood vortex within his body, sending vigorous blood energy rushing toward the wound. Left hand gripping the spear, his right hand pushed and snapped the bones in place.
From behind him, the Major could even hear the cracking sounds of bones shifting, but Gu You's body didn't tremble at all.
'This is steel-forged willpower!'
"Ah, it's over. It should be over now." The Major nervously fumbled around herself. She couldn't go on—if this kept up, she might die of shock.
Everything around them warped. His body trembled, and Gu You slowly opened his eyes. His chest heaved slightly before gradually calming.
He instinctively touched his left shoulder.
The glass dome opened. All the restraints on Gu You's body disengaged. Rolling his shoulder a bit, he stepped out from the pod.
The other glass dome remained closed. The Major hadn't awoken yet. Through the glass, Gu You saw her brows tightly furrowed, as if she were enduring extreme pain.
Suddenly, her body jerked violently, then settled again. 'Waking up, huh? She scared me for a moment.'
From her soul power aura, Gu You had already judged that she should be around five rings. Though he didn't know her background, reaching this level at around twenty-five or twenty-six years old was quite impressive.
After all, one couldn't compare others using his standard. Among his peers, he stood at the very peak.
A moment later, the Major slowly opened her eyes. Her gaze was dazed at first, then gradually focused. Through the glass, she saw Gu You standing there looking at her.
A trace of complex emotion flickered in her eyes. She activated the glass pod and released herself from the restraints.
When she stepped out, her legs gave way. Gu You instinctively stepped forward and caught her.
He hadn't noticed during battle, but now Gu You clearly felt it—her body temperature was high, her figure well-proportioned and very springy. It was obvious she trained often. Short hair framed a valiant, commanding face.
"Thank you." Her cheeks flushed as she struggled to stand straight.
Gu You asked, "So... my assessment?"
She paused but quickly regained her composure. Even her cold expression returned to normal.
"You passed. Come with me." She turned and walked out quickly, far faster than when they came in, as if trying to escape something.
Gu You followed the Major, weaving through the base.
Soon, they returned to the initial location, where the female lieutenant was still waiting.
"Assessment complete? Took a while. Did he pass?" The lieutenant smiled cheerfully.
The Major nodded. "He passed."
Gu You noticed they didn't use military ranks this time.
"What rank did he earn?" the lieutenant asked with curiosity.
The Major shook her head. "I don't know. That'll have to be decided above. But it's high."
"High?" The lieutenant knew her well. For her to say that, this young man must have given her a major shock.
"Prepare his supplies and assign him temporarily to Special Ops. Final placement will depend on his rating." the Major said.
"Got it. Want to show him around? He's officially part of the Blood God Legion now." The lieutenant smiled.
The Major hesitated for a moment but nodded. "Alright. I'll wait outside. You handle registration."
She turned to leave, then paused after a few steps. Turning back, she looked at Gu You and said, "My name is Long Yuxue." Then she walked out.
'Long Yuxue... why does that name sound so familiar?'
"Do you think her name's pretty?" the lieutenant asked with a smile.
Gu You gave her a curious look, then smiled. "It's not bad."
The lieutenant leaned in, voice mysteriously low. "Then work hard..."
