Some of the meditating warriors even channeled their own soul power into the integrated batteries, providing auxiliary energy support.
Soul power cultivated by the human body could be replenished continuously—but naturally, there were limits. Even so, at this moment, it had to be done. This method had been practiced countless times, maximizing the conservation of physical and mental strength while still injecting power into the batteries. Only this could make the war last longer.
…
'What's that alarm?'
Just as Gu You exited the Star Dou Battle Network, a series of piercing alarms rang out.
He swiftly changed into his military uniform and dashed out of the Blood God Battalion dormitory. His two-word battle armor instantly enveloped his body, wings flapping behind him as he shot toward the direction of the abyssal passage.
From a distance, he could already hear the deafening explosions and feel the tremors shaking through the mountains.
With each flap of his wings, his speed increased. The camp wasn't far from the abyssal passage, and soon, he saw the overwhelming sight of nearly the entire legion's forces stationed around the passage. Towering soul-guided weapons were set up in a ring around the abyssal entrance. Zhang Huanyun hovered alone above the center of the passage, hands clasped behind his back, silently observing the situation within.
Gu You also saw the Blood Gods of the Blood God Battalion, all seated cross-legged in meditation, right at the front line closest to the passage.
As if sensing his presence, Xue Yi suddenly raised his head and looked in Gu You's direction, waving him over.
Gu You frowned slightly and descended from the sky.
Many soldiers of the Blood God Legion noticed his arrival as well. Despite the tense atmosphere caused by the sudden abyssal tide, a wave of excitement passed through them at the sight of him.
This was their dual champion of the Blood God Legion!
Undeniably, Gu You's arrival brought a strong morale boost.
"I didn't expect that before I even made my move, the abyssal creatures would deliver the opportunity themselves. Although it's come a bit early, we must still try to seize it."
As Gu You approached and overheard Wu Qing Douluo's words, he was momentarily confused. He had no idea what he meant by that.
Xue Yi smiled slightly. "From now on, stay by my side. Do whatever I ask you to. You can still use the Golden Dragon Spear, right?"
"Of course," Gu You nodded.
"Good. Then wait. Restore yourself—recover your mental strength. You just finished a match, and that must have taken a toll."
"Yes." Although the Star Dou Battle Network matches didn't truly consume soul power, the mental fatigue was significant.
Xue Yi lifted his head, mouthing something in Zhang Huanyun's direction.
Zhang Huanyun turned and looked their way. Seeing Gu You beside him, he silently nodded to Xue Yi.
Below, the abyssal creatures' offensive grew fiercer. After a brief lull, more abyssal beasts surged into the fight.
Initially, most of the abyssal creatures were close-combat types. They had to rely on their bodies to endure the Blood God Legion's artillery. But over time, ranged abyssal types began to appear.
These creatures began launching ranged attacks to intercept the soul-guided beams and artillery fire, creating opportunities for their melee counterparts.
The Six-Clawed Demon Emperor hovered in midair, commanding the battle. Its wings spread wide, flapping slowly, ready to launch a full assault at any moment.
It had been half an hour since the abyssal passage began changing. In its depths, the black vortex continued to expand. The mist left behind by obliterated abyssal creatures was no longer being reabsorbed into the deeper realms like before. Instead, it was being consumed by the vortex, becoming part of it—causing the vortex to grow even larger.
More abyssal creatures emerged alongside it.
If Zhang Huanyun could see what was happening, he would undoubtedly risk everything to lead the Blood God Legion to destroy the vortex and re-stabilize the seal. Unfortunately, he couldn't see it. Without proper information, he had no choice but to focus on holding the line.
A flash of intense light streaked through the sky. Deep within the vortex, another figure slowly crawled forth.
It had eight claws, a body segmented into three parts. Its head was enormous and round, with an exaggeratedly large mouth and two fangs jutting out. From its head sprouted two antennae, each several dozen meters long, gently swaying.
Whenever one of the weaker abyssal creatures was touched by its antennae, they instantly exploded into mist, their energy absorbed into its body.
Its eight claws gripped and pulled, struggling to extract its massive form from the abyssal passage—as if some force behind it were holding it back.
It looked up toward the sky at the Six-Clawed Demon Emperor hovering overhead, whose massive body obscured the view of everything below. Then, in a flash, the giant ant-like abyssal creature flattened against the passage wall. Its enormous head transformed into a drill-like spiral and rammed into the wall. The spiraled head began to spin rapidly.
Immediately, a network of light patterns flared on the surface of the passage. The patterns spread outward, and the seal at the passage's base glowed brightly in response.
The giant ant's body was flung back by the backlash. It shook its head, clearly dazed, and then—shockingly—spoke human words.
"Still no good. The seal those humans created is damn troublesome. Even with my true form here, I can't break through. Looks like our only chance is to burst through the exit."
Among the 108 Abyssal Kings, the Six-Clawed Demon Emperor ranked ninety-seventh. But this Ant Emperor? It was seventy-sixth.
It didn't launch an immediate attack. Instead, it lay flat against the passage wall, cooperating with the Six-Clawed Demon Emperor in quiet anticipation.
As the vanguard, their mission was to buy time—time for ordinary abyssal creatures to die here and become abyssal energy, which would feed through the human-linked abyssal passage and expand it, making room for more kings to descend. All in one go—they aimed to conquer the human world entirely.
For now, only the two of them had descended. Their strength was still limited. But as the passage widened, more and more ordinary abyssal creatures poured through in a frenzy. And the bigger the passage got, the more Abyssal Kings could arrive.
The Blood God Legion knew none of this. They only saw wave after wave of abyssal beasts throwing themselves at death...
