Dave stirred awake when he felt a ray of light strike his face.
When he looked around, all he could see was a blank space. There was no sun. Just clouds and endless light everywhere.
'Is this what heaven is like? I thought it would be a little bit more crowded', Dave thought as he scoffed.
Right when he said that, there was a blinding light that made him cover his eyes.
After that, he heard a sweet voice. When he looked up, he saw a beautiful angel with two wings on her back. She had white hair, big eyes, and had a smile plastered on her face.
"W-Who are you?" Dave stuttered while while trying to figure out what's going on
" I am Celeste, an angel, a messanger of the gods. I have come hear to have a little chat with you. It would seem as if the gods have given in to their grudges to your ancestors for the chaos they caused. I would like to apologize on their behalf for they have broken the rules and would like to give you another chance at life". Celeste spoke slowly enough so that Dave could catch every word she said
Dave had to take a second to think about what the beautiful angel had just said.
Dave slowly said, " So you're saying that the reason my life has been so miserable is because of the gods having a grudge on my ancestors? What did they even do that made the gods so angry at them?"
Celeste's smile faltered for a little bit but then returned to the usual cheek to cheek teethy smile she had.
" I have not gotten the permission to reveal these secrets to you yet. Individuals must prove themselves before getting access to important information. I have already given you all the information I was allowed to. I might have also overstepped my bounds a little bit to complete the story".
Dave heard this and thought for a moment. He the spoke up\
"How do I prove myself to the Gods? What am i supposed to do?"
Celeste's eyes showed a slight glimmer at the questions which Dave asked.
" Of course, I will answer these questions. Firstly, for the Gods to approve of you, you must complete an equivalent task for the request which you have. Also, you are destined for something far greater that just getting answers for questions. So, the Gods have given you another chance. You will be able to live another life in another world. You will not have any problems with food, friends, or even your looks. In return, you will have to complete the mission that the Gods will give you"
"What mission do I have to complete?" Dave asked, curious about what was going on. He had always seen anime about reincarnation but he never believed it to be real. Now he felt as if he had had a dream come true.
Celeste answered, " You will get to know in due time. You will be starting at the bottom and will rise to the top. You give go from fodder to the power of a god. But, it will all depend on you. So, do you accept this opportunity? Or would you like to proceed to the afterlife where your soul will remain for the rest of eternity?"
Dave, without thinking, anwered in a beat, " Of couse I'll take the new life! I want to know what it feels like to live as a rich kid!"
Even though Dave had never mentioned it, he had always had always lit a small candle of hope within his heart for when his parents would come to pick him up and say it was just a mistake and he would go to a luxurious house and life there "happily ever after".
Well, that never happened. Even if were to happen, Dave wouldn't be there to see it.
After hearing Dave's response, Celeste said, " Well then young child, step through this portal and live a new life where you shall be the son of a noble in a world filled with magic and fantasy. You will be the weakest when you arrive. But fret not, you will grow stronger. Stronger than even the strongest within the mortal realm and stand at the zenith of power".
Dave ignored everything Celeste said and straight up sprinted through the golden portal which Celeste had opened up out of nowhere with a snap of her fingers.
" You will have a tough life young man. Maybe even tougher than your previous one. A life wraped in luxury and riches, but deep inside, still a wilting flower waiting to bloom next spring".
As Dave was going through the portal, everything was once again covered in white.
Dave suddenly felt really sleepy. And he closed his eyes
" Madam! It's a boy!"
The midwife shouted at the weak yet beautiful woman who had been struggling for the past few hours to give birth to her firstborn.
Just as the midwife gave the newborn to the woman, a tall, handsome man with a stubble stumbled into the room with an anxious expression.
" Are you alright my darling? How's the baby?"
Lucas Van Benserk asked his wife.
Just then, the baby in wife's hands opened his eyes for the very first time.
" Where the f*ck am I? Why is there a grown man holding me?"
Those were Dave's first thoughts before being lifted into the air by his loving father.
