Chapter 360 - Chapter 360: The Plan?

The deep and explosive rumbles continued as wave after wave of abyssal creatures burst into mist upon contact with the intense energy bombardment.

"Any readings from the radar?" asked Zhang Huanyun, the commander of the Blood God Army, his voice steady despite the mounting pressure. The Blood God Legion had the most sensitive detection systems at its disposal.

A reply came swiftly, "We've detected a constant surge of abyssal life forms pouring up from below. Based on density and fluctuations, we believe there's at least one more high-level entity—comparable to the last one. But due to extreme abyssal energy interference, our detection probes can't penetrate deeper to confirm exact details."

Zhang Huanyun nodded slowly. "Keep observing. Don't let your guard down."

He then flickered across the sky, landing beside Xue Yi and the calm-faced Douluo known as Wu Qing—Cao Dezhi. The latter rose and greeted him with a small nod.

Zhang Huanyun lowered his voice, "I'll coordinate with you, but wouldn't this alert the enemy? We might be acting too soon."

Cao Dezhi chuckled softly, "This isn't about alerting anyone. Every abyssal monarch we destroy permanently reduces the strength of the Abyss Plane. We'll start with this one. We don't know what else lies deeper in that tunnel, so we strike once and retreat. You draw it out, I'll lock it down, and you'll complete the transfer."

Zhang Huanyun took a breath, then gave a resolute nod. "Understood." With that, he vanished once more into the sky above the main abyssal passage.

"Deploy high-explosive charges—dense barrage—for one minute. Launch!"

White-hot streaks of energy exploded from the round cannon ports in rapid succession. Over three hundred high-explosive bombs were launched in that single minute. Each ball, no larger than a melon, glowed with intensifying brightness as it surged toward the target. When the radiant intensity reached its peak, every orb detonated with a cataclysmic roar.

These charges weren't soul-guided shells—they couldn't be fired from a great distance. But within a fixed area, their chain-reactive destruction made them even more devastating. Against abyssal creatures, they were brutally effective.

The inner chamber of the abyssal tunnel was instantly flooded with incandescent light. White brilliance devoured everything in sight. Countless abyssal creatures were torn to shreds, their essence and energy bursting into mist, scattered by the shockwaves.

Within moments, the tunnel was cleared.

Simultaneously, Zhang Huanyun barked a series of commands, coordinating the entire defense formation. Under the blinding light of the explosions, a new presence emerged behind him—a circular mirror glowing like a full moon.

At first, it was no larger than half a meter in diameter, but as three of Zhang Huanyun's soul rings shone in succession, the mirror expanded rapidly, reaching over fifty meters across. Energy ripples danced across its surface as powerful soul power resonated through the sky.

Then, silently and unseen, a figure slipped into the abyssal tunnel. Just a single flash—and it vanished.

Down below, the Six-Clawed Demon Emperor raised its massive arms, shielding itself from the bombardment. It didn't care about its fallen brethren. On the contrary, it welcomed the carnage. The more abyssal creatures perished, the more the spatial vortex expanded. This vortex would allow more creatures to enter—and, eventually, more monarchs.

It wanted the humans to waste their strength wiping out its troops. After all, it didn't plan to die today.

Unlike cannon fodder abyssals, monarchs could not afford to fall easily. Death for them wasn't a mere inconvenience—it was an invitation for rivals to steal their thrones.

In the Abyss Plane, each of the 108 layers had its own monarch. These monarchs ruled over their layers by controlling their core essences. If a monarch died, that core would drag their remaining energy back to their native layer, initiating a painful regeneration process. But if a rival discovered the recovering core and seized it, the former monarch would not only lose their title—they'd lose their life and power forever.

So while the lesser creatures were expendable, monarchs like the Six-Clawed Demon Emperor were anything but reckless.

Just as it lowered its arms, a strange sensation crawled over its body.

'What's happening?'

Alarmed, the Six-Clawed Demon Emperor tried to react—but it was already too late.

Four enormous swords appeared out of nowhere, their ancient designs pulsing with power. They carved the surrounding space into a prison, sealing the demon in place.

Then, from the heavens, a blinding white beam descended and engulfed the behemoth's entire form. Before it could resist or even scream, the demon was reduced to a streak of white light—completely gone. Its massive hundred-meter body didn't even leave a shadow behind.

Meanwhile, the Ant Emperor crouched on a nearby wall, calmly observing. It wasn't fazed by the explosions above. Such things were irrelevant to it.

But then, its composure shattered.

Four ancient swords materialized in the air, and in an instant, the Six-Clawed Demon Emperor had vanished—packed up like cargo and whisked away in a radiant beam of light.

The lesser abyssals had blocked the humans' line of sight. Unfortunately, they had also obstructed the Ant Emperor's view.

It blinked in disbelief. 'The humans captured him? Since when were they this powerful?'

Despite its own confidence—despite knowing it was stronger than the Six-Clawed Demon Emperor—the Ant Emperor dared not act rashly. It had witnessed something it couldn't comprehend, a phenomenon it didn't believe it could escape from either.

'What are these humans planning? Even if they captured Six-Claw, what difference does it make? Once he dies, his core will return to the Abyss. They can't stop that.'

Still, caution gripped its mind. Until it understood what had truly happened, it would stay hidden.

Above, the enormous moon-like mirror behind Zhang Huanyun dimmed. But in its depths, a shadow flickered—a massive figure now trapped within the mirror's realm, confused and furious.

A satisfied smile tugged at Zhang Huanyun's lips.

'This is it. If we can keep doing this, one by one, the Abyss Plane will weaken. One hundred and eight monarchs sounds like a lot, but if we destroy them individually, shaking the very foundation of the Abyss becomes possible.'

He turned and raised a thumb toward Cao Dezhi. The emotionless Douluo responded with a slight nod. His power was truly formidable—he had subdued a monarch in a single move.

In the distant past, even this would've been unthinkable...
