"Lily, just to ask, you wouldn't actually believe what Skadi said, would you?" Asher looked at Artoria with a questioning tone.
"Of course not. We were just attacked this afternoon, you wouldn't be in the mood to do such a boring thing," Artoria walked into the room calmly, but a shadow fell across her face. Asher nodded inwardly. As expected, Lily understands him.
"However," she paused, then looked up and said flatly, "it reminded me of how disgusted you looked when I kissed you before."
Asher: "???"
"I didn't look disgusted at you, did I?" Asher said, a little
speechless. Back in the changing room, he only held back because he considered Lily's age and knew that doing such a thing would cause her considerable harm.
"In my eyes, that was disgust," Artoria said, a hint of resentment creeping into her usual calm at the end.
Although she wouldn't believe what Skadi just said, as she also believed Asher wouldn't dare to lay a hand on her, Skadi's words still reminded her of what had happened before. Yes, Asher didn't have the guts, which was why she had been so exasperated back then that she wanted to do that to this fish. But in the end, she was firmly rejected by this righteous fish.
Looking at the girl who had suddenly fallen silent, Asher cleared his throat twice, changing the subject. "By the way, did you need something from me?"
"Can't I look for you if I don't need anything?"
Asher: "..." Did this Lily take the wrong medicine? She's so easily irritated.
"Sorry," Artoria clearly realized her impropriety and apologized softly. She didn't know why she was like this. Just thinking about what happened before made her irritable, and then remembering that she failed to protect Asher today only added to that irritation. It wouldn't do to vent her anger on him just because he had a good temper. Artoria shook her head vigorously, shaking off those vexing emotions.
"Royal Sister has something to ask you; she wants you to go over there."
"Sister Morgan?" Asher was startled. "She already knows about this afternoon?"
"She knew shortly after we were attacked," Artoria said.
After all, a small half of the Knights of the Round Table were Morgan's people, so it wasn't strange that she would know so quickly. However, the Knights of the Round Table no longer differentiated themselves, as, strictly speaking, Morgan herself was on Asher's side.
"Alright, let's go over there now," Asher said, standing up.
"Do you want to come along?"
Artoria shook her head. "I need to go to the training ground to continue training." This failure gave Artoria a serious sense of crisis. Morgan had told her some time ago that to protect others, one must first be able to protect oneself, and that with enough strength, she could make Ash do anything she wanted. Of course, her training was purely for her own improvement and had little to do with Morgan's latter statement... at most, it had a tiny bit of connection.
Asher rubbed Artoria's head. "Then let's go out together. The path to Sister Morgan's alchemy workshop is the same for a part of the way. Don't put too much pressure on yourself." The gentle head rub made Artoria's ahoge sway happily, and an unconsciously intoxicated smile appeared on her adorable face. But soon, she seemed to snap out of a dream, slapping Asher's hand away. "Don't touch my head!" Her Royal Sister often did this kind of caressing, and in her opinion, it was a gesture of affection from an elder to a junior. She and Asher were the same age; they should be on equal footing.
Asher was startled. "Do you want me to hug you instead?"
"Why would you assume I want comfort?!" Artoria glared at Asher in annoyance. But after staring into his eyes for a moment, she quietly lowered her head. "Just a small hug will do," her voice was tiny. Just a small hug wouldn't be elder-to-junior affection... just a small hug would simply be encouraging her.
Asher stepped forward and embraced Artoria from behind, pulling her petite body into his arms. He inhaled her soft, faint scent.
"W-wait a minute." Artoria was completely caught off guard. Even without a mirror, she knew her face must be completely red right now. According to her understanding, when she said something about hugging her, Asher should have hesitated first... but now he had embraced her so readily.
"What's wrong?" Asher turned to ask. His warm breath caressed Artoria's delicate earlobe, and she cried out in panic, her small face turning even redder. Asher couldn't help but laugh, then released her. Indeed, this is the normal Lily. She was so strange when she 'blackened' earlier, completely unlike herself. And... to be this shy from just a hug, if he had really done that while she was under the influence of an aphrodisiac, Lily would probably have been too ashamed to face him directly.
"Then I'll go find Sister Morgan first. Don't overthink things, okay?" Seeing Artoria's flushed cheeks, Asher rubbed her head again, then walked towards the door.
The genuine smile he had from earlier quickly returned to normal.
Artoria stared blankly at Asher's retreating back. After a moment, a happy smile appeared on her face. Her previously maintained aloofness was long gone, and her emerald eyes held a hint of both expectation and unease. Just being hugged like this already makes me so happy. If I had really done that with Ash back then, would I be able to sleep in his arms every night? If not for Royal Sister and Teacher, then Ash would belong only to her Artoria quickly shook her head, dispelling the fleeting dark thoughts in her mind, and reorganized her thoughts.
Training was still important now. If she couldn't even protect the person she loved, there was no point in talking about the future or happiness.
Asher walked towards the alchemy workshop, pondering certain things. The first time he encountered that elf, it escaped, but this time it actively attacked him. Was this because it lacked confidence before, and now that it was stronger, it had become arrogant? Also, the method Skadi taught him was a bit strange. Guiding the magic within him if he wasn't mistaken, that magic should belong to Odin. If he made that magic his own, would he eventually turn into Odin? Wasn't this a common occurrence? After a great person dies, they usually don't die immediately but lie dormant in a body, attempting to take it over...
Thinking of this, Asher suddenly remembered something else. When King Marco set a trap, his original intention was to expose his identity as the White Dragon, but what appeared in the end was a tall figure. Was that person Odin? Perhaps he should ask Morgan if they could use his blood to project the image again, and then have Skadi confirm whether the person in his body was indeed Odin.
