Chapter 345 - Chapter 345: The Dragon Blade’s Anomaly

"Star Dou Battle Network supposedly can't support battles above three-word battle armor. That's why there's a limit," Zhang Huanyun said, frowning. "But their next clash might already be at that level. I'm not sure if the Star Dou pods or the system can withstand it."

Cao Dezhi replied, "They've surely reinforced the system. Similar scenarios happened in earlier matches. For the finals, the Federation would have reinforced the battlefield to the highest degree. As for the pods… that's another story. Let's wait and see."

Zhang Huanyun nodded. "The Star Dou Battle Network is certainly a groundbreaking innovation, but to truly become part of people's lives, it still has a long way to go. This year's tournament looks flashy on the surface, but the flaws in the system are glaring. Once the event ends, I suspect it'll go back into development. Who knows when we'll see a better version. Hardware, systems—there's too much that needs improvement."

Cao Dezhi agreed. "That's true. But for us old-timers, the very existence of Star Dou Battle Network is astonishing enough. Just wait—Federation technology has been bottlenecked for a while now. The lack of resources has pushed most efforts toward space exploration. Only by finding a new resource planet can the Federation survive."

Zhang Huanyun sighed. "Some don't see it that way. They think there's still plenty of resources to exploit on Douluo Star. Their eyes are set on Dou Ling and Xing Luo—far more 'attainable' than the uncertain void of outer space. If you ask me, war won't wait much longer."

Cao Dezhi's brows furrowed. "All wars are fought over interests. And those who suffer most are always the civilians. The Blood God Legion should never take part in such internal strife between humans."

Zhang Huanyun nodded. "Right. My strength is meant to protect humanity, not destroy it. The Federation Council has really been disappointing. Let's just wait and see. Regardless, our true enemy remains the Abyssal Plane. And those old officers can't command us anyway."

On screen, the black and multicolored auras rose to their peak, clashing violently.

Gu You, wings fully unfurled behind him, surged forward, his entire body encased in a massive rainbow-colored dragon. He shot toward Sima Jinchi like a meteor.

Sima Jinchi also leapt into the air. His terrifying blade intent surrounded him with shattered dragon corpses. The black world around him radiated desolation, anguish, and remorse. He faced Gu You head-on.

Gu You, now one with his dragon form, charged into that pitch-black world like a moth to flame. The surrounding temperature plummeted, the cries of despair intensified—until, in that moment of darkness, a blinding light erupted. Like the first dawn, it slashed through all shadows. A devastating blade light roared forth.

The Golden Dragon Spear trembled. A resonant dragon roar burst from Gu You, echoing throughout the battlefield.

The mournful cries abruptly halted under that roar—as if something unimaginable had occurred. Only then did spear and blade truly collide.

BOOOOM!!!

It was as if a thunderclap split the heavens. The collision point annihilated both the black and rainbow-colored auras, revealing Gu You and the armored Sima Jinchi at close quarters.

Gu You's spearpoint pressed directly against the edge of Sima Jinchi's blade.

A terrifying burst of energy exploded from the collision point, sending Sima Jinchi hurtling backward, opening a wide gap between them.

The Dragon-Slaying Saber let out a deep hum. But something was off.

Its typical cry was one of sorrow. Yet now, after clashing with the Golden Dragon Spear, it no longer mourned—it rejoiced. The hum grew louder, clearer, like the triumphant cheer of a soul freed from chains.

Even Sima Jinchi was stunned. He could feel it clearly—after colliding with the Golden Dragon Spear, his soul power surged violently, as if catalyzed. His fusion with the Dragon-Slaying Saber became deeper than ever. It was as if the blade had become an extension of his body, resonating with a joyous emotion that flooded his heart.

'What's going on? Is his martial soul… a righteous dragon? But even so, it shouldn't make the blade so happy!'

It had only been a probing strike, but the sensation it left behind was far from what either of them expected.

The counterforce had shaken Sima Jinchi's very core.

Yet for Gu You, the Golden Dragon Spear stirred with exultation. It felt as if the weapon had encountered a kindred spirit—a long-lost companion finally reunited.

But for Sima Jinchi, the feeling was even stronger—bordering on reverence. A feeling as if he had just reunited with a beloved elder.

Both stabilized themselves. Neither rushed to strike again. They stood still, gazing at one another.

Gu You took a deep breath and raised his spear.

In an instant, man and spear became one. A razor-sharp intent shot forth, aimed squarely at Sima Jinchi.

Sima Jinchi lifted his Dragon-Slaying Saber. Across the blade's surface, images of broken dragons emerged like clouds. His blade intent erupted, vast and unrelenting.

In the next moment, Gu You moved. A tap of his toes launched him forward, wings flaring wide behind him. In a flash, he became a bolt of light, a living spear, shooting straight for Sima Jinchi.

Sima Jinchi let out a roar. Soul rings lit up around him. With a sweep of his Dragon-Slaying Saber, a massive blade light surged out, accompanied by the anguished roar of a dying dragon. Behind him, a black dragon spirit emerged, thrashing and struggling in the sky.

It looked like it was trying to break free from some invisible shackle—until a flash of white light split its body in half.

All at once, resentment, pain, regret, and hatred—all the emotions of agony—rushed like black torrents into the Dragon-Slaying Saber.

On the blade's edge, dark scale-like textures appeared, pulsing with malevolent energy.

ROAAAAAR!!!

At that very moment, a massive multicolored dragon head burst forth from the tip of the Golden Dragon Spear and unleashed a deafening roar.

A miracle happened.

That blackened blade light—once filled with anguish and negativity—began to melt under the dragon's roar. The dark scales faded. The sinister aura dissipated rapidly.

Even more—something new began to emerge...
