Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Aiden

I enter the campus and look around for Lyra. I need to figure out what she has to do with Professor Cross. I look around and see her at her locker, but her face looks pale. What happened? I head over to her, trying to act normal so she doesn't suspect anything.

As I approach Lyra, she turns to face me, her eyes filled with tears. "Aiden, thank god you're here" she says, her voice trembling. "Something awful happened." "What is it?" I ask, concerned. "I woke up this morning and found a note in my locker" she explains, wiping away a tear. "It said '_Stay away from what's mine, bitch.'_ She points to the red letters scrawled across the mirror inside her locker door.

My eyes widen as I read the threatening message scrawled across Lyra's locker mirror. "What the hell?" I exclaim, my voice echoing down the deserted hallway. "Do you have any idea who might have done this?" Lyra shakes her head, sniffling. "No, but it must be someone who knows about... about us." "Us?" I ask, confused. "You know, you and me" she says, gesturing between us. "The kiss yesterday, people saw it."

"I'm sorry, Lyra" I say gently, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. "But we were just talking yesterday. Nothing more than that." "Then why would someone threaten me like this?" she asks, her voice shaking. I look around the hallway nervously. We're alone right now, but at any moment, someone could walk by and overhear our conversation. I don't want to draw unwanted attention to either of us.

As I look into Lyra's tear-filled eyes, I feel a pang of sympathy. Despite my initial resistance to her advances, I can't ignore the genuine fear radiating from her. I sigh and run a hand through my hair, trying to think of what to do next. "We should report this" I say finally. "Maybe talk to campus security or someone who can help." Lyra nods, wiping away her tears. "Okay, yeah, that sounds good."

Lyra leads the way to the campus security office, her steps quick and urgent. I follow close behind, glancing around nervously as if expecting an ambush. The halls are mostly empty, save for a few stragglers hurrying to their next classes. We reach the security office, and Lyra pushes open the door, holding it for me. Inside, a bored-looking officer sits behind a desk, flipping through a magazine.

The officer glances up as we enter, raising an eyebrow at Lyra's tear-streaked face and my worried expression. "Can I help you two?" he asks, setting aside his magazine. "Someone left a threat in my locker" Lyra explains, sniffling. "We want to report it." The officer leans forward, suddenly more alert. "Show me." Lyra leads him back to her locker, pointing out the menacing message scrawled across the mirror.

The officer leans in to examine the message, his brow furrowing as he reads the words aloud. "Stay away from what's mine, bitch. That's quite a threat." He straightens up and pulls out a small notebook and pen. "Did either of you see anyone acting suspiciously near this locker recently?" "No," Lyra says, shaking her head. "But it was there when I opened my locker this morning."

"Has anyone been bothering you lately, Miss Moreau?" the officer asks, turning his attention to Lyra. "No, not that I can think of" she replies, wringing her hands nervously. "I mean, everyone knows who I am, but no one has been giving me trouble." The officer nods, jotting down notes in his notebook. "And you, Mr. Rayne?" "Not that I know of" I reply, shifting uncomfortably under his scrutiny.

"Well, if you think of anything or see anyone suspicious, be sure to let us know" he says finally, handing Lyra a business card with the campus security hotline printed on it. "In the meantime, we'll keep an eye out and increase patrols in this area." "Thank you" Lyra murmurs, tucking the card into her pocket.

I turn to Lyra and place a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "Don't be scared" I reassure her. "We'll find out who it was." Lyra nods and smiles slightly, but she's still nervous. " Suddenly, Raven's voice comes over the campus speakers. "Hello, all students!" she begins, and everyone starts listening. "Tonight's hunt will be different, and anyone who wants to sign up should do it online this time! Wear a mask and your pink neon bracelet."

As the announcement echoes through the campus, Lyra's eyes widen in surprise. "A different hunt?" she murmurs, turning to me. "What do you think that means?" I shrug, my mind already racing with possibilities. "Maybe they're changing up the rules or the format somehow." "I guess we'll find out tonight," Lyra says, her voice barely above a whisper. "Yeah" I agree, feeling a mix of excitement and apprehension.

Lyra and Milo are in the forest, wearing masks and pink neon bracelets on our wrists. "Let's not move together this time, that's the only way the hunters won't catch us" Milo suggests, his voice confident. "You're right! Let's split up, the three of us." Lyra nods, despite the fear in her eyes. "Be alert and don't stay in one place."

I nod, understanding the gravity of the situation. "Alright, let's do this." We separate, each heading in a different direction. I move swiftly and quietly through the dense foliage, my senses heightened. The thrill of the hunt courses through my veins as I navigate the familiar terrain. As I round a bend, I hear footsteps approaching. Heart pounding, I press myself against a tree, blending into the shadows.

Suddenly a figure appears and my eyes widen in shock as I recognize her. A pink neon mask with a hickey, chains around her neck, a leather jacket with leather pants and combat boots. It can't be, after six months she appears in front of me. Selena, my psychopath. She doesn't seem to recognize me because of the mask and I see her wrapping her chains around my arms ready to grab me. "You're a stupid student if you think I can't catch you" she says menacingly.

She takes another step toward me, and my heart beats faster. "Who are you?" she asks, the chains jingling between us. Without saying anything, I take off my mask, and Selena's eyes widen. "Aiden?" she whispers almost audibly. "Selena..." I answer, still shocked by her appearance.

Without saying anything, Selena growls and her chains fall to the ground. Then she pounces on me like a hungry animal and knocks me to the ground, kissing me until I'm out of breath. "Aiden! I miss you so much!" she moans into my mouth and I feel the beast inside her awaken again.

My lips tremble as I try to speak, but no words come out. All I can manage is a soft moan as her tongue explores my mouth, tasting me, claiming me. Her hands grip my hair tightly, pulling me closer as if she's afraid I'll disappear if she lets go. "Oh, Aiden" she groans, breaking the kiss momentarily before diving back in for more. Her teeth nip at my lower lip, and I feel a shiver run down my spine.

Suddenly she breaks the kiss, and we both breathe heavily. "Not here, bunny! Come with me to my hut." She stands up and offers me her hand. "Hut?" She doesn't answer, just smiles predatorily. "Come with me!" she commands and I can see the hunger in her eyes. I place my hand in hers and she pulls me up, walking me towards her hut.
