Chapter 268 - Chapter 268: Golden Dragon Spear

A massive figure emerged from the shadows.

It was a creature Gu You had never seen before. Its head resembled that of a giant dragon, but its body was like a moving mountain, covered in dark green scales. Three thick legs supported its body, and its upper torso was especially muscular. Its arms were abnormally long, ending in two massive claws—exactly like the ones Gu You had seen earlier. Each claw was more than five meters in diameter. A thick tail dragged along behind it. The creature had four eyes, each glowing a terrifying shade of crimson, and its entire presence exuded savage menace.

"That's Ba'an. Be careful," the major warned him in a low voice.

'Ba'an?' Gu You frowned. Aside from the name, the warning didn't help much.

Still, it was better than nothing. Any abyssal creature with a name was likely to be strong. Gu You said firmly, "Stay here and lean against the wall. Don't move. I'll take care of it." Without another word, he strode forward, heading straight for the beast.

This thing was enormous. Standing nearly forty meters tall, it was second only to the Titan Giant Ape among the massive terrestrial soul beasts Gu You had encountered.

Compared to Ba'an's sheer size, Gu You looked tiny. But as he launched himself forward like an arrow, his body soared upward with incredible speed.

The major stood frozen in the corner, eyes locked on Gu You's form charging ahead. For some reason, her heart skipped a beat in that moment.

Not everyone could face a creature like Ba'an head-on and still muster the courage to charge. Especially not on their first encounter.

With a thunderous roar, Ba'an's four blazing eyes lit up like fireballs. It opened its maw and unleashed a torrent of dark purple flames straight toward Gu You.

The major instinctively shut her eyes, unable to watch. She didn't want to see Gu You consumed by the abyssal hellfire.

'Without any equipment, no ordinary Soul Master can survive Ba'an's flames. They'd melt instantly, reduced to nothing but vengeful spirits!'

But in the next instant, what rang in her ears was not Gu You's scream—but Ba'an's furious howl of pain.

Her eyes flew open, just in time to see a figure cloaked in violet-gold crash down upon Ba'an from above. She would never forget that image—Ba'an's massive form being sent flying, slamming into the far cavern wall before bouncing off and crashing to the ground.

Gu You descended from the air and casually tossed away the soul rifle in his hand. It was useless now, incapable of causing any real harm.

His body was now fully covered in violet-gold scales. Dragon claws extended from his hands, and six blood-colored rings rose beneath his feet, rhythmically pulsing around him.

'Is that...'

'Golden? Blue? Soul rings? No—that's impossible! Humans can't summon martial souls in here!'

The major stared in shock. Then Gu You shot into the air once more, moving even faster than before—like a violet-gold cannonball streaking toward Ba'an.

Ba'an had climbed to its feet, its durability clearly impressive. But even so, a visible dent remained in its skull—proof of Gu You's previous blow.

"Golden Dragon Spear—go!"

Gu You's voice rang out coldly. A golden light burst forth, streaking across the air like lightning to pierce through the abyss.

In the blink of an eye, it reached Ba'an. The massive creature instinctively raised its claws to defend, but the golden spear passed straight through them—impaling the center of its four-eyed forehead.

A shrill, ear-splitting scream erupted from Ba'an's mouth as countless streams of dark green energy surged toward the golden spear, pulled from its body with unstoppable force.

Gu You dropped from the air, chest heaving violently. In this realm, his blood power could not be replenished—every second of combat drained him further.

Ba'an's immense body shuddered violently, trying to break free from the spear's grip. But at this point, there was no escape.

The dark green energy stained the golden spear's surface—but as Ba'an's body began to collapse, crumbling apart piece by piece, the light returned to the spear.

With one final flash of gold, all the green vanished. The next moment, the Golden Dragon Spear had returned to Gu You's hand.

He could feel a pure wave of energy surging into his body. It didn't restore his soul power—but his bloodline's soul rings began to rotate wildly, infused with refined essence that strengthened him further.

The major remained speechless.

She stared at Gu You's back, dumbfounded.

'He fought Ba'an in close combat and won? With brute strength? A mysterious golden ring… and terrifying power… Is he really human?'

Just then, another dark green figure flashed out of the central tunnel and floated in midair.

Gu You frowned. 'More of them? Good. The Dragon Spear's backlash turns into energy—let's enjoy a few more rounds.'

This new figure was significantly smaller than Ba'an. It was just over two meters tall, barely larger than a human. A pair of wings spread from its back, resembling bat wings but with huge skeletal structures and dark green scales instead of membrane.

Her body closely resembled a human woman's—but far more exaggerated. An enormous chest, burning green flames in her eyes, a thin waist that sharply contrasted her wide hips, and limbs covered in sharp spikes.

'Void Empress?'

Gu You's eyes narrowed. 'Why does this thing look so familiar? And… I can't sense any danger from her?'

But as soon as she appeared, the major's expression changed drastically. The awe she had felt moments ago vanished, replaced by raw fear.

"Ma Mei."

"Human. Die!" Ma Mei's voice echoed directly into Gu You's soul.

As she spoke, a strange glowing sigil appeared before her. At the same moment, Gu You felt his body stiffen, his life force rapidly draining away. A dark green symbol had somehow appeared around him, flooding into his body.

"Hmph!" Gu You snorted coldly. The blood vortex within him roared to life.

The Golden Dragon Spear transformed into a massive golden dragon, launching forward at a speed too fast for the naked eye to follow.

Ma Mei groaned, the ghostly green flames in her eyes flickering violently...
